4 3 Sludge profiling Page 4 of 7 Please fill in this chapter when you are interested in online tank sludge profiling: For the sludge profiling we need to insert the profiler through an opening in the roof (leg hole, manway, vent, etc.) With a fixed roof tank we need the product level high eugh, so that the profiler is fully submerged. For a floating roof tank we prefer that the roof is in the maximum position (less than 1 meter below the tank shell) because of the confined space regulations. Prior to the profiling the water layer must be drained, heating and mixers must be shut off during profiling. Can the roof be in the maximum position during the profiling (external floating roof) for profiling? Can the distance between product level and roof be less than 4.5 m (fixed roof) Is breathing apparatus required for roof entry? Is the temperature in the tank homogeneous? 5 4 Desludging Tank services Questionnaire Page 5 of ONLINE TANK DESLUDGING (SLUDGE REDUCTION) Please fill in this chapter when you are interested in online tank desludging. When the sludge levels are above the manways or if it is t possible to land the roof safely we use our online tank desludging equipment to reduce the sludge level and reclaim the tank capacity. We create a connection to the tank with the cold cutting method through the manway cover and insert a steerable jet cann for recirculation of the product. The kinetic energy is used to break up the sludge. Depending on the product and sludge type we need to add temperature and/or a demulsifier. The demulsifier will t change the quality of the oil. What is the reason for the tank desludging? Is the area around the manways clear of obstacles? If there are heating coils installed? If, are they still working Are there any concerns for using a demulsifier (chemical) to speed up the desludging process? Additional information Please also fill in the chapter 6: Availability of utilities/ facilities (page 6). 4.2 OFFLINE TANK DESLUDGING (TANK CLEANING) Please fill in this chapter when you are interested in offline tank desludging. When a tank needs to be cleaned for maintenance purposes we can use several different cleaning systems depending on the product, the sludge levels, cleaning requirements and the tank size. Please describe the reason for the cleaning and the required conditions after the cleaning so we can select the best system for the offline tank desludging (tank cleaning). When the tank needs to be degassed to hot work conditions we use forced ventilation to remove the gas phase of the product from the tank, the gasses can be released at a safe area (+4m) or incinerated by a mobile incinerator.
