7 MISLIGMET: The principle of operation of the gear couplings, synthetically illustrate in Figure 2, is base on fitting of the external toothing of the hub with the internal toothing of the sleeve, which allows the transmission of torque between the flanges. The relative offset is compensate by the axial movement of the internal gear teeth on the outer toothing. 35 ISTLLTIO, MITECE & LURICTIO Instructions for installation: 1) Disassemble the GGT gear coupling into its main components hubs an sleeves. 2) Ensure that all components are clean. 3) Place the sleeves or flanges seal covers on the shafts. 4) Run the pitch of the hubs on the shafts, if you procee to heating of the hubs, never excee a temperature of 170 C. 5) To ensure optimum lifetime of the GGT gear coupling is necessary to perform the alignment of the shafts in a scrupulous way. To perform the alignment, use a comparator fixe on one of the two hubs an make it rotate on the other hub (fig.8), reaing the value ivie by two gives the value of the parallel misalignment. The angular misalignment must be checke with a comparator fixe on a hub an mae to rotate on the facae of the other hub (fig.8), or with controlle thickness gauge in at least three position at 120 C (fig.9). In case of installation of gear couplings complete with extensions run laser alignment, if you can not use the laser, follow the instructions accoring to the figure 10. 6) fter the shaft alignment is execute, procee with the lubrication of the seals an the installation of the sleeves on the hubs. 7) Put together the sleeves using the screws provie with the gear coupling, that have to be tightene at the proper torque. 36 8) To obtain an aequate lifetime of the coupling, the proper lubrication is a critical step: run the filling through the grease nipples places on the sleeves until total filling of the same. In the perios immeiately after the start-up, lubricate every two months, then every four months. Every two years or 10,000 hours of operation, perform the complete replacement of the grease. The GGT gear couplings are supplie with no lubricant. If the coupling is equippe with self-lubricating evice you nee to fill only once a year, the same will automatically be istributing it evenly to the joint.
