17 Smart Grid and Smart Mobilty for Smart Cities Smart Metering Infrastructures are becoming a reality worldwide and this is the fundamental step towards the Smart Grids and the Internet of Energy The Smart meter is becoming the backbone and the hub of the energy management at home and in eco-buildings (smart metering- > intelligent appliances) The Smart meter is the main building block of the recharging infrastructures in private and public areas Bitron together with ST is a prime supplier of Enel who have the current worldwide leadership in the deployment of smart energy metering and in energy saving products at home and in transports Oerlikon-Graziano is a prime supplier of automotive transmission for electric vehicles The partners involved are establishing a network of excellence with leading research, including Fraunhofer and Warsaw university of technology to support the competitivness of the whole European industry
