B Tech Tip: Self-Contained Suction For systems with self-contained suction, it is imperative to clean the evacuation system and purge the canister every day. The waste canister has an overflow shutoff to prevent the canister from being overfilled. To clean the evacuation system, ASI recommends using KeepClear. About ASI Holders We provide numerous size and types of holders to accommodate various instruments. They are designed to fit ASI s holder bar. Stropko Adapter Part No: (2 ) (4 ) Clear away dust and air-dry the canal system. Tech Tips: Handpiece auto-holder sticking or leaking air. If actuator ball sticks and doesn t pop out to allow handpiece to run when pressing the foot control, the ball may be stuck due to being gummed up from disinfectant. To clean, spray a mild solvent cleaner in and around the ball and then try moving the ball back and forth to free. If this fails to clear it the holder will need to be replaced. If the holder is leaking air around the actuator ball, it could be two different causes: the control block diaphragm has a hole in it and is allowing air to exhaust back out of the holder, or the o-rings inside the holder have dried out. Foot control sticking. If the disc is sticking or leaking air, a rebuild kit may be needed, or grease the valve o-rings with silicone grease. Caution - use only silicone lubricant when lubricating instrument o-rings. Petroleum products will cause permanent damage to the o-rings. NOTE: in some cases, air leaking from the foot control is due to a hole in the control block diaphragm. Replace the diaphragm(s) in the control block. Try switching the bottle selector valve from one bottle to the other, as it may be clogged and need replacement. Bottle threads are worn and not sealing correctly. Replace bottles annual or sooner if necessary. Water not flowing to handpieces. Check to see if water is not flowing from any handpiece to determine if it is isolated to just one tubing. Ensure that all flow control valves for water have been opened. Check the water on/off toggle located on the foot control to see if it is working. Replace if necessary. Check the water output side of the relay by disconnecting the tubing from the relay to the control block and pressing the foot control. If still no flow, replace water relay valve. The autoholder for the suction handpiece may be locked out. Remove the suction handpiece from teh holder and ensure the lever is pointing down to the floor. Start up capacitor may need replaced. Suction canister will not purge The pick-up tube in the canister is clogged. Remove and clean sediment bowl per operation manual instructions. Peristaltic purge hose tubing is clogged or misaligned in the pump. Try massaging tubing to clear or adjust tubing in the pump. Replace tubing if necessary. Compressed air volume is reduced.
