DR15 CHECK THE AND,, OR 2 CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS te: For vehicles with 2-pin sensors, measure the circuits listed in the table that apply to 2-pin 7/14

4 GO to DR17. DR17 CHECK FOR A SHORT BETWEEN THE AND THE CIRCUITS Sensor connector disconnected. Sensor connector disconnected. ( + ) PCM Connector, Harness Side ( - ) PCM Connector, Harness Side Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? GO to DR18. DR18 CHECK THE SENSOR OUTPUT te: For vehicles with 2-pin sensors, measure the circuits listed in the table that apply to 2-pin Generator/regulator B+ connector connected. Sensor connector disconnected. Key ON, engine running. DMM on low voltage AC scale. ( + ) Sensor Connector, Component Side ( - ) Sensor Connector, Component Side 2 Run the engine at approximately 2,500 RPM. Is the voltage greater than 0.25 V? For Edge, Expedition, INSTALL a new sensor. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section , Electronic Engine Controls. 9/14

Key ON, engine OFF. ( + ) Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - ) Vehicle Battery VPWR VBPWR 10/14
6 Is the voltage greater than 10 V? GO to DR20. REPAIR the open circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT DR20 CHECK THE PWRGND OR CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT IN THE HARNESS te: For vehicles with 2-pin sensors, measure the circuits listed in the table that apply to 2-pin ( + ) Vehicle Battery ( - ) Sensor Connector, Harness Side Positive terminal Positive terminal PWRGND Is the voltage greater than 10 V? GO to DR21. REPAIR the open circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT DR21 CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE IN THE HARNESS PCM connector disconnected. Key ON, engine OFF. ( + ) Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - ) Vehicle Battery Is the voltage less than 1 V? GO to DR22. DR22 CHECK FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE PCM AND SENSOR 11/14
7 Sensor connector disconnected. ( + ) Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - ) PCM Connector, Harness Side Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? GO to DR23. REPAIR the open circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT DR23 CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO PWRGND OR IN THE HARNESS te: For vehicles with 2-pin sensors, measure the circuits listed in the table that apply to 2-pin te: The measurement may be taken at the PCM or connector, whichever is easier to access. ( + ) Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - ) Sensor Connector, Harness Side PWRGND Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? GO to DR24. DR24 CHECK THE SENSOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION te: For vehicles with 2-pin sensors, measure the circuits listed in the table that apply to 2-pin PCM connector connected. Connect a 5 amp fused jumper wire between the following: Point A Sensor Connector, Harness Side Point B Sensor Connector, Component Side 12/14
8 VPWR VBPWR PWRGND VPWR VBPWR PWRGND Key ON, engine running. DMM on low voltage DC scale. ( + ) Sensor Connector, Component Side ( - ) Vehicle Battery Does the voltage switch between LOW (less than 2 volts DC) and HIGH (greater than 8 volts DC)? GO to DR26. INSTALL a new sensor. REFER to the Workshop Manual Section , Electronic Engine Controls. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT DR25 CHECK THE VARIABLE CAMSHAFT TIMING (VCT) SYSTEM te: Only diagnose the bank indicated by the DTC. Check the VCT system for correct operation. Is a concern present? REPAIR as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT GO to DR26. DR26 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION Disconnect all the PCM connectors. Visually inspect for: pushed out pins corrosion Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly. Carry out the PCM self-test and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Section 2, Flash The system is operating correctly at this time. The 13/14
