The Chameleon Trac II M-Series Warranty Information Thank you for purchasing The Chameleon Trac II M-Series brush system! We truly hope this tool will provide many years of useful service. Your brush system comes with a 1 year warranty ensuring that there are no defects in the tool s frame, motor, and electronic components. Any non-mechanical friction parts, such as the rope guides, guide tubes, eye bolts, and handle mounts/handle mount hardware are covered by a 90 day warranty against defects. Please note that it is very important to follow the care and use instructions as well as the user cautions found in your User s Manual. Failure to do so will void the tool s warranty. Take time to fill out the enclosed Warranty Form that was included with your new tool and mail it to us along with a copy of your receipt. This will help establish proof of purchase should there be any issues during the warranty period. If you have questions or experience any problems operating your Chameleon Trac II M-Series, please don t hesitate to contact us! Page 2
Important User Cautions Remember to follow the care and maintenance steps after each use in order to ensure maximum life and usability of your new tool. Always detach the power unit prior to rinsing brushes with water. Exposing the control system to excessive moisture can damage sensitive electronic parts. Avoid dropping the power unit as this can damage critical parts of the motor and electrical system. Always disconnect battery prior to removing the lid on the power unit! This will ensure that the user avoids contact with the friction wheel while it is operational. Always make sure the tracking line is free of knots and or heavy debris prior to and during tool operation. Doing this will ensure smooth passage of the tracking line through the system and will help avoid overloading. When operating the M-Series, avoid wrapping the tracking line around any part of your body. This can create a pinch point that could harm the user and damage the power unit. Avoid running the system when the power unit is alerting low voltage via its internal buzzer or when the power LED glows constant red. Do not use any batteries or chargers other than the ones supplied with this tool. Using unspecified parts with the M-Series will void its warranty and can be dangerous and/or result in permanent damage to your system. The Chameleon Trac II M-Series Setup Included with your M-Series you will find all parts necessary to operate your motorized finishing system. You will also notice that there are -2 extra 100 Ropes with clips -1 extra support bar. These extra parts have been included to allow the user to utilize The Chameleon Trac II in a standard manual setup configuration when needed. Chameleon Trac II M-Series Setup Figure 1 Page 3

Power Unit Key Features The Low Voltage Alert System Your Chameleon Trac II M-Series is equipped with a low voltage alarm system to prevent stalling the tool in the middle of the slab. When the battery reaches a critical level its LED will turn from green to RED and you will begin to hear a pulsing alert. When these signs are present it is time to -Turn the main power switch to the off position. -Disconnect the battery and swap it out with a fully charged one. The Intuition Drive System Your Chameleon Trac II M-Series is also equipped with our intuition drive system. This system ensures that the tool operates under the proper amount of tension from each user. When one user is ready and applies the proper tension, the tool will not activate until the other user applies tension. This helps each user control the tool s operation during a pass. The Battery Management System (BMS) Your Chameleon Trac II M-Series utilizes a special lithium iron phosphate battery that has a built-in BMS or Battery Management System. This system identifies a specific low voltage level in the battery and shuts off the battery when this level is reached in order to protect the battery from over discharge. The Chameleon Trac II M-Series Assembling Your Brush 1. Remove ropes and brush refills for ease of assembly. Note: You will need to loosen the black keeper bolts located at both ends of your brush channels to allow the brush refills to slide out of the channel. 2. Place brush channels parallel to one another and attach the support/divider bars using the supplied 3/8 pins and clips as shown below in figure 6. Page 6
Figure 6 Note: Follow the decal instructions located on one of the 3 included bars for proper pin placement. This step is important as improper placement of the bars and pins will greatly affect the movement of your Chameleon Trac II. -Holes closer to the notched end Orange and Green Brushes -Holes further from the notched end White and Green Brushes For the M-Series setup you will not need to attach a center bar as the motorized power unit will take the place of the center bar (as shown in figure 3). 3. Flip your Chameleon Trac II over and reinstall the brush refills and secure them by hand tightening the black keeper bolts located at both ends of your brush channels. Figure 7 Page 7
4. Flip your Chameleon Trac II over one last time so the the assembly is resting on the newly installed brushes (as shown if figure 7). 5. Mount the M-Series power unit to the center brackets of your brush assembly using the supplied pins and clips (as shown in figure 3). Note: -Holes closer to the notched end Orange and Green Brushes -Holes further from the notched end White and Green Brushes The Chameleon Trac II M-Series Charging The Power Unit The M-Series Brush System comes with a high quality charging system designed to efficiently and properly charge the tool s 12v lithium iron phosphate battery. Although your battery comes with a partial charge, we recommend charging the battery fully prior to first use. Note: Do not use any charger other than the one specified for use with this tool. Failure to do so could be dangerous and may result in permanent damage to the battery. Charging: 1. Attach battery to the charger using the provided connections. 2. Plug charger into outlet 3. Charger will notify you via its display when charging is complete. Note: Attaching the battery to the charger before plugging into a wall outlet will allow the charger to analyze the state of the battery and allow the charger to determine if it needs to reset the battery s internal BMS. Page 8
The Chameleon Trac II M-Series General Operation YOU MAY ALSO VIEW OUR GENERAL OPERATION VIDEO ONLINE AT: First, you will need to get your rope threaded into the power unit. Unwrap and unwind the 100 tracking line (rope) provided with the M-Series. Note: It is important to only use high quality 1/4 braided nylon rope when replacing the tracking line. It is also helpful to heat taper the ends to make it easier to thread the tracking line when replacing. Remove M-Series power unit cover. Note***Always disconnect battery prior to removing the power unit cover! After determining the width of your slab consider that it is always best to have 5-10 feet of extra rope at each end of the slab. For slabs wider than 80 you may want to consider ordering a longer rope set than the one that is supplied. Next, determine the side that you will be starting from. Thread one end of the rope through the front tracking eye bolt and then thread this same end into the brass lined hole on the power unit. Gently depress the limit switch to align the passage and insert rope through the rope guide tube and pull several feet of line through. Feed line end through the other rope guide tube and depress limit switch to align passage allowing the line to exit the power unit through the brass lined hole on the other side of the power unit. Thread line through the back tracking eye bolt and pull all slack out of the power unit. Continue to pull more line through until you have around 10 on the back side of the tool. Slightly loosen wing nuts on the rope guide and slide the rope guide away from the friction wheel to create a gap for the rope. Page 9
Grasp the line on either side of the friction wheel cover and floss this section under the front edge of the clear wheel cover and nest this section of line into the rope guide slot completely. Slide the rope guide back toward the friction wheel until the rope guide cannot move any further and then secure wing nuts. At this point you should see that the friction wheel teeth are spiked around 3/4 of the way into the line itself. Reattach cover and reconnect battery. Keeping the shorter length of tracking line on the side you will be starting from, take the longer length of line to the other end of the slab directly across from your starting point. Lift the brush system by the power unit handle and position the brush system at the edge of the slab. Make sure the directional switch is switched toward the desired direction of movement. Turn on main power switch. LED should shine constant GREEN to display that the battery is ready for use. Once ready, make sure the user holding the opposite end of the line places enough tension on the line to keep it free of the surface of the concrete. Pull on the line to activate the intuition drive system and the tool will begin to propel itself to the other user. Note: More line tension generally produces more even tracking. When the receiving user is in reach of the tool he/she will grab the tool by the handle with a free hand while keeping tension on the line until the tool has feathered from the slab s edge. IMPORTANT NOTE: Once the user on the receiving end of the tool DROPS THE LINE the tool will shut off. DROPPING THE LINE IS IMPORTANT as this will ensure deactivation of the power unit allowing the user to easily reposition the brush system for the next pass. For the next pass, redirect the tool by switching its directional switch. Once the brush system is repositioned for the next pass (generally overlapping the previous pass by around 4-6 inches) pick up the line and reapply tension to activate the tool. Page 10
The Chameleon Trac II M-Series is equipped with a low voltage alarm system to prevent stalling the tool in the middle of the slab. When the battery reaches a critical level the LED will turn from green to RED and you will begin to hear a pulsing alert. When these signs are present -Turn the main power switch to the off position. -Disconnect the battery and swap out with a fully charged one. -Turn on the main power to continue operation. Continue as described above until until slab finishing has been completed. When completed, clean the brush system and the power unit as described in the Cleaning and Maintaining section of this manual. Note: -When swapping batteries you may wish to detach the power unit from your brush system to make it easier to access your battery. When reattaching the power unit you should return it to the same hole settings (see page 9) The Chameleon Trac II M-Series Basic Tips -Because of factors like sunlight / shade exposure, heat, and concrete mix, it is difficult to determine the perfect time to begin finishing your slab. Here are some basic tips for determining optimal timing for using your Chameleon Trac II M-Series. -Because the M-Series weighs slightly more than our standard Chameleon Trac II System, you will have to wait a little longer than normal to utilize the tool. -Lightly tapping your fingers on the surface of the slab can help you look for a slight amount of bounce back or feedback from the concrete. When the surface feels wet but firm and leaves concrete on your fingers yet has some bounce, you are likely getting close. -When you start making your passes notice how the inside of the trailing brush is interacting with the concrete. Having much more than a pencil diameter of cream rolling in front of the inside of the trailing brush usually means that your concrete is too wet or that you re slightly early on the slab. Page 11
Cleaning and Maintaining the Power Unit Always disconnect battery prior to removing the power unit cover! This will ensure that the user avoids contact with the friction wheel while it is operational. Once the battery is disconnected and the cover has been removed use a light washcloth or counter brush to agitate any hardened concrete or debris. Use a tube brush or pipe fitting brush to thoroughly clean out any concrete debris that has accumulated in any of the rope guides, rope guide tubes, and any debris that has collected around the motor shaft or support bearing located in the chassis below the friction wheel. You can also use a damp cloth to wipe dust and debris away from any of the external components, such as the motor, battery, switches, LED, etc. Use an air hose to gently blow out any dust or loose debris. After each use of the tool we recommend fully charging the batteries to ensure that your tool is ready for use. This can extend the life and reliability of your battery. Refer to the Charging the Power Unit section in this manual for charging details and instructions. Finally, inspect the tracking line to make sure it is free of excessive fraying, any knots, or debris. Replace dirty and damaged ropes as necessary. Note: It is important to only use high quality 1/4 braided nylon rope when replacing the tracking line. It is also helpful to heat taper the ends to make it easier to thread the tracking line when replacing. Cleaning and Maintaining the Brush System After each use it is best remove the M-Series power unit in order to hose off your brushes and the brush frames. This will remove as much debris as possible prior to hardening. Removing and cleaning these parts will extend the life of your brush system. We also recommend using a lubricating spray on the brush track to keep your refills moving smoothly inside the brush channel. Page 12
