The bonding surfaces must be free of dust and grease. 2 Glue velcro strip (9) to rear of control unit (3). The bonding surfaces must be free of dust and grease. 3 Remove carrier foil from velcro strip (9). P

3 4 Connect black, 18-pin coupling (2.3) on wiring harness for illuminated Mercedes star to control unit (3) and lock. 5 Clean contact surface of control unit (3) in vehicle. The bonding surfaces must be free of dust and grease. 6 Glue control unit (3) in driver side footwell to splash wall. 7 Route brown line (BN) from control unit (3) to rear seat crossmember ground point (W15/6) and fix in place using cable ties. P Connect brown line (br) of Mercedes star illuminated wiring harness at left front footwell ground point CAN (W15/6). A maximum of 5 ground connections can be connected, otherwise the left front footwell ground point (W15/5) is to be used as an alternative. 9 Route twisted brown line (br) and brown/red line (br/rt) on wiring harness for illuminated Mercedes star from control unit (3) to left vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor (CAN) electrical connector (X30/32) and fix in place using cable ties. P

4 10 Connect black 2-pin coupling (2.1) to free slot on electrical connection for left vehicle floor interior CAN potential distributor (X30/32). 11 Route red line (rt) and black line (sw) through passage in firewall to front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module and fix in place with cable ties. Use a pull-through device. P Disconnect orange 14-pin connector (4) at front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). P Install red line (rt) in contact cavity "6" of orange 14- pin connector (4). If contact cavity "6" of orange 14-pin connector (4) is not used. If contact cavity "6" of orange 14-pin connector (4) is used. Contact cavity "6" is labeled Connect contact spring on red line (rt) and red line (rt) to present line in contact cavity "6" of orange 14-pin connector (4) with potential distributor. Contact cavity "6" is labeled. Take the potential distributor from the basic wiring harness repair kit and the wiring harness repair kit passenger car expansion. P

5 15 Remove cable grommet (10) from housing on front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). P Remove cable grommet (11) from housing on front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). Cable grommet (11) is no longer required. 17 Route black line (sw) along front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). 18 Route black line (sw) through opening in housing of front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and install cable grommet installed on black line (sw). P

6 19 Remove cable grommet (10) from housing on front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). P Route black line (sw) from front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) along present lines to installation location of illuminated Mercedes star and fix in place with cable ties. 21 Install black line (sw) into black connector housing (2.4). Contact cavity assignment: - Chamber 1 = white line tieout (ws) - Chamber 2 = black line tieout (sw 1) The black line (sw) is connected to the black 2-pin connector on the illuminated Mercedes star later.
