3.0 Pre-Installation Activities Prior to Navigator Installation, check that the customer/contractor has completed the following: Mounting plate and structure are in place and meet the requirements laid out in the Navigator pre-installation package. Pay particular attention to mounting plate height (7.0 ) above bottom of finished ceiling, sway bracing, and ensuring plate is level. If structure is obviously weak or not level DO NOT install the fixture and notify the customer of the issue. Gas riser is in place and all gases are attached and have been certified. Also ensure that the compressed air or nitrogen for the brake system has been piped and the regulator has been installed. Also check to see that the air regulator has been installed with the air flow in the direction of the arrow indicator found on the regulator body. Required ceiling access has been provided. Without proper access, installation cannot be completed. A minimum of 2 x2 is recommended within 2 of the hub. Junction box for power to A.C. outlets and brake box have been installed. Wall boxes and conduit for video system have been installed and are properly located (if required). Open crate(s) containing the Navigator you are about to install. Note if crate(s) has previously been opened (in case items are missing.) Inventory crate(s) to ensure all boom components and hardware are present and not damaged. If anything is missing or damaged notify NUVO at once. NUVO is not responsible for lost items or items damaged by mishandling. See inventory list for Navigator. Check gas cover plates on the service head to see if they match the customer order. Cross-reference to see if the same gasses have been supplied by the facility gas plumbers in the ceiling. Make sure you have a full set of installation drawings. 15 3.2 Inventory List for Navigator Arm Assembly Nuts & Washers Hub Brake Assembly Service Head Brake Box (electrical) Shelves (as ordered) Threaded Rod (6) 4.0 Installation Procedure 4.1 Hub Installation Attach the (6) six lengths of threaded rod to the mounting plate using the hex nuts and flat washers provided. The threaded rod must be secured with a nut and washer on both sides of the plate. The ends of the rods should be 2.5 below the finished ceiling (see fig. 4.1 & 4.2). If rods are any farther down you will not be able to position the ceiling cover properly. Depending on what is located above the plate you may have to cut the rods to get the proper distance below the ceiling. Ensure nuts on threaded rod are as tight as possible since the fixture will be hanging from them Install (2) hex nuts and flat washers on two threaded rods closest to the ceiling access opening. These will be used to mount the brake caliper. Caliper mounting plate will be just above ceiling. If there are any obstructions, i.e. drop ceiling frame, use (2) other adjacent rods Next install one hex nut on each of the threaded rods and run them up to just below the finished ceiling height. Fig A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

Fig Position lift under mounting plate and lay plywood level across forks. (If plywood is level, installation will be easier.) Set hub on plywood ensuring that it is centered between forks and that the hub is resting on the rectangular plate that mounts to the arms Determine where you wish arm to stop and ensure the stop block is in the proper position Using lift raise the hub until the brake disk clears the bottom nuts Slide a washer onto each threaded rod and secure with tape Continue raising hub onto threaded rods paying particular attention to stop location then secure using nuts and washers provided. Before tightening nuts remove tape from washers and ensure that the bottom of the hub mounting ring is 1 5/8 from the bottom of the finished ceiling (see figure 4.1.2) and is level Rotate arm mounting plate to check stop setting. It is critical that the hub is level and that nuts are as tight as possible to prevent the fixture from drifting. NOTE: Stop pin is not always in the same location on the braking disk. A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

4.2 Brake Caliper Installation Place caliper assembly onto brake disc located on top end of the hub (ensure caliper mounting plate is above the disk) and using the 4 nuts and washers installed earlier secure the mounting plate to the threaded rod but just hand tighten Using the feeler gauge set the gap between the brake disk and the upper brake pad to.005 and tighten bolts. Rotate disk from stop to stop and ensure it does not rub on brake pads (see figures 4 and 5) Mount hydraulic reservoir to either the top of the mounting plate or a structural member near the hub, as needed to provide the best access. Make sure that the hydraulic line is clear of the brake disk and is not in contact with any sharp edges and that the top of the reservoir is facing up Mount brake control box in the same manner within 2 of the hub making sure you can access the screws securing the cover and all electrical connections. The remaining brake connections will be made after the service head is installed. Caliper Mounting Plate Attachment Nuts and Washers Caliper Fig A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

Brake Pad Brake Disc Fig Arm Installation Set arm on floor in position to be installed. Do not remove protective wrapping at this time. It will hold the arms steady and prevent damage while installing Locate mounting bolts on top of arm. Carefully remove enough of the covering to allow access to the mounting bolts and the arm end cap (see figure 4.3.1) Remove end cap nearest mounting point Remove the (4) mounting bolts from the arm Place the arm on the lift forks and secure it using straps Install arm onto hub plate using the (4) mounting bolts. Mounting Bolt End Cap Fig A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

4.3.7 Remove the remainder of the protective wrapping Rotate arm and check the stop point. The upper arm should stop pointing to the center of the area where patient procedures will be performed. If the arm is unable to rotate 320 degrees, then place the stop toward the wall that it would contact. If needed, the stop block can be relocated Remove the other (3) end caps Locate the brake tubing in the upper arm. Run tubing through and out the end of the arm. Coil tubing up and set aside Run the lower arm tubing through both arms and out the end of the upper arm (see figure 4.4.3). It is recommended that you mark the brake solenoids as to which arm they control at this time to make the final connections easier Run the solenoids and tubing through the hub. Make sure the tubing has enough slack so it is not strained when arms are rotated. Fig A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

4.4 Service Head Installation Lay service head on floor under the arms so that the port where all the utility lines exit is under the port on the bottom of the lower arm (see figure 4.4.1, 4.4.2) Unwind all cables and hoses and lay them out, making sure there are no twists or kinks and that they are not tangled Feed ONE line at a time through the port on the lower arm and out the end of the arm right next to the port (see figure 4.4.2). Pull the line until all slack between the head and arm is gone Repeat the process with the remaining lines. Start with the most flexible lines first and lay them out straight after pulling. This will make the job much easier. If fiber optic video cable is being used run it last (see figure 4.4.3) Before removing hex bolts, insert a long screw driver horizontally across the bottom of the bearing housing and turn the bearing housing to the stop position Remove (4) hex cap mounting bolts from bearing housing on bottom arm Stand utilities head upright under bearing housing Slowly lift head towards bearing housing while gently pulling on the lines until mounting bolts can be started (see figure 4.4.3). Be extremely careful when pulling lines so they are not damaged Rotate head to ensure it is in the correct position relative to the stop. Head should stop when the shelf side is pointed away from arm Apply a few drops of blue-loctite to each bolt prior to tightening mounting bolts. Port on lower arm Mounting Bolts Fig A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

Fiber Optic Cable Fig Port on lower arm Fig NOTE: Run fiber optic cables last to prevent damage to the cable Next pull all cables and hoses through the lower arm, up through the port into the upper arm and out of the end of the upper arm closest to the port. Remember only run one line at a time. Make sure there is enough slack to keep the lines from binding when arms are rotated Now run all cables and hoses through the upper arm and out the other end. A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

Lastly run lines (including brake tubing if not done previously) up through the center of the hub and coil them neatly in the ceiling. Rotate arms through range of motion and ensure arms move freely and that none of the cables or hoses binds Reinstall the arm end caps Install shelves (if required) and trim onto utilities/equipment head When installing the center shelf for the brake control, make the connection with the locking barrel connector (figure 4.4.4). Carefully insert extra cable into head while installing the shelf. Brake Connector 4.5 Brake System Connection Fig Using figure 4.5 make the final connections for brake system as follows: Neatly coil up excess tubing between hub and solenoids and wire tie. Leave enough slack to allow solenoids to be serviced Wire tie the (3) solenoids together Attach air manifold to the air regulator Connect the air supply tubing between solenoids and manifold Make electrical connections between brake control box and solenoids. Check the connections to make sure they are seated properly Connect control cable from service head to the brake box. A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

Fig After all connections are made, turn on compressed air, set the regulator to psig and check for leaks. Any leaks, no matter how minor, MUST be repaired to avoid damage to the air compressor Set the compressor to maintain 120 psig Test the operation of the brakes after all utilities have been connected. A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/

5.0 Utilities Connections WARNING: Final electrical connections to facility mains power must be completed by a qualified electrician Follow all local building codes when running connections Attach gas lines to the appropriate connectors on the gas riser Pull video cables to corresponding wall box or to MCB (Master Control Box) if video system is being used Request qualified electrician to connect system power line to facility mains power at junction box provided by others. NOTE: Use Teflon tape only on male tapered pipe threads. Do not use on flared, coned, or tube fitting ends. Do not over tighten connections to gasses. 6.0 Post-Installation Checklist Verify that compressed air, medical gases, and electrical power are on. Check above ceiling for air or gas leaks. It is necessary that each connection is leak tested with synthetic bubble solution such as Leak-Tec 372E or an ultrasonic leak detector. Repair as needed. Make sure all brakes are operating and are being controlled by the appropriate button on the control handle (left button = TOP hub, center button = MIDDLE arm, right button = BOTTOM service head). Make sure hub stop is set correctly. Move the service head to several locations around the room and check to make sure there is no drift. Clean all equipment surfaces. Clean up work area and remove all trash. Leave a copy of A2Z00507 User, Installation, and Maintenance Manual with each unit. Go over Installation Checklist with customer or their representative and have it signed. Return the Installation Checklist to the Nuvo Service Department via , fax or mail. A signed checklist must be submitted for each installation to validate the customer warranty. A2Z00507 Rev 00 6/29/
