1 Disconnect black 52-pin connector (5) from rear SAM control unit (N10/8). Note locking mechanism. 2 Remove gray connector insert (5.1) from connector housing of black 52-pin connector (5). P82.

4 Unpin brown/black line (BN/BK1) from slot 14 of gray connector insert (5.1) and pin into slot 1 of black 2-pin connector (8). The black 2-pin connector is included in the installation kit.

2 1 Disconnect black 52-pin connector (5) from rear SAM control unit (N10/8). Note locking mechanism. 2 Remove gray connector insert (5.1) from connector housing of black 52-pin connector (5). P Unpin brown/black line (BN/BK2) from slot 1 of gray connector insert (5.1) and pin into slot 2 of black 2-pin connector (8). The black 2-pin connector is included in the installation kit. 4 Unpin brown/black line (BN/BK1) from slot 14 of gray connector insert (5.1) and pin into slot 1 of black 2-pin connector (8). The black 2-pin connector is included in the installation kit. 5 Connect black 2-pin connector (8) to black 2-pin plug (3.3) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness. P Pin brown/red line (BN/RD) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness into slot 1 of gray connector insert (5.1). 7 Pin red/green line (RD/GN) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness into slot 14 of gray connector insert (5.1). 8 Install gray connector insert (5.1) into connector housing of black 52-pin connector (5). 9 Plug black 52-pin connector (5) onto rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and lock into place. P82.

3 8 Install gray connector insert (5.1) into connector housing of black 52-pin connector (5). 9 Plug black 52-pin connector (5) onto rear SAM control unit (N10/8) and lock into place. P Disconnect black 40-pin connector (7) from rear SAM control unit (N10/8). Note locking mechanism. P Remove gray connector insert (7.1) from connector housing of black 40-pin connector (7). 12 Shorten red line (RD) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness to proper length and connect to gray/white line (GY/ WH) of vehicle wiring harness via potential distributor (9).

4 12 Shorten red line (RD) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness to proper length and connect to gray/white line (GY/ WH) of vehicle wiring harness via potential distributor (9). The potential distributor (9) can be obtained from the wiring harness repair kit. 13 Wrap insulation tape around potential distributor (9). P Install gray connector insert (7.1) into connector housing of black 40-pin connector (7). P Route driver side branch-off line of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (3) along existing lines and in cable duct (9) of rear SAM control unit (N10/8) to B-pillar and fix in place using cable ties and felt tape. Use a pull-through device. The driver side branch-off line is the longer of the two branch-off lines. P Page 4 of 6

The passenger side branch-off line is the shorter of the two branch-off lines. P82.

5 16 Route driver side branch-off line of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (3) along existing lines and in cable duct (10) from B-pillar to door cutout and fix in place using cable ties and felt tape. Use a pull-through device. Strap down excess length of line. P Route passenger side branch-off line of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (3) along existing lines and in cable duct (11) of rear SAM control unit (N10/8) to B-pillar and fix in place using cable ties and felt tape. Use a pull-through device. The passenger side branch-off line is the shorter of the two branch-off lines. P Route passenger side branch-off line of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (3) along existing lines and in cable duct (12) from B-pillar to door cutout and fix in place using cable ties and felt tape. Strap down excess length of line. P Connect black 6-pin connector (3.4) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness (3) to actuation module (4). P Route brown line (BN) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness from rear SAM control unit (N10/8) to right rear seat ground (W17) and fix in place using cable ties. The right rear seat ground (W17) is located at the right side next to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8). 22 Connect brown line (BN) of illuminated door sill molding wiring harness to right rear seat ground (W17).
