INTRODUCTION All Civilian Airports under Airports Authority of India / Defence Efforts to develop Greenfield International Airports under PPP mode started in 2004 Bangalore and Hyderabad International Airport projects taken up in 2005 Mumbai and Delhi Airport projects taken up in 2008 SPVs formed Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) and Hyderabad International Airport Limited (HIAL), MIAL for Mumbai and DIAL for Delhi

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Conventional Binder used for Runways : Bitumen 60/70 Year 2006 : Initial engagement for Binder for HIAL and BIAL Project Consultant initially proposed a binder with PI > 0.2 for Wearing Course PI achieved through Bitumen modification through Poly Phosphoric Acid Trial loads were satisfactorily laid However Consultant didn t want PPA modified binder Specifications revised to SBS modified PMA
