9 Page 7 of 7 Installation / Maintenance / Operation / User s Manual For Model 6156 Non-Firesafe Ball Valves Applied Standards: Material Standard : As described on the valve body or name plate. Cool Working Pressure : As described on the valve body or name plate. Minimum/Maximum Temperature : As described on the valve body or name plate. Pressure Test : All valves are pressure tested by the manufacturer in accordance with API598 standard. A. Installation 1. Prior to installation, check the valve as well as the connecting parts to make sure they are free from dirt and burrs 2. Check the valve threads and the threads of the connecting parts for compatibility. 3. The ball valves are bi-directional and suitable to be installed for flow in either direction. 4. Use suitable tools for installing the valves. 5. It is not permitted to make any alteration on the valves and the documentation without prior notifying the manufacturer with formal documentation 6. In the cases of butt-weld end and socket-weld end 3-pc ball valves, please remove the center body piece by unscrewing all four bolts before welding. This is to prevent the melting of seats and seals due to high temperature. B. Valve Operation 1. All ball valves of this series are 1/4 turn-operated valve, if the valve lever or handle is turned according to 90 degrees clockwise, the valve will be fully closed. If the valve lever or handle is turned according to 90 degrees counter clockwise, the valve will be fully opened. 2. Note that the valve handle also serves as a ball orifice position indicator. If the valve handle is parallel to the pipe the valve is open, while a perpendicular handle indicates a closed valve. 3. To provide an optimum service life, the valve should be operated only in it s fully open or in it s fully closed position. 4. Extending the lever or handle from the ball valve is to be considered misuse and can cause serious injuries, damages to the valve and installation. 5. Prior to operation, it might be necessary to flush the ball valve, valve cavity and the pipes to remove accumulated dirt and burrs. 6. The valve maximum breakaway torques are available upon request. C. Maintenance 1. Prior to maintenance, flush the ball valves and the pipe lines attached and make sure that no (dangerous) residues are left. Ensure that the installation, together with pressure containing parts, is depressurized and secured. 2. There is a possibility that a dangerous pressurized fluid or gas is trapped in the valve cavity, release this pressure safely by partly opening the ball valve. 3. It is impossible to predict the frequency of the maintenance interval. The maintenance interval is dependant upon several factors, which are not foreseeable by the manufacturer. 4. During the service lifetime of the ball valve, it is normal that periodic adjustment of the stem packing is required. 5. Always advise maintenance personnel when they are maintaining or rebuilding a valve that has been conducting hazardous material that proper eye protection and protective clothing should always be utilized. D. User s Note 1. End-users has the responsibility to check the wall thickness in regular intervals due to wear/tear/corrosion of fluid in order to ensure the wall thickness is not below the minimum safety thickness allowed in this standard. 1 / 1
