2 TAH CATALOG US UK 44(0) Mixers & Accessories Since 1976, TAH Industries has pioneered the design and manufacture of disposable mixers. We thoroughly understand mixing technology and have built our manufacturing platform to design, mold, and assemble mixing and packaging solutions. We offer a complete line of mixers for adhesive systems. We also produce custom systems. Often these custom packages incorporate standard components, significantly reducing the capital expenditures and unit price for our customers. Geometries TAH offers three mixer geometries: Spiral Mixers, Turbo Mixers (square) and Stata-Tube Mixers. All of our mixers divide and combine material into a homogeneous stream as it passes through a series of elements or stages that are positioned at alternating angles. Our Spiral and Turbo geometries are used for Cartridge and Meter Mix/Dosing applications, and our Stata-Tube geometry is designed for CPI/Water Treatment applications. Read more about how to select mixers for each application at the beginning of their respective sections. Spiral Mixers: Our patented Spiral Mixers use a simple yet time-proven geometry. The elements in these mixers are 180 helical twists alternating in either right- or left-hand rotation. These alternating elements are joined so that their leading and trailing edges are mutually perpendicular. Turbo (Square) Mixers: TAH s newest line of disposable static mixers, the Series 180A and Series 295 Turbo Mixers, use our Turbo (square) geometry. This patented design consists of a series of alternating left- and right-hand elements with intermittent flow inverters which effectively channel the fluids from the walls into the center of the mixer. Stata-Tube Mixers: Our Stata-Tube Mixer geometry is built with of a series of overlapping, semielliptical baffles which divide material into numerous substreams. The unique geometry ensures effective in-line mixing, virtually eliminating density, temperature, and concentration gradients. 3 & IN-LINE MIXERS SERIES 120 INDIVIDUAL MIXING ELEMENTS The Series 120 plastic spiral elements were developed for adhesive and sealant mixing applications. The mixer consists of a series of left- and right-hand spiral elements. TAH s mixers have the patented Apple Core cross section. 4 TAH CATALOG US UK 44(0) SERIES 140 PLASTIC TUBE MIXER This all-plastic assembly is ideal for messy or short pot life adhesives. Its low cost allows disposal of the mixer instead of purging or burning. The housing is transparent, so the operator can inspect the condition of the mixer. With the interior mixing elements molded of Acetal (polymer coated cellulose fiber), it has the toughness and chemical resistance to be completely inert to all common solvents. Maximum Service temperature is 250 F (121 C). For adhesive and sealant mixing applications, optional polypropylene mixing elements are available. Based on test results which showed that mixed foam exits the elements in two streams, TAH extended the tube length after the elements. This empty extension eliminates any material separation. 6 TAH CATALOG US UK 44(0) SERIES 160 PLASTIC SPIRAL BELL MIXER With conventional meter/mix manifolds, the reactive materials meet within the manifold before the mixer. If the materials are allowed to gel, the manifold will plug and must be disassembled. This can be a time-consuming and expensive task. The Series 160 eliminates this problem. The mixing nozzle has an oversized bell inlet. Manifolds and valves separately port the A and B materials directly into the mixer. Cleanup simply involves removing the mixer and wiping the manifold face clean. A metal jacket is recommended if the working pressure inside the mixing nozzle exceeds 150 psi (10 bar). Some competitor mixing nozzles have a smaller inlet bell. TAH offers plastic sleeves which press fit into the standard Series 160 bell to convert our mixers to their size. 7 SERIES 160A PLASTIC SPIRAL BELL MIXER FOR PROTIPS PROTIPS The Series 160A mixing nozzle accepts ProTips, and thus combines the design benefits of the disposable TAH Series 160 static mixer with the advantage of flexibility in adhesive material discharge. These mixers are equipped with the TAH A tip which allows the user to either mix and apply adhesive in a single small bead or, by attaching the TAH ProTip, discharge material in a wide variety of widths. Cleanup simply involves removing the mixer with or without discharge attachment and wiping the manifold face clean. A metal jacket is recommended when the working pressure inside the nozzle exceeds 150 psi (10 bar). 9 SERIES 160AA LOW-PRESSURE AIR-ASSISTED SPRAY MIXER TAH s Series 160AA is a low-pressure air-assisted spray mixer for two-component coatings. This disposable static mixer is designed for our Series 171 Quick Spray LP System and can be used with conventional meter/mix equipment or with TAH s two-component cartridge spray system for smaller jobs. (See Series 171 Quick Spray on page 2-6 for more information.) The reactive coating is mixed within the disposable static mixer. At the mixer outlet, air is introduced which atomizes the liquid stream. By regulating the airflow rate, the degree of atomization can be adjusted. This is effective for high viscosity liquids and abrasive suspensions. And, since the reactive coating is contained completely within the mixer, cleanup time is minimal. SERIES 160AA SPRAY MIXER NO. TAH will soon launch this new mixer for high-pressure spray applications. See our website at for details. TAH introduces the Series 160ST a family of disposable mixers that are ideal for short pot life or viscous adhesives. These mixers incorporate a precision ceramic spray tip in the outlet of the mixer. The spray tip generates a flat spray pattern with a 40 angle. And, rather than cleaning by flushing with solvent, the entire assembly can simply be discarded. The mixer can be used with TAH s Series 400 Autovalve. The standard assembly uses a 24-element mixer which ensures complete blending of the resin and hardener. The rugged Nylon housing has an oversized bell inlet. The downstream outlet is designed to accept the Pro Tip accessories or use the 1/2" NPS male thread to attach extensions or other types of accessories. 11 SERIES 190 PLASTIC SPIRAL BAYONET MIXER Featuring a standard Bayonet connection, the Series 190 mixer style is used on 9mL or 50mL two-component cartridges offered by major adhesive manufacturers. Typical applications include mixing epoxies, urethanes, acrylics, and silicones. The Series 190 has five diameters available with four outlet styles: Slip Luer, Full Bore, H-Tapered, and Stepped. The Slip Luer is our standard offering. The Full Bore ensures maximum flow with minimal back pressure. The H-Tapered outlet is offered where precise placement of the adhesives is required. In order to connect Luer Needles or extensions, it is molded with a new interlocking connection. This also permits the attachment of an optional Luer Lok Adapter (Locking Hub Part No. 160-HUB) which must be ordered separately. The Turbo (square) geometry consists of a series of alternating left- and righthand elements with intermittent flow inverters. The flow inverters effectively channel the fluids from the walls into the center of the mixer. 13 SERIES 442 PLASTIC DYNAMIC MIXER Designed for the Series 442 Dynamic Autovalve System, this mixer is ideal for difficult-to-mix urethanes and epoxies. The unique design combines dynamic mixing with low-cost, disposable mixing chambers. It is ideal for casting and molding applications such as RTM, potting, and encapsulation. The Series 442 can be used with new meter mix systems or retrofitted to improve mixing in an existing system. The A and B components are separately ported through the gun body and manifold and do not combine until they meet inside the disposable mixing chamber. The rotating impeller consists of a string of helical elements which move the fluids back and forth. By adjusting the speed of rotation from 200 to 2000 rpm, high shear and complete mixing are achieved. (For more information see the Series 442 Dynamic Autovalve System on page 2-4 of this catalog.).
