3 INTRODUCTION General The Sunflower 4700 Series In-Line Rippers are built for professional farmers in search of a rugged machine to handle challenging soil and residue conditions. The 4700 Series combines deep tillage for primary tillage needs during the fall season. The 4700 Series is built on a solid frame with heavy-duty shanks designed to deeply penetrate heavily compacted soils while easily slicing through tough crop residue to maximize crop yield potential. 4 MODEL 4700 IN-LINE RIPPER Available in three models, the 4700 Series is built on a heavy-duty frame designed to withstand the high stress of aggressive tillage practices. The 4700 main frame is constructed of strong 4 x 6 x 3/8-inch (101 x 152 x 9.5 mm) steel tubing that is cross braced and gusseted for added rigidity and trouble-free maintenance. The 4700 Series is available in models ranging from 5 to 12 shanks that penetrate and fracture the soil to eliminate tough compacted zones in the soil. Cutting widths of the 4700 Series In Line Ripper range from model SF at 12.5-feet to the SF47-12, one of the largest In-Line rippers in the industry.at -feet. Shank spacing is set at -inch intervals and designed to handle toughest soil conditions with a 3,000 lb. maximum trip pressure setting and is a true spring reset not a spring cushion system. [200]-1

5 Tongue (47-12) The tongue features a 4 x 6-inch (102 x 152 mm) tubular tongue with Cat IV hitch. A user friendly mechanical jack and safety chain is included as standard equipment. Frame Leveling (47-12) Frame level adjustments are made by changing the length of the turnbuckle located on the tongue. Hose Station (47-12) The hydraulic hose loom and docking station prevents most contamination of the hydraulic fittings and damage to the hydraulic lines. The 7-pin electrical connector docking station is also attached. The operators manual container is also attached for easy access. [200]-2

6 Frame The frame is constructed of high strength 4 x 6 x 3/8 inch (102 x 152 x 9.5 mm) steel tube to withstand the high stress of aggressive tillage. It is cross braced and gusseted for added strength and trouble-free service. Shanks Shank spacing is inches ( cm). The minimal disturbance shanks of the Sunflower 4700 Series have a maximum working depth of 20 inches (50.8cm) and 00 pound point load. The shank is made of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm) high strength abrasion resistant steel with a chromium carbide shin guard to protect the shank from wear. Also available are parabolic shanks with the same point load and a operating depth of 16-inches (40.6 cm). Both shanks are also available in a fixed version with shear bolt protection as shown in the lower picture. [200]-3

7 Front Coulters (Optional) The 20-inch diameter rippled front coulters can run up to 7-inches deep to ensure residue is sliced allowing the following ripper shanks to pass through without disturbing the ground surface. The depth is adjusted by turning the adjustment bolt offering infinite settings up to the 7-inch maximum depth.. Shank Offsets (Staggering) The optional shank staggering system offsets the ripper shanks 12-inches allowing more space between shanks and improving residue flow between the shanks. 3-Point Flat Fold The 3-point flat fold is available in the 8 shank version and the option of adding a Pull Hitch and transport wheels is available to convert it to a pull type unit. 8 Wheels and Tires Rigid Frame (Optional Gauge Wheels) 3-Point mount utilizes gauge wheels that are 20.5 x ply and are available on the Rigid and Flat Fold models and The lift wheels on the folding models use 11L x 15 tires on 1.5-inch (38.1 mm) spindles with 6 bolt hubs and are optional on the Lift System On the the lift cylinders are plumbed in a master and slave configuration that allows the master cylinders under the center section to activate slave cylinders under the center and wing sections. This keeps them synchronized and ensures the wings stay level with the center section. The cylinders are mounted at each wheel location to maximize lift. On the 3-Point models with optional pull hitch there are only two wheels and lift assemblies with a master slave configuration. Depth Setting Depth settings are maintained with rod collars on the center lift cylinders. Depth is easily changed by swapping collars of various lengths. 9 Disc Leveler Option (Optional) The disc leveler is used with the parabolic shank and is used to close the trench behind the shank and build a berm. Row Sealer Attachment (Optional) The wavy coulters close the slot created by the shank and the rolling basket firms the berm created by the coulters. Real Buster Attachment (Optional) The Reel Buster can be used in conjunction with the Row Sealer attachment and is mounted to the Row Sealer attachment frame. [200]-6

10 Hitch Options The optional pull type hitch converts the 3- point units to pull type, and includes the bolt on lift assembly, hinged tongue, tires, safety chain, and (2) 4 x 12-inch (101.6 x 4.8 mm) hydraulic cylinders, hoses and fittings. Safety Equipment The 4700 Series has a highly visible Safety warning lighting system including turn signals, amber warning lights and the SMV along with safety chains at the hitch point. [200]-7
