Enel today An international energy operator Presence in 40 countries Installed capacity 97,300 MW Annual production 294 TWh Customers 61 millions Employees 75,400
Enel Infrastructures and Networks Division Second largest DSO in Europe 2 nd largest DSO in Europe Employees 32 Millions customers 1,1 Millions Km of lines About Primary Substations (HV/MV) Over Secondary Substations (MV/LV) Opex x( /customer) Benchmark at European Level 2001 (128 min; 80 /Customer) (45 min; 52 /Customer) Advanced Technologies Quality of service (minutes interruption/year) Smart Metering Integration of Renewables Network Automation Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Active Demand Management Storage Systems
Technological Evolution The role of the innovative devices transforming our lifestyle Infrastructural Core Mobile Access Sensory Swarm From Mainframe Computing to Personal Computing towards Cloud Computing From Laptop to Tablet towards Smartphone Ubiquituous and Pervasive Computing 7 trillion of smart devices for 7 billion of citizens by 2020 We live in exponential times
Cities main problem but also the solution We are living exponential times. Technology and new behaviors are leading to new paradigms in many aspects of life. The City is becoming more and more protagonist in this transformation of society and it is already a key factor for economic growth and welfare. The Enel Group is aware of such (r)evolution and is developing solutions in every technologic and service dimension. Cities are economic drivers and places of business opportunities
European context Strategic legislative and operational drivers EU Goals (March 2007) and Third Energy package (September 2007) Large increase of unpredictable renewable energy sources Digital Agenda for Europe (May 2010) Energy Roadmap 2050 (December 2011) and Energy Efficiency Directive (October 2012) Market liberalization Technological and infrastructural evolution New paradigm in electricity consumption Smart Cities and Communities Innovation Partnership (July 2012) New services required from citizens about energy efficiency Green and Decarbonisedeconomy by
Evolution of traditional framework The new elements related to energy infrastructures Improving customers awareness about energy consumptions and Fostering the development of electric mobility through the Smart
The new role of infrastructures Integration of innovative systems Electricity Transportation Gas Communication Distributed Intelligence Electric Mobility Distributed Intelligence Broadband Actuator and Sensor Networks Broadband Connections Adaptive Control Artificial Intelligence Electronic Control Logic connections between vehicle and surrounding environment Self-Driving vehicles Smart Metering Real-time Balancing Electricity-Gas business models convergence Always-on Wireless Augmented-Reality Virtual-Reality An integrated and interoperable system

Smart Grids and Enel experience towards Smart Cities Smart Meter Smart Grids and Storage Public Lighting Archilede Electric Mobility Home Automation Telegestore is fully operational on > 32 Mln customers in Italy 13 Mlnof new generation meters will be installed in Spain before the end of 2018 Customers will have access to all information about their consumptions HV and MV network remotely operated More than MV substations remotely controlled Iserniapilot project to test different smart grids technologies for renewable integration, storage, Active Demand and electric mobility LED sold Avaregeenergy savings -51% (25,6 GWh/year) CO2 emissions avoided > ton/anno E-Mobility project (Pisa-Rome- Milan) 400 PoR Pilot projects in Spain: Movele (11 PoR Enel) and Carrefour (18 PoR Enel) Pilot project, funded by italian Regulator, to install 300 PoRin different cities (Bologna, Bari, Genoa, etc.) Developed Smart Info Pilot test in 2011 Metering data provided within customer premises by standard interfaces Enable integration with domotic systems or directly with domestic devices
Smart Cities Enel Worldwide projects Barcelona Endesa Spain Uso: Riservato L Aquila Enel Italy Genoa Enel Italy
L Aquila Smart City Enel main activities Enel Distribuzione in collaboration with the City of L Aquila and the Italian Ministry of Territorial Cohesion proposed a technological and infrastructural project that will set the bases for L Aquila to become a real Smart City. The project will be entirely funded by the reconstruction funds. Empowering of the existing electricity distribution grid in a Smart Grids way, in order to enable RES integration and to provide innovative services; Deployment throughout the territory of a recharge infrastructures network for electric vehicles; Widespread installation of Smart Info solution, covering all clients (roughly ), to create customer awareness on electric consumptions. The project will cover the overall territory of L Aquila with 19 million of investments
Uso: Riservato Smart City Bari A real case of integration with different Smart City solution based on Smart Grids Coordinator: Enel Distribuzione Main partners: General Electric Transportation Systems, IBM Italy, Polytechnic of Bari, National Council for Research, ENEA Budget: 24 million euro, on 32 months of activities New competence center Enel Distribuzione Urban Command Center to provide information for energy planning Car Port : Integrated system with photovoltaic roof for park, electric vehicles and points of recharge, Storage Energy Home to sensitize citizen towards energy efficiency Smart Grids to optimize energy flows, RES and Storage ICT solutions to manage energy district involving Solar Cooling plant Energy Box and BEMs To enable Active Demand
Emilia Romagna and Enel for an interoperable system From City to Region: a new mobility dimension The first project in Europe for the electric mobility at Regional Level 11 municipalities, crossed by via Emilia, are involved in the project and are equipped with recharge infrastructures for EV. Thanks to an important agreement signed by three DSOs Enel-Hera-Iren, that will ensure a complete interoperability of the recharge infrastructure system, it is now possible to recharge the vehicles by using a unique card link to a unique energy contract. A whole interoperability Region Enel s Grids BOLOGNA, REGGIO EMILIA, RIMINI, PIACENZA, FERRARA, RAVENNA, FORLì, CESENA Hera s Grid MODENA, IMOLA Iren s Grid PARMA
Consumers Empowerment An international energy operator address Smart Info SEE ANALYSE EXPLORE INTERACT CONTROL WATCH BROWSE ASSESS CONTROL Provide technological solutions to allow customers: Being aware and effectively manage their consumption Check household loads Access to consumption data in mobility Play an active role in the energy market Bidirectional communication with the distributor Goal is enabling active demand
Smart Cities Expected benefits Uso: Riservato Citizen Increasing consumer empowermentby enabling greater participation in electricity markets and energy efficiency; Enabling new energy efficiency services (e.g. electric mobility, Active Demand, etc.). Market Opening business opportunities and markets for new players in smart city arena. Utility Improving efficiency through reduction of operational costs and lower network losses; Increasing capacity to integrate RES plants; Creating new business opportunities linked to innovative services for citizen. Environment Contributing to energy efficiency and GHG emissions reduction. Smart projects will foster a new social and economical growth
