2 PR - The Pump that was designed with the Processor md The Tri-Clover PR le was designed to overcome many of the traditionally troublesome operatg and matenance difficulties which our customers have experienced with conventional positive displacement pumps. Meetg these requirements, combed with precision fabrication and strict adherence to sanitary standards, have accorded the PR pump prompt and widespread acceptance wherever product is processed, hygienically, volume. All PRE/PRED pumps are designed to be compliance with A and other regulatory standards. The design features described below make PR the low matenance, easy to live with pump for application. (Series PR illustrated features also apply to PRE and PRED). LURICATION... separate oil lubrication for timg gears. Dual compartment gear/ bearg housg design assures that any condensates or contamants present are flushed through beargs and sealed off from timg gear housg. Gear Housg earg Housg LOCATING RING... is pressed to frame bearg bores to promote rigidity and accurate alignment of pump casg so that proper clearance with fluid head will prolong wear life and operatg efficiency. Wide locatg area of rg permits numerable assemblies and disassemblies of pump without rg replacement - and the need to realign pump head. Short ( /6" (4.8) or less) engagement of rg to casg permits easy takedown and assembly without cockg, bdg, or haerg. A SHAFT ASSEMLY... easily terchanged field. Sple is voluted to present maximum contact between shaft and rotor profiles; and is located, relation to timg gears and keyways, so that rotors are fully terchangeable. Two large teeth, A,locate rotor for proper timg and fast assembly. Tru-Arc Rgs,, positively locate complete shaft assemblies and timg gears, elimatg troublesome shig. Precision machg permits full terchange of top and bottom shaft assemblies, field, with mimum of time and effort. GEARS... and shafts are factory pretimed and designed so that either one or both gears can be removed and replaced the field without removal of shaft or beargs. Each gear and shaft assembly is assembled with two woodruff keys for rigidity and long service life. Design elimates need for threads or hubs... No hard-to-clean recesses product zone. ROTORS*... available two- or four-lobe polymer composition rotors serve most product or flow requirements. Polymer rotor is recoended for abrasive products. Wear is compensated for by creased RPM. 3 A complete range of sizes and seal styles to match your pumpg requirements PR Series Seal Rg Wear Rg Casg Static O-rg Shaft PR Seal Assembly Static O-rg The construction features outled on page add up to rigid, efficient and matenance-free service when you put PR on the le. Unlike many positive pumps, the design of PR acknowledges your need for periodic takedown and reassembly. The PR Series is recoended for most transfer operations where temperatures do not exceed 00 F (9 C) and where products are nonabrasive or non-tacky. Leak-tight sealg action... with static o-rg sanitary seal. All o-rgs contact non-rotatg surfaces. Static o-rg design of rotary seal reduces friction to mimize wear and leakage and crease seal life. Sealg members consist of staless steel seal rgs with carbon-bonded sert, SS wear rg broached to match shaft sple to assure positive drive, and static o-rgs to seal off any pumpage. Sealg action takes place between carbon sert of seal rg, held stationary pump casg, and face of positively driven wear rg. Equally good seal life is assured under either high pressure or vacuum operations. A water flush attachment, which can be stalled the field, is available for pumpg service requirg it. PRE/PRED Series This le of PR pumps was troduced to provide optimum pumpg performance on hot, tacky or viscous products. It provides a high degree of leakage detection and leakage safeguard capability. The same static o- rg seal prciple as the PR Series (described at left) is used. Two series are available: PRE Series Sgle Seal. Ideal for use where visual leak detection is important. PRED Series Double Seal. For use where water flush is desirable, i.e., on evaporator operations, liquid sugar, tacky products such as corn syrup. Additional protection for applications: requirg compatible solvent or water-flush requirg pressurized seal chamber. (Seal can be mataed at pressures above pump head pressure). Seal Rg Casg Static O-rgs Static O-rgs Seal Rg Wear Rg Adjustment Rg Shaft PRED Seal Assembly (PRE seal assembly does not clude second seal shown green) with products that tend to buildup between seal faces, latex, PVA, etc. These Series have a seal chamber to permit use of solvents or water for seal lubrication. On double seal pumps, chamber may be pressurized or nonpressurized, dependg upon application. Side mountg allows the product to enter the pumpg chamber by gravity flow from the outlet of tanks, vats or kettles, thus elimatg all restrictions on the let side of the pump. Can be equipped with constant speed or variable speed drives. Available with standard let or with rectangular type let as shown. This drive system capability is highly cost efficient terms of itial cost, potential energy savgs, and its ability to provide pumpg control that can reduce error, boost production, and crease raw material yield. An AC controller your system can accept a signal from a computer, PC controller, or pressure/flow sensg strument. Tri-Clover offers a variety of AC controllers, from ½ HP and up, for our positive pumps.

4 Application Data Viscosity Affects Pump Efficiency Rotary pumps are capable of transferrg materials havg viscosities as high as,000,000 SSU. However, it is necessary to apply correction factors to the performance curves order to obta the correct pump and motor size for use with viscous materials. These correction factors may be obtaed from the curves shown here. Their use can best be explaed by a sample pump selection: Pump Requirements 5 GPM at 0 PSI with material havg a viscosity of 50,000 SSU. Referrg to the curves, we fd the followg correction factors Percent of maximum rated speed = % Horsepower multiplyg factor =.6 Applyg the % speed correction factor to the maximum speed shown on the pump performance curves results the followg maximum pump speeds with 50,000 SSU product: Models and 0: 600 RPM from curve X. = RPM Models 6, 60, 5 and 00: 500 RPM from curve X. = 0 RPM Therefore, with 50,000 SSU product, if a Model or 0 pump is used, the speed of the pump must be 0 RPM or less. 5 GPM will require at least a Model 5 pump. Reviewg the performance curves to fd a pump that will deliver 5 GPM at 0 PSI with 0 RPM or less, we fd that a Model 5 pump is required. It will operate at 05 RPM and requires a.9 HP motor for water or milk. Applyg the.6 horsepower factor to the 8 HP we fd the HP requirement is. HP. It will be necessary to use a ½ HP motor. Therefore, for 5 GPM at 0 PSI with 50,000 SSU product a Model 5 operatg at 05 RPM with a ½ HP motor is required. 4

The horsepower required 5 HP. REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE... to fd the revolutions per mute for 5,000 pounds at 80 pounds head pressure Locate 5,000 pounds on the Pounds Per Hour Column. Follow this pot of the graph until tersects the RPM curve for 80 PSI. Then follow a vertical le to the Revolutions Per Mute Column shown across the bottom of the graph. The revolutions per mute required 45 RPM. If capacities are based on gallons per mute, use column shown on the right side of the graph.
