50-SYNCMICKIT Installation Instructions The 50-SYNCMICKIT allows you to replace a factory Ford rearview mirror that contains the SYNC microphone without a loss of features.

1 50-SYNCMICKIT Installation Instructions The 50-SYNCMICKIT allows you to replace a factory Ford rearview mirror that contains the SYNC microphone without a loss of features. You can then install any Gentex Auto-Dimming mirror or OnStar FMV as normal. 1) Remove factory mirror. Unplug mirror harness and set factory mirror aside. 2) Determine the best location to hook the 50-SYNCMICKIT to the factory harness. If you are replacing the factory mirror with a Gentex or OnStar FMV, the best solution would be to pull the existing wiring into the headliner and make your connections there. If this is not an option, the factory mirror harness should be available in the Driver s or Passenger s A-Pillar (Depending on model) 3) Cross reference the wiring guide information supplied and connect the 50-SYNCMICKIT accordingly Yellow = Microphone + Blue = 12V+ Black (3 wires) = Ground 4) Strip the factory wire s which correspond with the colors needed for the install. Be sure to solder any connections for the best results. If soldering is not an option, feel free to use T-Taps and be sure to double check all connections. 5) Mount the microphone filter box to ensure it will not rattle while driving. Make sure the 3-pin Molex plug is accessible.

Please remember to keep the microphone as close to the center of the vehicle as possible and in front of the driver.

2 6) Determine a suitable location for the replacement microphone. For the cleanest, factory looking install, the overhead counsel is best. If the vehicle does not have an overhead counsel, the headliner will be suitable. Please remember to keep the microphone as close to the center of the vehicle as possible and in front of the driver. 7) Once a good place has been found, route the microphone cable towards where the filter box is installed and plug the corresponding 3-pin connectors together. 8) Plug in any connectors removed during the install and test the SYNC system. This can be done by turning on the ignition, hitting the Command button and once the SYNC prompts are over say help. You should be directed to the SYNC Help Menu 9) The installation is now complete.
