5 Spring From the President venthoughthecalendarsaysitisspring,wejustreceivedalatesnowfall andwehavenotseentemperaturesabovethehigh30'sandlow40's.this makesgettingtheporscheoutofstorageabitdifficult,nottomention tryingtodoanyworkonthecarinpreparationfortheupcomingdrivingseason. DespitetheunseasonablycoldSpring,wehavehadourfirstdriveoftheyear, andwehavealotmoreplannedforapril. Onthe26thofMarch,twentysevenofourmembers(someintheirPorsches), tookadrivetobeardsleecastleinlittlefalls,nyforamurdermysterydinner Theater.Rumorhasit,andIthinkthereisaphotoonthewebsite,thatourown MembershipChairmanBillMeckleywaspartoftheshow.Hewascastinthe partofapriest. April'sdriveisscheduledforSaturdaythe16thandwewillbetravelingtothe NormanRockwellMuseuminStockbridge,MAfollowedbylunchattheRed LionInn.SueandChipChorahaveputthiseventtogetherforthemembers,soI hopeyouwillbeabletojoinus. AmeliaandIwerenotunfortunatelyunabletoattendourdrivetoBeardslee CastleasitwasonthesamedayastheZone1President smeetinginlatham. TwiceayearalltheRegionPresidentsfrom Zone1gatherrightinthecenterofour regiontotalkabouttheclub.thediscussion topicsrangefromwhatisgoingonatthe Nationallevel,toactivitiesplannedbyZone 1suchastheRallyandConcourse,Club Race,48HoursDriversEducationandthe Autocross,andanyissuesregionsmay encounterduringtheyear.thismeeting helpsdisseminateimportantinformationtotheregionpresidents,andallows newlyelectedpresidentstotakeadvantageofthewealthofknowledgethat existswiththemoreexperiencedpresidents. RegistrationforourCupsandSaucersAdvancedDE,onMay11thand12th,is currentlyopen.thisisanadvanceddeforwhiterungroupdriversandup.once again,wewillhaveprocoachingavailableforhireaswellasawednesdaynight dinnerfeaturingskipbarberinstructorpeterargetsinger.completeinformation onthiseventcanbefoundatclubregistration.net.onceagainzone1willbe hostingtheirannual48hoursattheglendeonjune17th-19th.thiseventis opentoallrungroups,withfridaybeinganinstructoronlyday.thisisthe longestrunningpcadriverseducationeventinthecountry.driversaretreated to30minuterunsessionsbothdaysandlastyearhcpmemberswentoutfora groupdinneronsaturdaynight,whichweplantodoagainthisyear. RegistrationforthiseventwillopenonApril15thviaclubregistration.net.Last yearwehadover20driversfromourregionattend,andiwouldlovetotopthat numberthisyear. ThelastthingIwouldliketodiscussiselections.2011isanelectionyearfor ourclub,andeventhoughitisonlyapril,itisnottooearlytostartthinking aboutourelectionsthisfall.electionswillbeheldforthepositionsofpresident, Vice-President,SecretaryandTreasurer.Ifyouareinterestedinrunningforone ofthesepositionspleasefeelfreetotalktooneofthecurrentboardmembers andwewillbemorethenhappytoletyouknowwhatthejobentails.wewill alsobelookingformemberswhowouldbeinterestedinoneofthemanychairman positions.itwillbetheresponsibilityofthenewboardtoselectchairsfor Activities,Autocross,Historical,Membership,Newsletter,Safety,Safety,and webmaster.wearealsolookingformembersinterestedinservingonthe ºnominatingcommittee.Membersappointedtothatcommitteewillhavethe responsibilityofreviewingnominationsfrommembersandholdingtheelection.
