It is essential for deep embedment and large diameter holes due to its longer working time and zero shrinkage. For use with both carbide & diamond drilled holes, and in areas of high chemical exposure. When areas of installation are affected by critical factors such as seismic activity and elevated long term service temperatures EF500R is a must have solution. 20 EF500R INSTALLATION PARAMETERS: DRILLING HOLE CLEANING AND INSTALLATION 1 1. Using a rotary hammer drill a hole into the base material to the required diameter & embedment depth for the selected anchor (see Table M1.). ATTENTION Standing water in bored hole must be removed before cleaning. 2 x2 x2 2A. Starting from the bottom of the bored hole, blow the hole clean of debris and containments using compressed air (min. 6 bar) or with a hand pump for a minimum of two times. If the bottom of bored hole cannot be reached an extension shall be used. A hand pump can be used for anchor/bore sizes up to 20 mm in diameter. For bore holes larger than 20 mm or deeper than 240 mm, compressed air (min. 6 bar) must be used. 2B. Brush the hole with the appropriate sized wire brush (see Table M2.) a minimum of two times. A hand brush shall be used for standard anchor embedment. If the bottom of bored hole cannot be reached a rotary percussive brush adaptor and extension shall be used. 2 x2 x2 Repeat Step 2A. The hole will be cleared once more using compressed air. After cleaning, the bored hole must be protected against re-contamination in an appropriate manner until the mortar has been dispensed into the hole. If necessary the hold cleaning will need to be repeated directly before dispensing the mortar. If the area is surrounded by flowing water ensure the bored hole is not contaminated again once cleaned Attach a supplied static-mixer nozzle to the cartridge and load the cartridge in the correct dispensing tool. For every working interruption longer than the recommended working time (see Table K1.) as well for new cartridges a new static-mixer nozzle shall be used. Prior to inserting the anchor rod into the filled bored hole, the embedment depth shall be marked on the anchor rods. 4 5cm 4. Prior to injection into the bored hole, squeeze out separately a minimum of three full strokes and discard any non-uniform mixed adhesive components until mortar shows a consistent colour Inject adhesive starting from the bottom of the hole, fill the hole to approximately 2/3 with the adhesive. Slowly withdraw the static-mixer as the hole fills to avoid creating air pockets. For embedment larger than 190mm an extension nozzle shall be used. For overhead and horizontal installation in bored holes larger than Ø 20 mm a piston plug and extension nozzle shall be used. Observe the gel/working times given in Table K1. 21 TECHNICAL DATA SHEET: 6 6. Push the threaded rod or rebar into the hole while turning slightly to ensure positive distribution of the adhesive until the embedment depth is reached. The anchor should be free of dirt, grease, oil and other foreign containments. 7 t cure Be sure that the anchor is fully seated at the bottom of the hole and that excess mortar is visible at the top of the hole. If these requirements are not maintained, the application has to be renewed. For overhead application the anchor rod should be secured ie with wedges 7. 22 EF500R DIAMOND CORE HOLES: INSTALLATION PROCEDURE Some Chemical Injection systems by nature shrink during the curing process, reducing performance and is therefore unsuitable for installation in diamond core drilled operations. The Allfasteners EF500R is an epoxy chemical injection that does not experience shrinkage once cured and is equally suitable in both hammer drilling and core drilling operations. The superior performance of the EF500R allows the chemical to be used in oversized holes, cracked concrete, wet and flooded concrete. The thixotropic nature of EF500R allows for horizontal and vertical (overhead) application where high viscosity characteristics are desirable. Diamond Core Drilling With Wet Cutting System Standard installation and anchor hole preparation should be followed for rebar and threaded rod with some adjustments. Drill a hole to the correct diameter and depth using a diamond core cutting bit. Check the perpendicularity of the hole during the drilling operation. Potable water or other liquid may be used to help the cutting process as wet cutting agent. Flooding. Flush the hole of contaminants prior to mortar injection by flooding the holes with water until it becomes clear. Using a wire brush clean the surface of the hole start from the entry point all the way to the bottom, completing the brush action with a reverse operation. Flush the holes with water until it becomes clear. Blow compressed air into the bottom of the hole until no foreign material is evacuated. Deep Drilled Embedments >250mm Extension components should be used to reach the bottom of deep drilled embedments. Use a compressed air extension gun with the appropriate reach for the hole depth. An appropriate size SDS-Wire Brush with adapter and extension bit should be used in this instance. Using an SDS Drill will ensure the drilled hole is properly cleaned. Use plastic extension tubes and piston plugs to ensure the bottom of deep drilled embedments are reached. The appropriate sized piston plug should be attached to the end of the mixer nozzle to ensure deep drilled holes are injected correctly.
