5 President s Report 5 Well Folks where is the year going too???? It is cruising by as steady as a Yankee car on a freeway. W e have been having some really good turn outs to this years events, and we are really delighted with all the members who have been enjoying the club runs, and club cruises, such as the recent All Ford Day w ith our largest turn out to this event so far, (w ell done everyone) and it was a fantastic, Sunny, Queensland Day. We would like to invite all our members to the Thunderbirds Xmas Party 2012 our co-hosts are Alan and Linda Hoggart at there place in Jimboomba, we have had good response from members about the Hungi, and we are expecting a really good turn out on the night Folks. Xmas Hungi, Saturday night 24 th November (last weekend in November) pop it in your calendar, bring your tables and chairs, drinks and nibbles, and enjoy the night catching up with friends and fellow Ford classic devotees. Thanks to Alan and Linda for there offer to hold this years event, we where really delighted to except, and are looking forward to a really good social night, arriving around 2pm for Xm as nibbles, with Dinner serving around 4.30pm. Come join us folks and have a great evening.. For the Xmas Period, the Committee would like to extend there best wishes and a Safe and happy Xmas break, and a huge thank you to everyone we got to meet during the year. And we look forward to seeing you at Bills Breaky Bash in the New Year. The Club would like to welcome new members Stephen & Miqueline Hunter in their lovely little 55 Roadster. Look forward to seeing you soon. If your looking for a cruise on the 4 th November, I can highly recommend the North Pine County classic car show, it a huge turn out w ith the O ld Township shops open. It s a real head turner and a great day out. The Next Club Run is the YANKEE DOODLE ALL AMERICAN CAR CRUISE, this is Dave s little Baby, and is a brand new location for this year, it will be a very enjoyable day and we would like to welcome all members, and any friends with an American classic to join us for the day, this is an open to all event folks. SUNDOWNER SALOON on the W arrego Hwy heading to Marburg, its around a 45klm trip 40 min. M EETING POINT. Rocklea BP Truck stop Boundary Road Rocklea, (From Ipswich Rd out bound, take the Randolph St Exit to Boundary Rd) Th en next on the Even ts calend ar is Lakeside All American Thanksgiving Day on the 4 th of November a great day, and an event where we get to see some of these classics cruising and the 1/8 drags really draws the crowds close to the fence to see those street and not so street classics light em up. 6 Editor s Report Thunderbirds Are Go! And I am having trouble keeping up! Did you check tha cover, a lot of Pink to polish, that s FAB 1 from the movie Thunderbirds. So it s a good thing KC has been hammering out the info to you all via keeping up to date with events and runs, sorry the mag is a bit late, so long as I get it out there before Christmas, Ho Ho!! Welcome to all our new members, hopefully we shall have a bunch of photo s of members rides next issue, along with stories on the Yankee Doodle Cruise and the Hood s Airplane Tug, a story that I lost in cyberspace, looking for somewhere to land. I ll catch you all at the Hoggart s Christmas Hungi, if not then a Cool Yule to you. 8 NINGI NIGHT RUN We had a really good show of members for this run it was just terrific. We had 15 cars from the Thunderbirds collection, 2 from the Ford club, and Anne Marie and friends from the All Classic club, bringing the total to 20 cars. On the Ningi Night Run Barry Ralph lead the Cruise starting from the Shell Nudgee heading of down the freeway towards Caboolture where the rest of the crew where waiting. It was wonderful to see 5 of our members from the North side of town joining in at the Caboolture pick up point, and after a few phone calls to get the timing right, and the engines idling, the south side crew arrived at the Caboolture BP twin where we combined into the cruise in the service lane of the BP, and headed of to the overpass to Ningi. All but for one set of lights we had a seamless cruise that went like clockwork, Great Job! Barry. Gavin Pocock was along for the evening, but didn t quite have the bugs ironed out in his lovely 57 T/Bird of chassis restoration a couple of the cylinders didn t want to play on the day. But he did have it up and running like a charm for the All Ford Day, and it is looking a real treat. Yes we did have some competition for the evening with the AFL footy final on, and there where not as many cars at the Show as normally rock up, but the event was set up really well, the food was good, and we didn t go un-noticed, with the Ningi Takeaway and LJ s pizza nominating the club the nights trophy, the very interesting transformer looking critter in the photo for the number of cars and the distance we had travelled to the show. It rounded of what was a really nice social night and a good, long freeway cruise for the cars. Alan and Linda Hoggart travelled a good distance, 109klms from Jimboomba, in there 66 T/ bird Landau, which Alan only in recent times purchased from the states, and they really enjoyed giving the car a good long run. Alan and Linda have are also been so kind as to co-host our Christmas Party at their place this year, and we are all looking forward to the evening. All in all, the evening was a great success, and the consensus was that night runs are a great idea, and we look forward to organising another one in the New Year. 10 30 th Annual All Ford Day Queensland s Largest Ford Show, Ford Clubs and All Ford cars 10 Another great day, another great tun out, and yes another fabulous Queensland Spring Day. Gavin Pocock had his awesome Red 57 at the show, having ironed out the missing V8 running as V4, it was ticking over quite as gentle as you could please, plus came away with 1 st place in the Ford Day Individual Club Trophy s 2 nd was Barry Ralph s 73 Lincoln and always an impressive car was Robert Cupo 63 hard top in 3 rd. there where plenty of impressive cars on display, and with a bit of shade to sit under, a good catch up and chat was had by all. We had a really good turn out for the show, with 20 cars on display, with the announcers mentioning over the PA that the Thunderbirds had there best turn out. The swap meet had plenty to offer for all, found myself a couple of Galaxie scripts, and had a chat about retractable seat belts for the back seat of my old girl. All and all folks, with the feet up, a cuppa and some great company, it was a very relaxing Queensland morning with plenty to look at and see Harrigan s Rod and Custom Show ended up on the same day, as much as the organisers of both events had tried for this not to happen, the event gods thought they thought they would throw in a curve ball and the dates came out the same. Never mind, Alan and Linda Hoggart went along to both events, and had a thoroughly good day, and as per last year, they had bumper crowds, live music and plenty of chrome on display. We would love to see you at the next run, so come along and join us, keep those classics

13 13 Last issue we showed Thunderbirds racing in the sixties at Daytona. It was great to see a Tbird being run on a track in New Zealand recently.
