3 INTRODUCTION. Between August 24 th and September 4 th, 2007, undertook a small magnetic and induced polarization (I.P.) survey over parts of the Thor property, located some 220 kilometres due north of Smithers, British Columbia, for Electrum Resources Corporation. The survey was carried out over three 800 metre spaced east west lines established by personnel contracted by Electrum, namely CJL Enterprises of Smithers. Readings of the earth s total magnetic field were recorded using a GSM 19 proton precession magnetometer on the magnetic survey, while measurements first to sixth separation of apparent chargeability the I.P. response parameter and resistivity were made on each of the line traverses using the pole- dipole technique with a 50 metre dipole. In addition the elevations and horizontal locations of the line stations were measured using a Brunton altimeter and a hand held Garmin C60 GPS unit respectively. The I.P. data are presented as individual pseudo sections at a scale of 1:5000 while the magnetic data is shown as profiles on the pseudo sections. In addition the magnetic data is presented as profiles at 1:20,000 for comparison with the results of a previously flown airborne survey.
4 PROPERTY, LOCATION & ACCESS The property is located in the Omineca Mining Division of British Columbia and consists of the following : Tenure Area (hectars) Expiry Date August 4 th January 17 th January 17 th January 17 th January 17 th January 17 th January 17 th January 17 th August 4 th August 4 th August 4 th August 4 th August 4 th August 4 th August 4 th August 4 th June 16 th June 19 th The claims are situated between 1300 and 2000 metres above sea level on the east side of the Moose Valley, some 20 kilometres south of the Kemess Mine. Access is generally obtained from McKenzie via the Kemess Mine Road Cheni Mine Road which passes within a couple of hundred metres from the western edge of the claim block. On this survey access was obtained southwards along the aforementioned road from the Sturdee strip where the crew was housed in a camp.
5 PURPOSE. The purpose of the survey was (a)to see if the small chargeability anomaly located on the east end of the most southerly line on the 2005 survey extended to the south and (b) to examine the response over the magnetic feature located on the west of the 1996 airborne survey, thought to be a possible intrusion beneath the postulated Sustut sediments.
6 PREVIOUS WORK. Previous work on the property consisted mostly of regional silt, soil and rock sampling by B.P. Minerals, Falconbridge and Asamera Minerals between the 1970 s and early 1990 s. This was followed by airborne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys, minor geological mapping and diamond drilling by San Telmo Resources in the late 90 s. In 2005 Electrum Resources carried out a small programme of soil sampling, mapping, magnetic and induced polarization surveying over three widely spaced east west trending traverses. For a more detailed account of the above, the reader is referred to reports on the property by C.F. Staargaard, P.Geo. dated June 1993 by Gordon Allen, P.Geo, dated August 1998, and by Peter E. Walcott dated January 2006.
7 GEOLOGY. The property is mainly underlain by mafic volcanics of the Upper Triassic Takla Group, consisting of augite-feldspar phyric basaltic flows, breccias and tuffs. These have been intruded by Early Jurassic stocks and dykes. The two most prominent are a large unaltered fine to medium grained diorite to quartz diorite that bounds the property to the east, and a smaller hornblende diorite stock that occupies most of Thor 2, also relatively unaltered. A prominent north northwest to northerly trending fault cuts across the western portion of the property the Moose Valley fault or a splay off of it the southern portion of which correlates with the large magnetic low and also marks the contact with the sediments of the Sustut Group to the west. Several mineral occurrences exist on the property. Most of them are described as veins and/or shears with varying amounts of pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, galena, malachite and azurite, although all are not always present. For more detailed information the reader is referred to the reports by Staargaard and Allen from which this information was gleaned.
8 SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS. Magnetic Survey. The magnetic survey was carried out using a GSM 19 proton precession magnetometer manufactured by GEM Instruments of Richmond Hill, Ontario. This instrument measures variations in the total intensity of the earth s magnetic field to an accuracy of plus or minus one nanotesla. Corrections for daily variations in the earth s field the diurnal were made by comparison with a similar instrument set up at a fixed location the base where recordings were made at 10 second intervals. The Induced Polarization Survey. The induced polarization (I.P.) survey was conducted using a pulse type system, the principal components of which were manufactured by Instrumentation GDD of Sainte Foy, Quebec, Canada and Iris Instruments of Orleans, France. The system consists basically of three units, a receiver (Iris), transmitter (Huntec) and a motor generator (Honda). The transmitter, which provides a maximum of 3.6 kw d.c. to the ground, obtains its power from a 5.0 kw 60 c.p.s. single phase alternator driven by a Honda 13 h.p. gasoline engine. The cycling rate of the transmitter is 2 seconds currenton and 2 seconds current-off with the pulses reversing continuously in polarity. The data recorded in the field consists of careful measurements of the current (I) in amperes flowing through the current electrodes C 1 and C 2, the primary voltages (V) appearing between any two sequential potential electrodes, P 1 through P n+1, during the current-on part of the cycle, and the apparent chargeability, (M a ) presented as a direct readout in millivolts per volt using a 200 millisecond delay and a 1000 millisecond sample window by the receiver, a digital receiver controlled by a micro-processor the sample window is actually the total of ten individual windows of 100 millisecond widths. The apparent resistivity ( a ) in ohm metres is proportional to the ratio of the primary voltage and the measured current, the proportionality factor depending on the geometry
9 SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS cont d of the array used. The chargeability and resistivity are called apparent as they are values which that portion of the earth sampled would have if it were homogeneous. As the earth sampled is usually inhomogenenous the calculated apparent chargeability and resistivity are functions of the actual chargeability and resistivity of the rocks. The survey was carried out using the pole-dipole method of surveying. In this method the current electrode, C 1, and the potential electrodes, P 1 through P n+1, are moved in unison along the survey lines at a spacing of a (the dipole) apart, while the second current electrode, C 2, is kept constant at infinity. The distance, na between C 1 and the nearest potential electrode generally controls the depth to be explored by the particular separation, n, traverse. On this survey a 50 metre dipole was employed and first to sixth separation readings were obtained. In all some 11.5 kilometres of I.P. and magnetic traversing were completed. Vertical control. The elevations of the stations were recorded using an ADC Summit altimeter manufactured by Brunton of Wyoming, U.S.A. This instrument measures elevations using barometric pressures to an accuracy of plus or minus 3 metres. Corrections for errors due to variations in atmospheric pressure were made by comparison to readings obtained on a similar instrument, held stationary at one location the base -, at 10 minute intervals. Horizontal control. The horizontal position of the stations were recorded using a Garmin C60 handheld GPS receiver with WAAS capability.
10 SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS cont d Data Presentation. The I.P. data are presented as individual pseudo section plots of apparent chargeability and resistivity at a scale of 1:5,000. Plots of the 21 point moving filter illustrated on the pseudo section for the above are also displayed in the top window to better show the location of the anomalous zones. The magnetic data are shown as profile plots on the above mentioned pseudo sections at a scale of 1:5,000.
11 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS. The results of the magnetic survey showed excellent agreement with those of the heliborne survey as can be seen by comparing the profiles on the 1:20,000 map with the contours of the scanned total field magnetic map held by Electrum. The eastern edge of the aforementioned magnetic high, thought to be a possible intrusion beneath the overlying Sustut Group rocks, is illustrated on the profile map. Higher background chargeability and resistivity are seen over the higher magnetics in the underlying Sustut Group rocks on the western portion of all three of the pseudo sections as was the case on Line 62982N on the 2005 survey. In fact the contact as shown on the magnetic profiles on Line and 96600N at 3000 and 3400E respectively is readily discernible on the resistivity plots with a pronounced low on the east. As this is not related to topography it would suggest that the magnetic depression is caused by a large fault zone. On Line where the magnetic contrast is more subtle as the gradient is moderated by a small high to the east, the contact is not evident on the resistivity plot. A broad area encompassing somewhat higher chargeabilities 9 s and 10 s as opposed to backgrounds of 7 s - can be seen on all three lines. It s limits are 1000 to 2400E on Line 97400N, 1250 to 2250E on Line 96600N and 1350 to 2200E on Line 95800N. These are not considered significant at this time. The moderate strong pant leg shaped chargeability anomaly observed circa 3900E on Line in 2005 was not discerned on Line 97400N, 800 metres to the south
12 SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS. Between August 24 th and September 4 th, 2007, Peter E. Walcott and Associates Limited carried out an 800 metre spaced three line traverse of reconnaissance magnetic and induced polarization surveying on the Thor property for Electrum Resources Corporation. The property is located some 20 kilometres south of the Kemess Mine in Northern British Columbia. The survey was an extension to the south of a similar survey conducted in The magnetic survey again showed good correlation with the previously flown heliborne survey, and along with the resistivity survey delineated the western boundary of a large fault zone. The induced polarization survey showed nearly all of the area traversed to be underlain by rocks of low chargeability indicative of very low sulphide content. As a result the writer recommends that no further work in the survey area be undertaken at this time. Respectfully submitted, PETER E. WALCOTT & ASSOCIATES LIMITED Peter E. Walcott, P.Eng.
