5 The future Rising oil costs along with increasing tax burdens will continually drive petrol prices higher. Climate change could bring about restrictive policy changes to road transport. Road transportation demand will increase due to the demands of a global market. Pollution in cities will drive tail-pipe emissions standards, requiring transport companies to invest in new technology. IEE/10/225/S12/ May 2011 to Oct 2013
