3 The (proper) LEED Certification Process 1. Assign a LEED AP to the project team 2. Identify target points 3. Register project with USGBC (intent to use LEED) 4. Identify responsible team members for each point 5. Collect and submit documentation 6. Building Certification Goals by Discipline Process: water conservation; reuse of gray water Civil: site conservation; reduce cut and fill Electrical: energy efficiency; task lighting to supplement daylight Architectural: reduce toxic finishes; non-voc coatings; reduce heat island effect Structural: use fly ash; minimize material use; use recycled steel and wood products HVAC: energy efficiency; indoor air quality
