The fuel cells are available in different varieties- the entry level HA series, the high performance HP series, and the research oriented DM series. 3 HA Series TekStak Products The HA Series is a family of products that is ideal for use by hobbyists, middle school and high school students, or anyone who wants to work with a basic PEM fuel cell stack. To produce electricity, these stacks use air in the surrounding environment and require a hydrogen source for fuel. Some typical experiments that can be conducted using the HA series fuel cells include measuring how the stack power output varies with different parameters like stack temperature, fuel supply pressure, fuel flow rate, and the effect of using a DC fan (not included) to supply extra air to the tack. Fuel cells are available as build-it-yourslef kits or as preassembled stacks. Kits should be built by following the instructions provided in the manual and on the DVD. Preassembled stacks only need to have the fittings screwed into place before they are ready to use as described in the instruction manual. To produce electricity, these stacks require a hydrogen source for fuel and a pressurized air supply. In addition to the experiments that can be conducted on the HA Series fuel cells, several experiments can be carried out on the effect of air flow rate and inlet air humidity on stack power output, since the HP stacks require a controlled air supply. With a humidity exchanger, water can also be captured from the air outlet and used to humidify incoming air. Fuel cells are available as build-it-yourself kits or as preassembled stacks. DM Series TekStak Products The DM Series is a family of products that has been developed for those with an interest in conducting in depth research into DMFC s, or direct methanol fuel cells.

5 DM Series TekStak Products The DM Series is a family of products that has been developed for those with an interest in conducting in depth research into DMFC s, or direct methanol fuel cells. These fuel cells use a methanol/water fuel solution (supplied by a pump- not included) and a pressurized air supply. Many topics can be investigated using the DM stacks including the ffect of fuel concentration, air flow rate, and stack temperature on stack power output. Advanced study on the phenomenon of methanol crossover may also be conducted. This technology is used in low power and portable applications where it is impractical to store or transport hydrogen gas. The disadvantage of this technology is the reduced power output. Product Information: MEA and Add-on Cell Kits: MEA (Membrane-Electrode Assembly) kits allow users to replace old or damaged cells. Add-on Cell kits can be purchased to expand the stack from its original size ro to replace damaged bipolar plates. Both kits include one MEA and replacement PTFE gaskets; the Add-on Cell kit also includes a graphite bipolar plate (BPP) so that users can increase the size and power output of their fuel cell stack. Due to the small size and low pressure of the canister, it is also an ideal fuel solution for customers who wish to use the fuel cell stack as a power source for mobile use (such as on a radio controlled car). Due to the Hazardous Materials shipping regulations that apply to hydride canisters, those canisters filled with hydrogen can only be shipped via ground to locations within the 8 Contiguous United States. Those who require air shipments may order the helium filled canister; once received, these canisters must be filled with hydrogen prior to use with the fuel cell stack. When the canister is empty, it can be refilled or sent back to the manufacturer for refilling from locations within the 8 Contiguous United States by ordering refill services from Parker and following the instructions provided. They include everything necessary to safely connect the hydride canister to a standard hydrogen-filled compressed gas cylinder with a standard CGA- type threaded fitting. A preset psig pressure regulator, high pressure tubing, brass adapter fittings, and detailed instruction ensure that the hydride canister can safely and easily be refilled.
