W Ex n cast iron range The Brook Crompton W Ex n motor range covers products with outputs from as little as 0.1kW to 00kW in frame sizes 0 to 3L. Motors are manufactured in our factory that is licenced by a European notified body (EECS / SGS Baseefa, PTB) which meet rigorous quality controls. The Voluntary greement, since 9, of CEMEP for motor manufactures has expired (classes EFF3 /EFF/EFF1). The new standard for motors is now mandatory regulation in Europe. The scope of EU MEPS covers, & pole single speed 3ph induction motors from 0.7 to 37kW, rated up to 00V based on continuous duty operation. iming to reduce energy consumption throughout Europe and the rest of the world, it comes into effect in 3 stages. The effect of this is to maximise potential savings in electric motor driven systems. Base of the regulation is a new international IEC 00 standard. It defines the following efficiency classes : IE1 Standard Efficiency (comparable to EFF) IE High Efficiency (comparable to EFF1 and US EPCT 0 Hz) Premium Efficiency (comparable to US NEM Premium 0 Hz) New Efficiency levels in Europe (Time Line) Mandatory from: Since 1 January 01: Minimum efficiency requirement at level for 7. 37kW motors or IE level for motors equipped with an appropriate variable speed drive. From 1 January 017: Minimum efficiency requirement at level for kW motors or IE level for motors equipped with an appropriate variable speed drive.

General The construction of Ex n motors is similar to standard TEFV motors, but with special attention to eliminate production of arcs, sparks or dangerous surface temperatures. ir gap concentricity is rigidly inspected throughout manufacture, and the structure of the motor is impacttested. ll motors comply with the requirements of the TEX Directive (01/3/EU). Temperature class n important feature of the motor design is the limitation imposed on the external or internal surface temperature that can be attained under all conditions except starting. This range of motors is suitable for use in gases with auto ignition temperature not lower than T3, ie 00 C. For temperature classes T, T and T please consult Brook Crompton. (M). Some installations may be subjected to more than one type of hazard. The presence of gases and vapours etc may occur with combustible dusts. Under these circumstances, it is possible to supply motors with certification for both hazards. Further details are available from Brook Crompton. Impact cover / drip proof canopy Designed to prevent the ingress of falling foreign bodies, impact covers are fitted on motors when mounted vertically, shaft down. This is a mandatory requirement. dd the following to the overal length of the motor (L) when fitted with an impact / drip proof canopy Frame size LX extra length in mm Suitability for frequency converter drive Inverter operation of explosion protected three phase motors is only permissible if the motors are manufactured, tested, certified and specifically marked for this type of operation. For operation with an inverter, motors are equipped with PTC thermistors. To ensure compliance with the limits of the temperature class, the data from the thermistor must be analysed by suitable equipment. Inverter motors will be fitted with an extra plate. Before starting the motor, check the ratings of this extra plate (kw, Hz, torque) indicated. The user must contact the manufacturer if this information is not provided. General The Brook Crompton Ex n EEMU motor range covers products from 0.1kW to 0kW. Standards ll motors comply with the requirements of EEMU (The Engineering Equipment & Materials Users ssociation) Pub no 13 and with leading petrochemical industry specifications. They are manufactured in accordance with EN 001 and are certified for use in Zone, hazardous areas. Performance In accordance with BS 000 Part 99 & IEC0031. Motors up to and including 0kW rated output have a starting characteristic in accordance with BS 999 Part 1, design N. Motors above 0kW rated output have a characteristic in accordance with design D.
