(excl. $17.39 $20.00 Bird banders have ethical and scientific responsibilities to minimise the adverse effects they have on their study animals and maximise the value of their research. To meet these responsibilities, banders need to be appropriately trained. The present manual has been developed in recognition of the need to promote quality in bird banding it provides a basis for the setting of training standards for bird banders, and the development and implementation of training programmes. The art and science of bird banding continues to evolve, with new techniques regularly being developed and old ones improved upon. Much of this work is undertaken by amateurs those who enjoy contributing to the study of birds while giving freely of their enthusiasm, time and effort. Indeed, banding may be unique in allowing both professional and amateur to work alongside one another on equal terms.
