1 Indicating GENERAL 28-40: INDICATING. General A. Fuel Quantity A dual reading fuel quantity indicator is displayed in the Fuel Qty block of the ENGINE page along calibrated vertical bars. The fuel quantity indicator indicates the amount of usable fuel remaining in each fuel tank. When the ENGINE page is not shown, all essential fuel information is shown on the engine strip displayed along the edge of the MFD. The LEFT pointer indicates left tank fuel quantity and sweeps a scale marked from 0 to 46 U.S. gallons. The RIGHT pointer sweeps an identical scale for the right tank. Each scale is marked with a red line at zero, a yellow band from 0 to 4 U.S. gallons, and a green band from 4 to 46 U.S. gallons. The indicators are calibrated to read 0 gallons when no usable fuel remains in level flight attitude. Two float type fuel quantity sensors are installed in each integral fuel tank, one on the inboard rib and one on the outboard rib. The fuel level sending units are not adjustable. Fluid quantity information is sent to the Engine Airframe Unit, processed, and transmitted to the Fuel Quantity Gage for display. 28 VDC for the fuel quantity system is supplied through the 3-amp FUEL QTY circuit breaker on Main Bus. B. Fuel Flow Fuel flow is shown in the upper right corner of the MFD as both a simulated pressure gage and as text. The simulated gage receives a signal from a fuel flow sensor on the right side of the engine in the fuel line between the throttle body metering valve and the injector manifold via the GEA 7 engine airframe unit. The gage sweeps a scale marked from 0 to 35 Gal/Hr in 2.5 Gal/Hr increments. Fuel flow rate is also continuously displayed in the engine data block located on the left side of the PFD. In the event fuel flow exceeds 30 Gal/Hr, the PFD will display Check Fuel Flow in a red advisory box in the lower right corner of the PFD. For maintenance practices pertinent to the fuel flow gage and sensor refer to Chapter 73, Engine Fuel System. (Refer to 73-00)

2 GENERAL C. Fuel Totalizer and Calculated Information Fuel totalizer calculations are located in the lower right section of the ENGINE page and are separate and independent of the fuel quantity gage and float sensor system. The fuel totalizer monitors fuel flow and calculates fuel-to-destination, fuel used, fuel remaining, time remaining, fuel range, and nautical miles per gallon. Upon system startup, the fuel totalizer initial fuel screen appears and prompts the user to enter the total fuel on board at start. The option to enter the number of gallons added since last fuel fill and the ability to set fuel to Full or to Tabs buttons is also available. For maintenance practices pertinent to MFD display refer to Chapter 3, Display Systems. (Refer to 3-60) D. Fuel System Annunciations Fuel system advisory, caution, and warning messages are displayed in color-coded text in Crew Alerting System (CAS) window located to right of the Altimeter and Vertical Speed Indicator. In combination with CAS alert, the affected fuel parameter displayed on the ENGINE page changes to corresponding color of CAS alert and the annunciation system issues an audio alert. A white Advisory message is generated when either fuel tank goes below 4 gallons. An amber Caution message is generated when both fuel tanks go below 4 gallons. A red Warning message is generated when the fuel totalizer amount goes below 9 gallons. Note that Warning message is generated based on fuel totalizer which is dependent on correct input by pilot. For maintenance practices pertinent to system annunciations and alerts refer to Chapter 3, Central Warning Systems. (Refer to 3-50) 2

3 2. Maintenance Practices A. Fuel Quantity Gage (Analog-Electric) (See Figure ) Fuel quantity is measured by a float type quantity sensors installed in the fuel tanks. Fluid quantity information is sent to the Engine Airframe Unit, processed, and transmitted to the analog electronic Fuel Quantity Gage and CAS window for display. () Adjustment/Test - Fuel Quantity Indication (a) Drain LH and RH fuel tanks and collector tanks. (Refer to 2-0) (b) Level airplane longitudinally and laterally. (Refer to 8-0), (Refer to 8-0) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) (j) (k) (l) (m) (n) NOTE To achieve the required fuel quantity precision, it is recommended that the fuel quantities be weighed with a calibrated scale. Fuel density of 6 lbs/gallon is acceptable for purposes of this procedure. Set the fuel selector to OFF. Connect 28 VDC external power supply to the aircraft. Add /-0.0 gallons of unusable fuel to each tank and allow fuel to settle. Pull MFD A, MFD B, PFD A, and PFD B circuit breakers. On MFD and PFD, remove and retain any SD cards from top and bottom SD card slots. Set BAT, BAT 2, and AVIONICS switches to ON positions. While holding [ENT] key on PFD, restore power by closing PFD circuit breakers. When words Initializing System appear in upper left corner of PFD, release [ENT] key. Restore power to MFD. (PFD should now be in Configuration mode, and MFD should be in Normal mode). On MFD, press ENGINE softkey to display full page engine instrumentation. Using PFD, go to FUEL TANK CALIBRATION page. Press softkeys 2,, 0, and 9 in order to unlock this page: NOTE Press TNK SEL softkey to activate cursor in CURRENT TANK field. Rotate FMS knob to select RIGHT or LEFT tanks. 3

4 (o) (p) (q) (r) Empty Calibration: Verify that unusable fuel ( /-0.0 gallons) has been added to both tanks. Allow both fuel probes to stabilize for at least 2 minutes. 2 Select LEFT tank on PFD. 3 Press EMPTY softkey. The ACTUAL FUEL QUANTITY field value will default to 00.00, and cursor will automatically activate and select CALIBRATE? option. 4 Press [ENT] key. If prompt appears requesting overwrite acknowledgment, select YES and press [ENT] key. The Perspective+ system will zero ACTUAL FUEL QUANTITY field value to be displayed at current CALIBRATED VALUE. 5 Observe CALIBRATED TOTAL indication for LEFT tank. Verify it remains On MFD, verify fuel quantity indicators correctly point to 0. 7 Repeat empty calibration for RIGHT tank. Tank Calibration: Fill LEFT tank with a specified volume of usable fuel at 5.0±0.5 gallons. NOTE Dispensed usuable fuel shall be measured to within 0.5% accuracy (Actual vs. Indicated). Typically, fuel dispensing equipment that is certified for retail sale of fuel by the state Division of Weights and Measures exceeds 0.5% accuracy. 2 Allow fuel probe to stabilize at least 2 minutes. 3 Enter dispensed fuel volume into ACTUAL FUEL QUANTITY field and press [ENT] key. The cursor automatically selects CALIBRATE? Option. 4 Press [ENT] key again to calibrate, setting the ACTUAL FUEL QUANTITY to be displayed at the current CALIBRATED VALUE. 5 Verify a corresponding point appears in CALIBRATION TABLE. 6 Verify that CALIBRATED TOTAL value equals amount of usable fuel added to tank. 7 On MFD, verify fuel quantity indicators correctly point to usable fuel added to tank. 8 Repeat tank calibration for RIGHT tank. 9 Repeat tank calibration with specified volumes of usable fuel at 30, 40, and 46 (±0.5) gallons. Re-install any retained SD cards to top and bottom SD card slots on MFD and PFD. Reset MFD A, MFD B, PFD A, and PFD B circuit breakers. 4
