3 TOW PROTECTORS RuplaTec The experience of RuplaTec in the field of technical rubber and plastic production goes back more than 50 years. Products that RuplaTec produces, besides the towing shoes and sleeves, include fenders in rubber and polyurethane, piggyback blocks, scraperblades and wheelchocks. With these products, RuplaTec has a strong presence in various markets, including infrastructure, aviation, maritime and offshore industry. Tow protectors Tow wire protectors by means of towing shoes and sleeves are used worldwide to provide maximum protection to wire ropes and cables. The protectors prevent wear and rubbing against bulwarks, rails and fairheads and also prevent expensive damage to the ship concerned. These protectors are manufactured by our own production facilities in Europe and delivered worldwide. RuplaTec tow wire protectors are made of an exceptionally hard and resilient polyurerethane material which is widely used in the marine and offshore industry. A quality polyurethane with high strength and resistant to oils, ozone and sea water. The flexibility and wear resistance ensure the economic lifetime of the protector and reduce wear on the wire rope. The protectors are delivered worldwide with short delivery times and offered in two designs: Towing Shoe (two piece construction and rectangular) Towing Sleeve (one piece construction and round) 3

4 TOWING SHOES Towing Shoes Towing shoes have a rectangular cross-section and consist of a two-piece construction. An advantage is that these rope shoes can be mounted on to the wire rope after they are also fine, after the cable is connected. This in contrast to the towing sleeve, which consists of one piece. The two halves of the towing shoe are clamped on the wire rope with strong bolts without protruding parts. Both ends of the towing shoes are slightly beveled so that the tow protector can easily move about certain obstacles, such as a railing. Our standard towing shoes are produced with an external dimensions of 230 x 155 mm. The standard inner diameters for the passage of the cable run from ø 44 to ø 76 mm and available in 2 meters length. Towing shoes can also be customized. 5 TOWING SLEEVES Towing Sleeves Towing sleeves have a cylindrical cross-section and are made in one piece. As a result, they are not divisible. This form of protection is only suitable for mounting on to the wire rope before the cable is connected. Both sides of the towing sleeve are straight, but one can be bevelled upon request, so that the sleeve can move more easily. The towing sleeve is made off a high grade polyurethande with offshore wear resistance properties. In the standard version, our towing sleeve are produced with an outer diameter of 162 mm. The standard inner diameters for the passage of the cable run from ø 44 to ø 76 mm and lengths are available in 1 and 2 meters. Towing shoes can also be customized.
