1 ST 3000 R300 & R300 with ZS Option Installation Instruction Kit (Part Number , -002, -003, -004) Document Number Form: 34-ST-33-47A Effective: 10/00 Supersedes: 34-ST-33-47, dated 7/99 Summary Enclosed is a new assembly or with ZS (Zero and Span) Option with accessory parts for your ST 3000 R300 pressure transmitter. Use the one of the procedures below to install the assembly. If you have received an EPROM with your with ZS Option, instructions are given in the procedure (Table 2) to replace the EPROM chip on the transmitter, if needed. WARNING Do not access components inside the transmitter with power applied. This equipment contains devices that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge. It is imperative that assemblies containing static-sensitive devices be carried in conductive plastic bags. When adjusting or performing any work on such assemblies, grounded work stations and wrist straps must be used. Tools Needed You will need the following tools to install the smart meter (and EPROM): 1.5mm Allen wrench Small Phillips-head or flat blade screwdriver Extraction tool, AMP # , for 32-pin quad flat pack OR Needle-nosed tweezers. Component Location Refer to Figure 1 for the location of the integrated smart meter in the transmitter electronics housing. Follow the procedure in Table 1 to install the R300 on the ST 3000 transmitter. Table 1 Installation Procedure 1 If you have an SFC or SCT, connect it to the transmitter loop wiring and check the transmitter status. Record any status messages. [STATUS] 2 Turn OFF transmitter power. ATTENTION We recommend that you remove the transmitter from service and move it to a clean area before taking it apart. 3 Loosen end cap lock with the 1.5 mm Allen wrench and unscrew end cap from electronics side of transmitter housing. Note: The electronics side of the transmitter housing is located away from the transmitter ID label attached to the housing. Page 2 of 9 34-ST-33-47A

See figure in step 5. 8 Plug in the flex tape connector to J3 and 2-wire power connector to J1 of the. See figure in step 6. 9 Orient the and mounting bracket assembly as shown in step 5 above and insert back into transmitter housing. Secure with the two mounting screws. 10 Attach smart meter to the mounting bracket by placing meter over mounting bracket and then rotate clockwise to lock the meter to the bracket. ATTENTION Be sure to orient smart meter for proper viewing through end-cap window. You can rotate the meter mounting orientation in 90-degree increments. Make sure that the meter cable wires are away from the threads of the housing so that the cable is not damaged when the end cap is installed. 11 Using the end cap supplied with the smart meter kit, lubricate end-cap O-ring with silicon grease such as Dow Corning #33 or equivalent and then install end cap on transmitter housing. Tighten end cap lock with Allen wrench. 12 If desired, rotate the transmitter housing a maximum of 180 degrees so that smart meter is visible. Page 4 of 9 34-ST-33-47A

5 Table 1 Installation Procedure, continued 13 Return transmitter to service and turn ON power. 14 Check the status of all the indicators on the smart meter LCD display by cycling power to the transmitter. The meter runs a brief self-test whenever power is applied to the transmitter. All the display indicators are lit during the self-test as shown in the figure. with Local Zero and Span VAR SEL. 6 Replacement Procedures Follow the procedure in Table 2 to install the R300 with ZS Option on the ST 3000 transmitter. Table 2 with ZS Option Installation Procedure 1 If you have an SFC or SCT, connect it to the transmitter loop wiring and check the transmitter status and the Firmware version. Record any status messages. [STATUS] Record Firmware version. [SHIFT] [3] 2 Turn OFF transmitter power. Make note of the orientation of the chip in the keyed socket. See figure. EPROM location REV X XXXXXX ASSY XXXXXXXX-XXX W1 W R 6 Check the label on the EPROM or the firmware version obtained in step 1 of this procedure: If the firmware version is 3.5/B.5 or greater you do not need to replace the EPROM on the, go to step 9. If the firmware version is 3.4/B.4 or less you need to replace the EPROM on, go to step 7. 7 Use an extraction tool if available to remove the chip from its socket, otherwise use a small pair of needle-nosed tweezers and gently pry at two corners of the chip to lift and remove the chip from its socket. See figure. EPROM in socket Gently pry at corner Gently pry at corner Socket key 8 Orient replacement EPROM chip so that it corresponds with the keyed corner of the chip socket, (see figure in step 7) and carefully press chip into socket.
