2 After view After several months of preparations and a lot of hard but very fun and interesting work it is now time to summarize and analyze this past weekend s auctions. Our huge promotion and planned drive especially for the three specialized auctions started at Nordia 2016 in Jyväskylä in April, when we for the first time showed photocopies from the Gummesson collection. This was followed up with our participation at World Stamp Show in New York at the turn of the months May/June and the special viewings in the Nordic capitals Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. Altogether these activities resulted in many new serious collectors and exhibitors as our clients participating in the auction. This time the auction weekend started with the non- Scandinavian countries section, which turned out well. It is difficult not to mention the tough bidding between the auction room and a phone bidder on the British Commonwealth collection that went for three and a half times the starting price! A British dealer congratulated us and said that it would never have reached that price in England. After a short break the auction continued with The Wolfgang Weigel collection of classic Denmark. Fantastic prices were achieved, with the First Day Cover and the Mixed 22 Skilling Franking Cover as the absolute highlights. Denmark as a collecting area is really on the way up and hopefully we may soon enjoy a new exhibit on a high level! Saturday morning the auction room was full of excited and hopeful Swedish collectors and dealers, not all of whom were happy when they left but everyone agreed that the achieved price level is good for the market. After lunch it continued with Finland and Iceland with the two special sales; The Gummesson collection of Finland part 1 and the Indriði Pálsson collection of classic Iceland part 2.
