1 National Fire Protection Association 1 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA Phone: Fax: MEMORANDUM To: From: NFPA Technical Committee on Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Colleen Kelly, Adminstrator Technical Projects Date: February 25, 2015 Subject: NFPA 414 First Draft TC Supplemental Ballot Results FR-6 (A2016) According to the final ballot results, the supplemental ballot item for FR-6 received the necessary affirmative votes to pass ballot. 32 Members Eligible to Vote 6 Not Returned (Costa, Davidson, Goodnight, Lanter, Matheson, Voisine) 5 Affirmative 20 Affirmative with Comment (Back, Bagot, Day, Deniston, Gray, Greenup, Jones, Kann, Krause, Listerman, Maddox, Major, Mangels, Mathis, McDonald, Phillips, Podolske, Shively, Souza, Toten) 0 Negative 1 Abstain (Colet) The attached report shows the number of affirmative, negative, and abstaining votes as well as the explanation of the vote for the supplemental revision. There are two criteria necessary for the supplemental revision to pass ballot: (1) simple majority and (2) affirmative 2 / 3 vote. The mock examples below show how the calculations are determined. (1) Example for Simple Majority: Assuming there are 20 vote eligible committee members, 11 affirmative votes are required to pass ballot. (Sample calculation: 20 members eligible to vote 2 = = 11) (2) Example for Affirmative 2 / 3 : Assuming there are 20 vote eligible committee members and 1 member did not return their ballot and 2 members abstained, the number of affirmative votes required would be 12. (Sample calculation: 20 members eligble to vote 1 not returned 2 abstentions = 17 x 0.66 = = 12 ) As always please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

4 The design criteria for the standard vehicles described by this document consider temperature extremes ranging from 0 C to 43.3 C (32 F to 110 F). For cold weather operation where temperatures range from 40 C to 0 C ( 40 F to 32 F) or lower, some type of winterization system shall be specified by the purchaser. Vehicles shall comply with Table 4.1.1(a), Table 4.1.1(b), Table 4.1.1(c), Table 4.1.1(d), and other requirements in this chapter.
