9 Rail line to the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link Project overview Current situation: single-track line; not electrified Maximum speed: 140 km/h Average speed: approx. 100 km/h Transport-related objectives: Demand-driven connection of the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link to the German rail network as per state agreement as commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Actions planned: Double-track electrified new line and expansion based on the results of the regional planning procedure. The intent is to shut down the existing line in the area of the Baltic resorts (Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz only). 11 Rail line to the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link Scope 26 km Noise protection 56 bridges New building of noise barriers A total of 26 kilometres of new noise barriers will be erected along the Lübeck to Puttgarden route. State-ofthe-art noise control is of great importance to the residents. New building of road and rail overpasses 23 road overpasses and 33 rail overpasses will be newly built for the rail link. All told, 56 bridges will be built for the new train path. 7 Halts New building of stations and halts A total of seven halts will be newly built for local and long-distance traffic. The platforms have a length of 170 metres to 320 metres. 6.5 m m³ Earth removals Massive earth removals In the Ostholstein region, the building work will necessitate the removal of large volumes of earth: some 3.8 million cubic metres of soil need to be removed, and approximately 2.7 million cubic metres of soil need to filled. 11 DB Netz AG I.NG-F Bernd Preußner und Momme Petersen

This also includes building 67 new points.
