5 Multi-leaf dampers/ Shut-off dampers Shut-off dampers/multi-leaf dampers can be used as control, throttle or butterfly dampers to adjust pressure or flow settings in ventilation systems. They are often used to balance air duct systems to ensure the correct flow rates at junctions. Square dampers basically consist of a C-shaped profiled frame into which the hollow body blades are built. These are connected to one another via a gear wheel. Circular dampers consist of a damper blade with internal blocks with sealing. Actuation of the damper blades or slats can be manually adjusted on the flaps, differentiating, depending on the function, between an OPEN/CLOSE function or step less adjustment in a range from 0-90 or an actuator can be used. The design of our dampers means there are no metal parts within the air stream, which creates a high degree of leak tightness for a shut-off damper. 6 Square shut-off damper airtight Shut-off dampers can be used as regulating and shut-off valves to adjust volumetric flow rates in ventilation systems. The design of our dampers means there are no metal parts inside the air stream. This design produces a high degree of leak tightness. The airtight shut-off damper is mainly used within the chemical industry, in medical clean rooms or in the electroplating sector as the dampers can be used to close off individual areas. They can therefore be used to close off an air line, for example, to avoid the influx of cold air during plant standstill. Operation of the shut-off damper is done by means of a continuous protected square shaft made from V2A. In the standard version, the damper is provided with lockable levers for manual setting or with a console for an electrical actuator. 9 Examination at the test facility In order to guarantee on-going high quality, the multi-leaf dampers are tested at our own TÜV-approved test facility and regularly checked for airtightness. 9

10 Square multi-leaf damper Multi-leaf dampers are used to regulate the volumetric air flow and pressure and to shut off line cross sections in air conditioning systems. The dampers essentially consist of a C-shaped profiled frame into which the blades are fitted. The design of our dampers means there is no need to have any metal parts inside the air flow. The shut-off damper is operated using a fully protected square shaft made of V2A. In the standard version, the damper is supplied with a lockable lever for manual setting or with a console for electric actuation. Dampers consist of several rotatable hollow body blades, embedded in plastic bushings and designed to optimise through flow. The hollow body blades are activated via external, plastic covered gear wheels designed to rotate with the help of a square shaft in the opposite direction to the blades. 14 Circular shut-off damper airtight Shut-off dampers can be used for volumetric flow setting, regulation and flow valves in ventilation systems. They can be operated either manually or using an actuator, which, depending on the application, operates an ON/OFF function or continuous adjustment in the range of 0 to 90. Circular airtight shut-off dampers consist of a rotatable damper blade mounted in plastic bushings. This is sealed with a rubber lip seal toward the damper casing. The casing consists of a tube with flanges or sleeves. The design of our dampers means there are no metal parts inside the air stream. The design also ensures a tight seal is created. 18 Assembly and maintenance instructions Please ensure the rectangular and tensionfree mounting of the dampers without pressure loading. The square dampers may only be installed with horizontal blades. Before installation and after adjusting the flange bolts, the dampers must be checked for proper operation. All dampers are maintenance-free and require no lubrication. 18
