2 Foreword Launching into its sixth season, the Audi R8 LMS Cup continues to be a showcase for one-make racing in the region. Sporty, progressive and sophisticated, motorsport is in the Audi DNA and there is no better platform to showcase this than the Cup, part of the expansive Audi Sport customer racing Asia programme. Innovation continues to drive the Cup at the forefront of regional sports car racing. Last season marked the series debut of the second generation of the race car which has more than 300 international victories to its name, the Audi R8 LMS GT3. This year we see the exciting return of Pushto-Pass, the turbo boost technology that temporarily unlocks additional horsepower for the car at the press of a steering wheel button. Constantly exploring new opportunities to bring its signature brand of sports car racing to new venues, in 2017, the Cup will make its debut at the iconic Suzuka Circuit in Japan, and will close the season in October at the brand new Zhejiang International Circuit in China. ground as we further our commitment to developing motorsport in the region, with Audi race cars lining up for the Macau Grand Prix, the Sepang 12 Hours, the Blancpain GT Series Asia, the Asian Le Mans Series, the China GT Championship, TCR Asia and TCR China. 3 Season preview Calendar Audi R8 LMS Cup season The Audi R8 LMS Cup enters its sixth season in 2017 with a formidable field, a new service partner and new tracks. The 10-round championship will be held over five race weekends starting at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Joining the Cup this season is former Formula 1 driver Will Stevens who will race as part of Castrol Racing Team. Also making his debut this year is 22-year-old Australian Mitch Gilbert with OD Racing Team, while Audi TEDA Racing Team driver Shaun Thong, 21, who was part of the Audi Sport customer racing Asia Young Driver Development Programme, will contest his first complete season in the Cup. Rounds Official Test 1 & 2 Date May 3-4 May 6-7 Circuit Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia On the hunt for a fourth consecutive championship is Malaysian Alex Yoong of Team Audi R8 LMS Cup, who secured an incredible hat-trick of Audi R8 LMS Cup titles in. Also back is the driver who just missed out on his first title last season, young Belgian Alessio Picariello of MGT Team by Absolute, while another young driver, Champion Racing Team s Martin Rump of Estonia, also returns as he looks to improve upon his third-place finish last year. Cup champion in 2012, Marchy Lee of Audi Hong Kong also returns, as do Chinese star Cheng Congfu of FAW-VW Audi Racing Team, Sun Jingzu of Milestone Racing, Team Audi Volkswagen Taiwan driver Jeffrey Lee, KCMG s Rick Yoon and Kyong-Ouk You of Audi Korea. Back behind the wheel after making first appearances in are Anthony Liu of Absolute Racing and Bhurit Bhirombhakdi of Singha Plan-B Motorsport. The Audi R8 LMS Cup has raced across Asia s premier circuits and this season, will make its debut at two new tracks: this weekend at Suzuka in Japan and in Zhejiang, China, with return visits to the Korea International Circuit and China s Shanghai Audi International Circuit. Innovation and evolution goes hand in hand with the Cup and the 2017 season will feature two qualifying sessions and the return of Push-to-Pass. The number of Push-to-Pass boosts that each driver receives each race is dependent on their classification, with amateurs getting at least double the number than their professional counterparts. Also new this season is the Pirelli Best Lap trophy, which will be awarded to the driver with the fastest lap in each race. Built specifically with motorsport in mind, the Audi R8 LMS boasts a V10 engine with 585 horsepower and a lightweight, aluminium Audi Space Frame (ASF). The Audi R8 LMS Cup is part of the Audi Sport customer racing Asia programme. 03

4 The Tracks The tracks Sepang International Circuit Track length: km No. turns: 15 Direction: Clockwise Circuit Information Opened in 1999, Malaysia s Formula One facility has been a catalyst for the country s motorsport industry. Located outside Kuala Lumpur, the circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke and features a combination of long straights and a variety of low, medium and high-speed turns. Two long straights are joined by a hairpin, which form the track s final corner. Competitors must also reckon with track conditions which are reliably hot and humid and which often feature afternoon thunderstorms. The Audi R8 LMS Cup raced at Sepang for the first time in

5 The tracks The tracks Suzuka International Racing Course Track length: km No. turns: 18 Direction: Clockwise Circuit Information Originally built as a Honda test track in 1962, the Suzuka International Racing Course (more commonly known as Suzuka Circuit ) is a driver and fan favourite. A test for both driver and car, the circuit features a figure-eight layout alongside challenging corners and the famous Spoon Curve. Home of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix, the Audi R8 LMS Cup makes its debut at Suzuka this season. Shanghai Audi International Circuit Track length: 5.5km No. turns: 16 Direction: Clockwise Circuit Information Home to China s Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Shanghai Audi International Circuit was opened in Designed by Hermann Tilke, the track layout was inspired by the Chinese character shang ( 上 ), the first character in the city s namesake, which means above or ascend. This wide and smooth track features a technically challenging layout including Tilke s trademark long, back straight followed by a hairpin turn and several elevation changes. The Audi R8 LMS Cup has raced at the Shanghai Audi International Circuit since its debut season in Korea International Circuit Track length: 5.6km No. turns: 18 Direction: Anti-clockwise Circuit Information The venue of the Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix from 2010 to 2013, the Korea International Circuit is located 400 km south of Seoul near the port city of Mokpo, and is the country s first international racing circuit. Designed by Hermann Tilke, this anti-clockwise circuit features a 1.2km straight. The facility incorporates elements of Korean design, including the grandstand which resembles the eaves of hanoks, the traditional Korean styled houses. The Audi R8 LMS Cup first raced at the Korea International Circuit in. Zhejiang International Circuit Track length: 3.2km No. turns: 16 Direction: Anti-clockwise Circuit Information Located south of Hangzhou, the Zhejiang International Circuit was conceived by Apex Circuit Design. The circuit features two independent tracks East and West which, when combined, create the full 3.2km circuit. There is a 22-metre elevation between the track s highest and lowest points. 8 Audi Sport customer racing Asia overview The drivers Audi Sport customer racing Asia offers a diverse and broad range of opportunities to motorsport enthusiasts, from sports car experiences and licensing courses, to participation in racing events in Asia and Europe. Audi Sport customer racing Asia builds on the Audi global customer racing programme. Amateur Cup winner s team will be awarded with a coveted place in the 2018 Total 24 Hours of Spa, while Audi Sport customer racing Asia has fielded teams at the prestigious Nürburgring 24 Hours, placing an impressive 12th with the all-asian driver squad of Alex Yoong, Marchy Lee, Cheng Congfu and Shaun Thong in. 01 Alex YOONG Team Audi R8 LMS Cup Malaysia Racing driver, Commentator 26 July SUN Jing Zu (Am) Milestone Racing China Launched alongside the Audi R8 LMS Cup in 2012, Audi Sport customer racing Asia takes a pioneering role in the development of Asian motorsport through its support of entries into the region s leading events and series: the FIA GT World Cup at the Macau Grand Prix (won in by Audi Sport Team WRT), the Sepang 12 Hours (won by Audi Sport Team Phoenix in ), the new Blancpain GT Series Asia, the Asian Le Mans Series and the China GT Championship. Audi Sport customer racing Asia also breaks down geographical barriers in motorsport for Asian teams and drivers. The Audi R8 LMS Cup 2017 This season, the brand with the four rings continues to expand its programme with the newly launched Audi RS 3 LMS and the Audi R8 LMS GT4. In the fast-growing touring car category (TCR), Audi has already celebrated success with a class victory at the Dubai 24 Hours and class and overall victories in the 2017 TCR Asia Series. While the new Audi R8 LMS GT4 made its debut at the Nürburgring 24 Hours this year with Audi Sport Team Phoenix, the first customer deliveries of the new GT4 will be made before the end of this year. The addition of the TCR and GT4 race cars to the Audi Sport customer racing Asia portfolio opens up opportunities to a broader customer base to compete in the region s leading events and series. The motorsport history of AUDI AG began with the Audi quattro The commanding victories, plus two manufacturers and two drivers titles achieved with the original quattro in the World Rally Championship between 1982 and 1984, were a key factor in producing the success of quattro drive in the marketplace. Audi then established quattro drive in circuit racing as well: 1996 saw the Audi A4 quattro clinch championship titles in seven countries. 17 Audi motorsport Audi motorsport Title wins following return to DTM Following Laurent Aiello s 2002 victory in the Abt-Audi TT-R, Audi returned to the DTM with a factory commitment in 2004 and, with Mattias Ekström, instantly clinched the title. The Swede triumphed again in 2007, while in 2008 and 2009, Timo Scheider won, making Audi the first and so far only automobile manufacturer in DTM history to have achieved a title hat-trick. Martin Tomczyk completed the success story of the Audi A4 DTM in the 2011 season with another title win the fifth one in total for the Audi A4 DTM. In 2013, Mike Rockenfeller in the Audi RS 5 DTM claimed the ninth DTM title in total for Audi. Audi R8, most successful present-day Le Mans sports car In its 1999 debut at Le Mans, the world s toughest endurance race, Audi, on clinching third place, instantly managed the leap onto the winners podium. In the following years, the Audi R8 was in a class of its own. From 2000 to 2002, Audi achieved a historic hat-trick, not least thanks to debuting TFSI technology that subsequently made its way into production technology and 2005 saw customer teams score two further overall victories for Audi. The R8 secured its place in motorsport history with a total of 63 victories in 80 sports car races. Pioneering achievements with TDI technology With TDI technology, Audi demonstrated a pioneering achievement, again proving Vorsprung durch Technik in the process. In 2006, the Audi R10 TDI featuring a new concept was the first-ever car with diesel power to triumph in the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours and 2008 again saw Audi win at Le Mans with the R10 TDI. In addition, Audi won the American Le Mans Series three times in succession with the diesel-powered sports car, plus, in 2008, the Le Mans Series in Europe. With the R15 TDI, Audi celebrated a one-two-three result in the fastest Le Mans race of all time in 2010, as well as setting a new distance record that has not been broken to date. In 2011, 2012, 2013 and, Audi TDI Power again won at Le Mans, plus in, the brand celebrated its 13 th victory in only 16 races it had participated in. Audi has been demonstrating Vorsprung durch Technik in terms of energy efficiency as well, having reduced diesel consumption by 40 percent ever since the TDI era began in racing in

Starting in the /2017 season Audi increased its involvement in Formula E Team ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport. In addition, it is planned to incorporate Formula E into a factory-backed motorsport program as of the 2017/2018 season. Audi Sport has been giving its name to the team ever since the inaugural / Formula E season and in the Brazilian, Lucas di Grassi, made one of its factory drivers available in the course of this cooperation. GT racing as third pillar In the R8 LMS, Audi, in 2009, developed a race car specifically for use in customer racing for the first time. The GT3 sports car, more than 50 percent of which consists of production components, instantly impressed. More than 130 race cars were delivered to customers by the beginning of. In addition to 28 championship titles around the world, the track record of the R8 LMS reflects eight overall victories in iconic 24-hour races such as those at the Nürburgring and at Spa-Francorchamps, plus three successes in 12-hour races. In March, Audi presented the second generation of the successful GT3 sports car that, only two months later, won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and later that year, saw a one-two-three win in the 12-hour race in Sepang. The global success story of the car continued in, with global customer deliveries hitting 200 and race victories recorded in the 24 Hours of Dubai, the GT World Cup at the Macau GP and the 12 Hours of Sepang. Motorsport at Audi is always undertaken with consideration for our customers. Audi uses the race track as a test centre for new technologies. Race car development and series production benefit from each other in many areas, including hybrid drives, engine downsizing, fuel injection technology and turbocharger design. Light technology In, for the first time, Audi drove at Le Mans with laser lights and a special edition Audi R8 LMX, a road model with laser lights, followed shortly. Lights are an important safety factor and are often tested in motorsport. The Audi R18 TDI, for example, was the first Le Mans sports car with full LED headlights. Ultra lightweight Ultra lightweight aluminium suspension components were tested by Audi in rallying in the 1980s, and have since played a significant role in the reduction of fuel consumption in road cars. For 20 years, the lightweight Audi Space Frame (ASF) has set manufacturing standards. The Audi R8 LMS racing car s aluminium chassis and the road going Audi R8 originate from the same production.
