2 REPLACEMENT Page 2 REMOVAL - SIDE/REAR FLAILS ACCESS COVER Remove the access cover from the flail and set aside. Measure the current height adjustment on the screws on either side as illustrated, and write it down for reference later (see Figure 1.) SCREW SCREW HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT Make sure the ground roller is fully supported; unbolt the screw brackets and retaining plates on both sides from the flail, allowing the ground roller, roller brackets, and screws/screw brackets to be removed from the flail (see Figure 1.) Remove the screw bracket and screw assembly from the roller bracket by backing out the screw from the roller bracket (see Figure 1.) REMOVAL - BOOM FLAILS Note the position of the roller brackets on either side of the flail, as well as which mounting hole locations are being used as illustrated, and write it down for reference later (see Figure 2.) RETAINING PLATES Ground Roller Replacement - (Figure 1) Make sure the ground roller is fully supported; unbolt the roller brackets on both sides of the flail, freeing the ground roller and its brackets from the flail (see Figure 2.) REPLACEMENT - ALL FLAILS Install the new bearings into the ground roller with the cap screw hardware. Torque the hardware to 51 ft/lbs (see Figure 3.) 3 REPLACEMENT Page 3 INSTALLATION - SIDE/ REAR FLAILS Assemble the new roller brackets onto the screw bracket and screw assemblies (see Figure 4.) Place the cutting height decals onto the roller brackets 9 down from the top plate. Assemble the roller/screw bracket/screw assemblies on both sides of the flail with the original mounting hardware by securing the screw bracket(s) to the flail head. Use Loctite 262 with primer 7649, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 4.) Once both assemblies have been mounted to the flail, adjust the screw height adjustment until they match the height adjustments noted previously (see Figure 4.) Lift the ground roller up into the slots on the roller brackets as illustrated (see Figure 5.) Place the bearing block onto the ground roller shaft (see Figure 6,) aligning the flat portion of the opening in the block to the flat portion of the bearing shaft illustrated in (Figure 3.) Drivers Side of Flail: on the inside of the flail head with the supplied ft/lbs (see Figure 6.) Secure the ground roller to the bearing block with the bearing block bolt WITH the shoulder, using loctite 243, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 7.) Attach the retaining plates with the original ft/lbs (see Figure 6.) Opposite Drivers Side of Flail: on the outside of the flail head with the supplied hardware, using loctite 262 with primer 7649 on the hardware, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 7.) Secure the ground roller to the bearing block with the bearing block bolt WITHOUT the shoulder, along with a flat washer and lock washer. Use loctite 243, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 7.) 4 REPLACEMENT Page 4 INSTALLATION - SIDE/ REAR FLAILS Attach the retaing plates with the original ft/lbs (see Figure 7.) (OUTSIDE) RETAINING PLATES INSTALLATION - BOOM FLAILS Attach the new roller brackets with their mounting hardware on the flail, making sure to mount the roller brackets and mounting hardware in the same position and hole locations as the old roller brackets were (see Figures 8-9.) Lower the flail back onto the ground roller, allowing the bearing shafts (see Figure 3) to slide back into their slots on the roller brackets (see Figures 8-9.) Place the bearing blocks onto the ground roller shafts (see Figures 8-9,) aligning the flat portion of the opening in the blocks to the flat portion of the bearing shafts illustrated in (Figure 3.) Drivers Side of Flail: on the inside of the flail head with the supplied ft/lbs (see Figure 8.) Secure the ground roller to the bearing block with the bearing block bolt WITH the shoulder using loctite 243, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 8.) Opposite Drivers Side of Flail: on the outside of the flail head with the supplied hardware, using loctite 262 with primer 7649 on the hardware, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 9.) Secure the ground roller to the bearing block with the bearing block bolt WITHOUT the shoulder, along with a flat washer and lock washer. Use loctite 243, and torque the hardware to 75 ft/lbs (see Figure 9.)
