3 What s New for MY19 Introduction In 2003, with the CLS, Mercedes-Benz created a new vehicle segment that for the first time combined the elegance and dynamism of a coupe with the comfort and functionality of a sedan. With the third generation of the CLS, Mercedes-Benz is now building more strongly than ever on the aura and unique character of this trendsetting model. At the same time it is another example of the logical evolution of the Sensual Purity design idiom: sharp edges and lines have been significantly reduced. It blends seamlessly into the current Mercedes-Benz coupe family with numerous design features. 4 What s New for MY19 The New CLS Coupe Progress and a return to values at the same time: the new CLS Coupé is the first vehicle to fully embody the next stage of the Mercedes-Benz design language and at the same time bases itself on the timeless appeal of the original CLS A choice of powerful engines in combination with EQ Boost for sporty driving pleasure with low fuel consumption Expressive, luxurious interior with a lounge atmosphere: a generous sense of space is combined with high-quality workmanship of a handcrafted nature in all details Particularly unique sense of well-being: ENERGIZING comfort control with programs to enhance wellness and driver-fitness safety Individually customizable ambient lighting with illuminated air vents: light and colour impart a positive influence during the journey Exhilarating safety innovations, such as the enhanced MULTIBEAM LED headlamps and the unique side impact protection PRE-SAFE Impulse Side Aerodynamics in top form: It has the lowest drag coefficient in its class one of many factors contributing to exemplary efficiency 5 Exterior Larger dimensions compared with the preceding model: extended vehicle length (+51 mm), larger wheelbase (+65 mm) and wider track (+23 mm) Sharpened front section with striking details: front angled forwards, diamond radiator grille with Panamericana contour and sporty, imposing appearance thanks to flat headlamps and striking "eyebrow" of the daytime running lamps (in conj. with MULTIBEAM LED)

5 What s New for MY19 Interior Expressive, luxurious interior with lounge atmosphere with a width-emphasizing cockpit for an even more generous sense of space consistent colour concept through to the rear area (wave design) incl. two-tone B-pillar Individual seating concept specific to the model series alongside the design including the form, colour and material choice, numerous other aspects have also been newly designed and enhanced with regard to comfort, ergonomics, sportiness and safety as well as the basic lightweight design principle Improved rear compartment design and new rear support concept for greater seating comfort and flexibility: Newly designed rear seat row with three fullfledged seats and maximum flexibility thanks to seats backrests which fold in the ratio 40:20:40 as well as height-adjustable head restraints New interior colours: magma grey and Marsala brown 6 Technology New engine range incl. EQ Boost and extended engine range with 4MATIC allwheel drive DYNAMIC SELECT with On-road drive programs from comfortable to extremely sporty For the first time in this form there is a two-piece AIRPANEL with adaptive closing function for the air intake behind the diamond radiator grille and in the bumper improves the vehicle's wind resistance, thereby reducing fuel consumption Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, assisted maneuvering into and out of parking spaces (forward and backwards, parallel and end-on spaces) plus warning (visual and acoustic) on detecting obstacles, next to and behind the vehicle and improved detection of crossing traffic behind

6 EQ Boost Starter-Alternator Standard on all models The starter-alternator supports the combustion engine with additional power and torque (boost function). Conversely, during braking and on overrun, a high proportion of the energy released is fed back into the battery: For lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. A further advantage is the shifting of the load point: The support enables the combustion engine to operate in a more favourable map region. 7 The starter-alternator also allows additional hybrid functions, such as Silent Start i.e. almost imperceptible starting of the engine. This makes for significantly enhanced ride/noise comfort. Other basic advantages: The starter-alternator also controls idling. The engine can be completely turned off when the vehicle is rolling to a stop at traffic lights or when coasting. This means that coasting is also possible in conjunction with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC. The 48 V vehicle electrical system (in addition to the 12 V electrical system) offers four times the power and can therefore transfer larger amounts of energy. It operates, for example, the water pump and the starter-alternator. Important advantage: The low-voltage system avoids the additional, complex safety architecture of a high-voltage system. The still available 12 V system supplies consumers such as lighting, cockpit, infotainment and control units.

7 AIRPANEL Standard on the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4MATIC+ Coupe 8 The AIRPANEL is an intelligently controlled, two-piece radiator shutter with adaptive closing function for the air intake. With louvres closed, it contributes to optimum aerodynamics less wind resistance means lower fuel consumption and thus fewer emissions too. The AIRPANEL adjusts on demand to the particular driving conditions: an elaborate thermal management system controls the limits for the quantity of cooling air and the engine temperature. The system is controlled by the engine control unit it responds specifically to the road speed, fan requirements, coolant temperature and air temperature.

8 PRE-SAFE Impulse Side Optional on all models 9 When an impending lateral collision is recognised, PRE-SAFE Impulse Side moves the driver or front passenger towards the centre of the vehicle This impulse-giving restraint system uses the air chambers in the side bolsters of the seat backrests When the onboard sensors report that a lateral collision is unavoidable, these inflate within fractions of a second and give the seat occupant a slight sideways push This increases the distance between the occupant and the door At the same time the relative speed between the vehicle and the seat occupant is reduced, so that subsequent contact with the door panelling is less severe

9 PRE-SAFE Sound Optional on all models Key features include: When the PRE-SAFE system recognizes a certain dangerous situation, the onboard sound system emits a brief rushing sound to precondition occupant s eardrums The natural reflex mechanism of the stapedius muscle enables the inner ear to rapidly prepare for high sound pressures caused by the accident This helps mitigate or event prevent permanent hearing damage as a result of an vehicle collision 10

10 ENERGIZING Comfort Control Optional on CLS 450 4MATIC, Standard on CLS 53 4MATIC+ The convenience settings are bundled into 7 perfectly coordinated modes to enhance well-being and performance. Depending on the equipment, this comprises air conditioning and fragrancing, massage function and ambient lighting as well as playback of appropriate playlists. 11

11 Ambient Lighting Standard on all models LED lighting available in multiple colours accentuate the quality and contours of the interior. Features include: Numerous presentation options: 64 colours, 10 colour schemes and 2 effects Illuminated air vents show whether the temperature has been set hotter or colder and can also be set in the desired colour from a choice of 64 options The ambient lighting is incorporated in the ENERGIZING comfort control programs Every display style of the Widescreen Cockpit is oriented towards a matching colour scheme: "Glacier Blue" for Classic, "Red Moon" for Sport, "Down Blue" for Progressive Eight colour schemes each consist of two colours the Widescreen Cockpit and the footwell are in the same colour, while the trim level forms a contrast Two further colour schemes each contain five colours these divide the vehicle into the levels "upper display and roofline", "lower display", "feature line (trim)", "centre console and cup holder" and also "footwell" 12

40 Unique Selling Points Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe Luxurious Interior The luxurious interior of the CLS Coupe impresses with its clear basic lines, and echoes the sensual, flowing contours of the exterior. The high-grade choice of materials shows a very high level of finish. A Design Icon An elegant and sporty four door coupe design that reflects the timeless aura of the first CLS, which founded a new segment and quickly became a design icon. The new four-door coupe also comes a supplementary electric system that adds a good deal of low-end torque on demand, a feature that makes the heavy-hitting luxury cruiser even more frisky when you dig into the skinny pedal. TopSpeed In profile, it s clear Mercedes decided to draw more inspiration from the firstgeneration than the second-generation CLS. The aggressively flared rear fenders and sharp creases of the 2012 version are gone, replaced with smooth, flowing lines. Out back, Mercedes gave the CLS new taillights that help the rear end look less droopy. The license plate also sits lower on the new car than it did before. Inside, the biggest change is in the back seat. After more than 10 years as a four-seater, the CLS now offers seating for five. If you re familiar with the current E-Class, you won t find many surprises in the new CLS. But considering how stylish and luxurious the current E- Class is, that s not necessarily a bad thing.
