4 The ISO DME standards 2 ISO working groups works on DME standards The ISO TC28/SC5/WG4 managed by Mr. Kozo Harada and now by Mr. Saburo Haruta works on DME sampling and DME measurement and calculation. The group has published the ISO and starts another standard in July The ISO TC28/SC4/WG13 managed by Mr. François Bollon about DME specification and associated test-methods. The working group 13 has been agreed by ISO TC28 in April 2007 The WG13 held 10 meetings since September 2007 The Annual Plenary Session of ISO TC28 on May 2010 agreed to start a New Working Item (NWI) on DME specification standard which means that the standard must be issued within 3 years. For the test-methods associated to DME specification standard a Join Working Group will be created to gather the people of WG13 and of TC28 willing to work on DME test-methods 4

6 The ISO DME standards 2 other ISO standards about DME for test-methods are under scrutiny DME (Di-methyl ether) for fuels Determination of sulfur content by ISO DME (Di-methyl ether) for fuels Determination of Residue content after evaporation and dryness by modifying the JIS standard JLPGA- S-05 The test-methods standards must be reproducible and repeatable They must be confirmed by round-robin tests 9 laboratories agreed until now to be part of these roundrobin tests (1 Canadian, 1 Egyptian, 3 Japanese, 2 Korean, 1 Polish, 1 Swedish) 6

8 The ISO DME standards Need your help for Pushing the ISO TC28 members (National ISO organizations) to participe the ballots for DME standards Giving your opinion to your National ISO organization about the drafts of the ISO DME standards Pushing laboratories of chemical analysis to join the DME test-methods round-robin tests Improving the number of experts working on DME standardization especially from countries like USA and Russia 8

9 The DME regulations Regulations are local, national or regional affairs The development of DME can be hindered by the absence of regulations. The development of LPG/DME blends in China has been stopped due to lack of decisions on DME regulations about: The percentage of DME which can be mixed with LPG The kind of cylinders usable for these blends The safety conditions of producing, transporting, handling, storing, filling, using DME/LPG blends Recently the Guangdong Province of China proposed a draft of a regulation on DME/LPG blends: 液化石油气二甲醚复合燃料 9
