15 MACCHINE PER LA LAVORAZIONE DELLA LAMIERA During the latest years, Somo has acquired a great experience in the production of bending installations made of different bending presses for the production of special items. An exampleof this are the automatic installations recently built by the San Pietro all Olmo-based company, and destined to the production of round and polygonal lighting poles and towers. This is a sector which is widely spreading out in Italy as well as abroad, and Somo is acquiring a prestigious position thanks to the know-how acquired in the production of high-quality installations. This position is strengthened by the company s capacity to supply to its customers complete installations key in hand, and specially intended for this type of production. The company s activity is carried out with the co-operation of companies specialising in the different sectors of the article s production cycle. They are essentially installations based on 3 or 4 combined bending presses, with an overall bending force from 14,000 to 20, kn and a bending length between 14 and 18 metres. One of the most important technical aspects to take care of on this type of installations is the correct handling of the beam s downward and upward motion..in this regard, each press is equipped with a DNC and all the DNC are simultaneously controlled by a control console managed by P.C. Of course, in addition to the bending axes, also the axes used for managing eventual manipulators and sheet feeders are controlled

This is another field in which Somo has acquired a great experience in a small but important market segment concerning the production of installations for the manufacturing of big size tubes More in detail it for the manufacturing of big-size tubes. More in detail, it concerns the tubes with a maximum diameter of 2,000 mm, thickness up to 60 mm and maximum lengths of 15,000 mm. In this case, the needed powers are extremely higher than those normally used in the common bending I th l t t b f i t ll ti presses. In the latest years a number of installations offering innovative solutions and absolute value have been built in order to increasingly speed the process.

17 MACCHINE PER LA LAVORAZIONE DELLA LAMIERA A significant example concerns an installation set up in a Veneto-based company and made up of three triplex bending presses for an overall power of 60,000 kn and an overall length of 12 metres. The installation is equipped of manipulators for handling the sheets and of a lower adjustable opening die which is completely managed by numerical control The most prestigious installation is made up of a single portal press brake with a power of 60,000 kn for a length of 15 metres. Also in this case, the unit is supplied complete with front and rear manipulators/tilting arms, adjustable opening dies and special equipment for carrying out the crimping process. This installation demonstrates without any doubt that Somo stands out for its capacity to produce big-size installations with characteristics and qualities able to meet all the customer needs.
