Introduction Introduction Description The wall terminals are part of the OMEGA ACTIVE system. This system component performs the function of physical access control. Wall terminals are used at locations, where a locking cylinder cannot be used for this purpose. Examples for the use of wall terminals include automatic sliding doors, barrier systems, drive-in controls, rolling and sliding gates, door systems equipped with the CEMO system, etc. The OMEGA ACTIVE system is also suitable for door systems already including a door opener (retrofitting). Also installation in electrical equipment with controlled access (e.g. copying machines) is possible. Wall terminals cyclically send inquiries to scan for the presence of an authorized locking medium within a range of up to four metres (optional, standard up to approx. 1.5 m). If an authorized locking medium is found, the wall terminal opens within 100 ms. The WT-A-II wall terminal is a variant for high-security applications which allows the installation of a discrete reader module at a distance of up to three metres. The reader module is fitted in the unprotected outside area while the control is installed in the interior where it is protected against manipulation. Reader module and control unit are connected by cable. In all other respects, the functionality of the WT-A-II is the same as that of the WT-A-I wall terminal. Another option are the long-range readers WT-A-LR4-I (for interior installation) and WT-A-LR4-O (for outdoor installation, IP 67 case) for reading ranges of up to four metres. Longrange readers only work in connection with a WT-A-I or WT-A- II wall terminal. 12 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Introduction The wall terminals can be operated as stand-alone devices or within a wireless system controlled by the OMEGA software. For operation within a wireless system, the wall terminals have a radio frequency (RF) interface for the permanent communication with locking media and Access Points of the OMEGA ACTIVE series. For stand-alone operation, the wall terminals do not require any additional devices or connections. The wall terminals are not connected to any other devices, either. In RF mode, the wall terminals receive the programmed authorizations via their RF interface and feed event data such as log files of door opening and closing operations back to the server. Thanks to its structure, a wireless system combines a high level of operating convenience with low administrative expense. It also reduces personnel expenses since virtually no time is lost by going to the wall terminals for on-site data maintenance and programming. A wireless system always comprises a PC, the OMEGA software, a number of Access Points for data exchange and at least one wall terminal. An RS 232 interface is provided to upload new software into the wall terminals. While new system software is uploaded via the cable interface, communication over the RF interface is interrupted. The wall terminals signal their status by one red and one green LED and a piezo-electric beeper. The wall terminals can be fitted either directly on in-wall switch boxes or using the supplied fitting frame. The wall terminals may not be fitted directly on metal surfaces because the sending and receiving frequencies of the reader will be detuned by the magnetic properties of the metals. Depending on the metal material, the reading range of the wall terminal may be reduced to as much as zero. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 13
Introduction For fitting on a metal surface, always use the supplied fitting frame. A useful complement is the CP100 programmer and the RF- Stick: The CP100 serves as a handy data communicator between your PC workstation and the OMEGA ACTIVE devices if no wireless communication with the OMEGA ACTIVE devices is possible because no Access Points can be installed. The optional RF-Stick permits the wireless manual programming of your locking devices (locking cylinder, IES fitting, wall terminal). The maximum radio range of the RF- Stick is 10 metres. The RF-Stick is available in three different packages. The RF-Stick is an advancement of the CP 100 programmer (which can still be used). For further information, please refer to the OMEGA ACTIVE system Programming Instructions. The manual is available free of charge at 14 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Introduction Other features of the wall terminals: Active transponder technology Integrated 125 khz reader (only WT-A-I and WT-A-II) Integrated 868 MHz RF transceiver Integrated evaluation unit with memory for: - 2,048 transponder keys with access authorizations events with date and time Reading distance of 30 cm to approximately 150 cm, irrespective of the orientation of the transponder; it is no longer necessary to hold the locking medium directly in front of the wall terminal (applies to OMEGA ACTIVE locking media only) Reading distance of up to approximately 400 cm when using the optional long-range readers WT-A-LR4-O and WT-A-LR4- I (applies to OMEGA ACTIVE locking media only) Programming with optional Master media, RF-Stick or optional CP100 programmer with suitable software Five different optional Master media available to increase the functionality of the cylinder (see page 16 ff.) Online programming via 868 MHz RF network and additional OMEGA software (option) Two separate switching outputs for controlling actuators One input for control signal, e.g. from contact mats, contact switches etc. Two colour LEDs and beeper for status indication and feedback (the long-range readers WT-A-LR4 long-range readers do not have a beeper) OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 15
Introduction Optional Master media Optional Master media can only be used when the wall terminals are in stand-alone operating mode. In RF mode, the use of optional Master media is not possible. Optional Master media allow you to set additional functions manually without requiring additional aids such as a PC or programmer. SYSTEM-MASTER With the SYSTEM-MASTER, you define the allocation to a locking system. The SYSTEM-MASTER grants all authorizations on the highest level. For each locking system, there is one and only one valid SYSTEM-MASTER. With the SYSTEM-MASTER, you can authorize up to ten PROGRAM-MASTERS. In its basic version, a locking system requires one SYSTEM-MASTER and one PROGRAM-MASTER each to program your wall terminals. The SYSTEM-MASTER is also used to authorize the following additional Master media for your wall terminals: TIME-MASTER RELEASE-MASTER BLOCK-MASTER. The optional SYSTEM-MASTER will also be required for the wireless system if you want to transmit firmware updates. 16 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Introduction PROGRAM-MASTER The PROGRAM-MASTER is used to authorize and delete the authorization of your locking media. TIME-MASTER With the TIME-MASTER, you set the opening time of your wall terminals. During the opening time, the wall terminals allow free access. The opening time is the period during which the relay is pulled up. When the access terminal detects a TIME-MASTER, it starts beeping at one-second intervals. The number of beeps determines the opening time. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 17
Introduction RELEASE-MASTER With the RELEASE-MASTER, you can set wall terminals into enable condition. In enable condition, no locking media are read and the wall terminals allow permanent access. The relay of the wall terminal is permanently pulled up. BLOCK-MASTER With the BLOCK-MASTER, you can set your wall terminals permanently into blocked condition. In blocked condition all locking media are rejected and the wall terminals refuse all access. The relay of the wall terminal is permanently dropped. 18 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Introduction RF-INI-MASTER The RF-INI-MASTER is used to switch your wall terminal into RF (radio) mode. In this mode, the wall terminal attempts to establish a connection with the OMEGA software to receive new programming jobs. Also, the stored events at the wall terminal are transmitted. Programming jobs and events are transmitted cyclically. The optional RF-INI-MASTER is required to switch your wall terminals into RF mode. RF-TRACE-MASTER The RF-TRACE-MASTER allows you to check the quality of the radio frequency (RF) link between the OMEGA software and your wall terminal. The RF-TRACE-MASTER triggers the following signals of your wall terminal: Flashing green LED: strong RF link Flashing red LED: faulty RF link Alternately or simultaneously flashing red and green LEDs: weak RF link. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 19
Introduction Programming with OMEGA software You can also control and manage your locking systems via a radio frequency link. This allows a convenient management and programming of the entire locking system. The following components are required for wireless programming (see also next page): State-of-the-art PC (1, 2) with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2013 (XP and Windows Server 2003 are no longer supported). 1 GHz processor, at least 1 GB RAM, at least 1 GB free hard disk memory. Network card (TCP/IP). CD-ROM drive for software installation. One free USB port to use the RF-Stick (optional). An existing Internet connection to use the OMEGA Quicksupport. Monitor with a resolution of pixel. OMEGA ACTIVE Access Points (No. 3, maximum ten locking devices per Access Point). OMEGA Software-Suite. At least one locking device (No. 4). A valid license for the OMEGA Software. The RF-Stick (5) can be used either instead of Access Points (3) or in addition to Access Points. 20 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals

Follow the steps for disassembling the WT-A-II wall terminal on pages For fitting the WT-A-II control module without the fitting frame, you need already installed and prepared in-wall switch boxes. All required cable connections must already be available in the switch boxes. The length of the cable between the control module and the reader module must not exceed 3 metres. Only the supplied cable may be used. Do not extend the cable! The supplied fitting frame is not required in this case. Ensure that the in-wall switch boxes have been installed horizontally. Ensure that all required cables have been guided through the switch boxes without being damaged or squeezed. The mounting holes for the control module and the reader module must always be aligned horizontally. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 59
Fitting the wall terminals Establish all required wire connections as described in the "Connections" chapter on page Power supply 2 External switching devices 3 If applicable, connection to the long-range reader and/or to the serial interface of a PC for firmware updates 4 Reader module 5 Door opening devices 60 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Fitting the wall terminals Fasten the control module and the reader module with two mm universal screws each on their respective inwall switch box. Ensure that the LEDs (1) are at the top when the module is fastened. Push the cover on to the control module and the reader module as shown in the following figures: Insert the cover into the respective recesses. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 61
Fitting the wall terminals Push the covers onto the control module and the reader module, exerting only a slight pressure. This completes the fitting of the WT-A-II wall terminal without the fitting frame. 62 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Fitting the long-range reader Fitting the long-range reader NOTICE The long-range reader may be damaged if not fitted properly. The long-range reader may only be fitted by skilled persons such as skilled electricians or CEStronics partners trained on the product by CEStronics. NOTICE The long-range reader may be damaged by static charges. Do not fit the long-range reader in rooms with built up static charge. Ensure potential equalization when working on the long-range reader to remove any static charge. The long-range reader may only be fitted by skilled persons such as skilled electricians or CEStronics partners trained on the product by CEStronics. NOTICE Malfunction of the wall terminals possible. Switching power supplies can produce disturbances that affect the reading habits of the equipment adversely. Use only the recommended device (see page 77). OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 63
Fitting the long-range reader WARNING In case of malfunctions, it may not be possible to open the door in emergency situations which could result in personal injury or even death. Satisfy yourself that the selected long-range reader is suitable for your door system. Contact the manufacturer of the door system in case of doubt. Do not install the long-range reader in door systems with anti-panic function such as escape doors. The two long-range readers WT-A-LR-4-I for indoor installation and WT-A-LR-4-O for outdoor installation are identical and only differ in the type of protection afforded by the case. The following description of the fitting procedure therefore refers to both types. The long-range readers only work in conjunction with a WT-A-I or WT-A-II wall terminal. As the fitting procedure is the same, the following describes the fitting for the WT-A-I wall terminal as an example. The long-range readers can only be programmed via the WT-A-I or WT-A-II wall terminal. Ensure that the wall terminal is installed in a protected area (max. 15 m distance) Ensure that the wall terminal is accessible. 64 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Fitting the long-range reader The long-range reader is supplied preassembled. Before fitting, the long-range reader must first be disassembled. The following tool is required: Screwdriver with suitable tips / bits for slotted-head screws and recessed head (Phillips) screws To disassemble the long-range reader, proceed as follows: Release the two Phillips screws (1) on the two sides of the WT-A-LR-4-I long-range reader to release the cover. Release the six screws (1) in the lid of the WT-A-LR-4-O long-range reader to release the lid. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 65
Fitting the long-range reader Release the header to separate the connection for the LEDs. This completes the disassembly and you can start with the fitting. For fitting the long-range reader, proceed as follows: The selection of the fasteners depends on the material of the wall (or ceiling, etc.) on which the long-range reader is to be installed. For fitting on mineral walls (stone, concrete, etc.) you require suitable fasteners. On mineral walls, the longrange reader is fastened using plugs and universal screws. For fastening the long-range reader on other materials, purchase suitable fasteners from your specialized dealer for fastening engineering. When using fasteners, observe the manufacturer's fitting instructions. Only use the four oblong mounting holes for fastening the long-range reader. Mark the position of the mounting holes of the long-range reader (see mounting drawing on page 79). Four fastening points are required. Drill four holes. Blow out the drilled holes to remove drilling dust. Insert the four plugs into the drilled holes. 66 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Fitting the long-range reader Fasten the long-range reader at the selected location with four universal screws. Use the oblong holes of the long-range reader to level the case. Ensure that all cables required for the installation are guided through the square recess below the terminal strip. Establish all required wire connections as described in the "Connections" chapter on page LED plug for the cover of the long-range reader 2 RS 232 cable to the wall terminal (max. 15 m) 3 Power supply The RS 232 connection cable (2) may not be longer than 15 m (recommended: JY(ST)-Y2x2x0,6). OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 67
Fitting the long-range reader Plug the header for the LED connections in again. If possible verify the perfect functioning of all electrical connections at this stage. Fit the cover again with the two lateral Phillips screws. For the WT-A-LR-4-O long-range reader, follow the instructions of the case manufacturer. This completes the fitting of the long-range reader. 68 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Operating the wall terminal Operating the wall terminal To open your door system with the wall terminal and the longrange reader, you require a locking medium that is authorized for the wall terminal. Please refer to the enclosed Programming Instructions on how to authorize locking media. Passive locking media (125 khz series) To perform the locking or unlocking operation, hold your authorized locking medium (1) in front of the reader (2) for about one second. The green LED in the wall terminal goes on to signal enable status and the connected door system opens. During the set opening time you can pass through the door. During this opening time, the wall terminal and/or long-range reader does not respond to any other locking media. The WT-A-4-LR-I/O wide range readers cannot read passive locking media. In case of a WT-A-II wall terminal, the locking media are only read at the reader module. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 69
Operating the wall terminal Active locking media (OMEGA ACTIVE series) Move with your authorized locking medium (1) into the reading range. This range is about cm for the wall terminals (2) and up to four metres when the long-range reader (3) is installed. The green LED of the wall terminal or the long-range reader goes on to signal enable status and the connected door system opens. During the set opening time you can pass through the door. During this opening time, the wall terminal and/or long-range reader does not respond to any other locking media. 70 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Operating the wall terminal If you are using a locking medium that is not authorized to enable the wall terminal and/or long- reader, the red LED of the wall terminal or range the long-range reader flashes four times and you hear four successive beeps. In this case, no coupling is established with your connected door system and you do not have access. The stated reading ranges depend on the local building conditions and may vary considerably. CEStronics recommends that you have your building conditions checked by your professional CEStronics partner. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 71
Lost Master or locking medium Lost Master or locking medium NOTICE When a Master medium is lost, the potential finder may manipulate the locking system. If a Master medium has been lost, have the wall terminal initialized only by persons trained on the product by CEStronics or a CEStronics partner. Always keep all Master media at a safe place. Make sure that these are not accessible to unauthorized persons. During an initialization, all authorizations for this wall terminal are deleted. If one of the locking media is lost, please contact a CEStronics partner. 72 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Emergency opening Emergency opening If the power supply is interrupted, your wall terminals and/or the long-range reader can no longer permit access. The same applies in case of a defect in a wall terminal or long-range reader. In this case, you have to bridge the related relay contacts of your wall terminal to open the door system. For further information on the wiring of the relay contacts, please refer to chapter "Connections" as from page 26. CAUTION Danger of injury by improper fitting work. Ensure that the wall terminals are only wired by skilled electricians or CEStronics partners trained on the product. Maintenance Have your wall terminals serviced and their perfect functioning verified every six months by CEStronics or by a CEStronics partner only. Spare Parts The wall terminals does not require any spare parts for you to change. If you need service, please contact your professional CES partner. OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals 73
Trouble-shooting Trouble-shooting Symptom The door cannot be opened. Possible cause and remedy You have used an unauthorized locking medium. Use an authorized locking medium. The power supply is interrupted. Re-establish the power supply. Verify the perfect functioning of the power circuit of your connected door system. The locking medium is out of the reading range of the wall terminal. Reduce the distance to the reader. If the error still cannot be eliminated, contact your CEStronics partner. 74 OMEGA ACTIVE wall terminals
Disposal Disposal Neither the wall terminal nor the long-range reader nor any parts thereof may be discarded with the normal household waste.
