2 The Honorable Mark Rutherford - - May 9, 18 II. NOTEWORTHY INCIDENTS A resident of North Hollywood was arrested for robbery and possession of counterfeit U.S. currency in the 37 block of Russell Ranch Road. The subject entered the location and was seen by a Loss Prevention employee placing store items inside his clothing. As the subject was exiting the store without paying for the items, he was approached by the employee. The subject used physical force to push away the employee. During the investigation, counterfeit U.S. currency was found in the subject's pants pocket. ( ) A subject, resident of Los Angeles, was arrested for commercial burglary in the 38 block of Thousand Oaks Blvd. The subject entered the location and exited with store items without paying for them. The subject had a magnet in her pocket which is used to remove store security tags from higher value items they wish to remove from stores without setting off the store alarm. A magnetic store security removal device was also found. Approximately $4, worth of store merchandise was recovered. (18-574) An arson was reported in the 54 block of Avignon. A palm tree was set on fire. A call was received identifying a possible suspect, a male juvenile. (18-554) A Los Angeles resident was arrested for vehicle burglary in the 315 block of Lake Meadow Lane. Entry was made via a window. Video surveillance showed the suspect reaching into the vehicle via the window and rummaging through the vehicle's interior. ( ) Ill. TRAFFIC See attached. IV. AGENDIZED CAR See attached. V. 4 LOST HILLS JUVENILE INTERVENTION UNIT ACTIVITY REPORT FOR APRIL 18 WESTLAKE VILLAGE A. SCHOOL ISSUES Conducted security checks of all district schools re: Columbine Walk Out. No interventions were held this month. B. INTERVENTIONS C. COMMUNITY I CRIMINAL ISSUES 1. We conducted a monthly parental resource class at Lost Hills Sheriff's Station. This program was developed by our unit and is designed to educate parents about: 1) The current trends in juvenile behavior and delinquency, ) Alcohol/narcotic awareness and recognition, 3) School policy and campus issues, 4) Gang awareness and negative peer relations, 5) Parental rights and responsibilities and, 6) Parental responses to incorrigible and/or delinquent behavior. We also address the specific concerns relating to the minor's behavior. We educate the minor and their parents of possible criminal behavior and the legal consequences. We offer suggestions and make recommendations to improve the minor's quality of life.. Spoke with numerous citizens and parents who called to question various juvenile concerns and issues in the community. We also provide the parents with various juvenile resource programs within our community. 3. We met with the Sylmar Juvenile Court District Attorney regarding the investigation and filing of criminal charges against juvenile offenders. 4. Met with Captain Josh Thai throughout the month in order to keep him up to date regarding our units investigations and current juvenile issues within our city. 5. Entered juveniles into the Juvenile Automated Index system for various violations. 6. Made court appearances to testify as witnesses on the part of the People of the State of California and attended court proceedings in cases generated from the City of Westlake Village. We also investigated, prepared, and filed cases with the District Attorney's office. We additionally assisted other investigators in the preparation of cases for court. 7. Met with station narcotics detectives on a regular basis to exchange information regarding juvenile and drug related issues. We have worked with the narcotic detectives on several narcotic cases directly and indirectly involving juveniles.

Handled the processing and follow-up of various juvenile referrals brought to the attention of this unit (i.e., Juvenile Information Forms, Field Interview Cards, Juvenile Automated Index, and citations for various juvenile contacts with uniform personnel). 9. Conducted our normal checks of juvenile problem areas in the city during weekend evenings and responded to juvenile related calls for service. 1. Updated the Gang Book and briefed the captain on criminal activity trends. 11. Registered 7 sexual predators. 1. Participated in Choices drug diversion program. 13. Presented threat assessment training for patrol deputies, all shifts. 14. Received 4 hours of entry training from SEB. 15. Assisted Detective Bureau with out of area search warrant. 16. Participated in SARB hearing.
