3 EMSSON CONTROL NFORMATON 1-3 a CRANKCASE EMSSON CONTROL SYSTEM The engine is equipped with a PCV syste. low-by gas in the engine is constantly drawn into the crankcase, which is returned to the cobustion chaber through the breather hose, air cleaner and throttle body. 4 1-4 EMSSON CONTROL NFORMATON EXHAUST EMSSON CONTROL SYSTEM (PAR SYSTEM) The exhaust eission control syste is coposed of the PAR syste. The fresh air is drawn into the exhaust port with the PAR solenoid valve and PAR reed valve. The PAR solenoid valve is operated by the ECM, and the fresh air flow is controlled according to the TPS, ECTS, ATS and ZAPS.
5 EMSSON CONTROL NFORMATON 1-5 NOSE EMSSON CONTROL SYSTEM TAMPERNG WTH THE NOSE CONTROL SYSTEM PROHTED : Federal law prohibits the following acts or the causing thereof : 1. The reoval or rendering inoperative by any person, other than for purposes of aintenance, repair or replaceent, of any device or eleent of design incorporated into any new vehicle for the purpose of noise control prior to its sale or delivery to the ultiate purchaser or while it is in use, or 2. The use of the vehicle after such device or eleent of design has been reoved or rendered inoperative by any person. AMONG THOSE ACTS PRESUMED TO CONSTTUTE TAMPERNG ARE THE ACTS LSTED ELOW : Reoving or puncturing the uffler, baffles, header pipes, screen type spark arrester (if equipped) or any other coponent which conducts exhaust gases. Reoving or puncturing the air cleaner case, air cleaner cover, baffles or any other coponent which conducts intake air. Replacing the exhaust syste or uffler with a syste or uffler not arked with the sae odel specific code as the code listed on the Motorcycle Noise Eission Control nforation label. 6 1-6 EMSSON CONTROL NFORMATON PAR (AR SUPPLY) SYSTEM NSPECTON HOSES nspect the hoses for wear or daage. nspect that the hoses are securely connected. PAR REED VALVE Reove the PAR reed valve cover. ( C-7-3-4) nspect the reed valve for the carbon deposit. f the carbon deposit is found in the reed valve, replace the PAR reed valve with a new one nstallation is in the reverse order of reoval.
7 EMSSON CONTROL NFORMATON 1-7 PAR CONTROL SOLENOD VALVE Reove the air cleaner box. (Cr5-16) Reove the PAR control solenoid valve. Check that air flows through the air inlet port to the air outlet port. f air does not flow out, replace the PAR control solenoid valve with a new one. Connect the 12 V battery to the PAR control solenoid valve terinals and check the air flow. f air does not flow out, the solenoid valve is in noral condition. Check the resistance between the terinals of the PAR control solenoid valve. Resistance : 2-24 Q (at 2 C/68 F).: : Multi circuit tester set j J Tester knob indication : Resistance (SZ) Q f the resistance is not within the standard range, replace the PAR control solenoid valve with a new one. Connect the PAR control solenoid valve lead wire coupler securely. nstallation is in the reverse order of reoval.
8 1-8 EMSSON CONTROL NFORMATON EVAPORATVE EMSSON CONTROL SYSTEM NSPECTON (Only for E-33) Reove the seat and frae cover. Lift and support the fuel tank with its prop stay. (C-r- 5-6) HOSES nspect the hoses for wear or daage. Make sure that the hoses are securely connected. EVAP CANSTER nspect the canister for daage to the body. TANK PRESSURE CONTROL VALVE nspect the tank pressure contorol valve body for daage. nspect the tank pressure control valve operation in the following procedure. Reove the tank pressure control valve. When air pressure is applied to the tank pressure control valve fro the side OA, air should flow out through the purge control valve. When air pressure is applied to the tank pressure control valve fro the side, air should not flow through the purge valve. f the tank pressure control valve operates otherwise, it ust be replaced. A WARNNG Gasoline and gasoline vapor is toxic. A sall aount of fuel reains in the tank pressure control valve when checking it. Do not swallow the fuel when blowing the tank pressure control valve. NOTE: When connecting the tank pressure control valve to the hose, the side should face toward the fuel shut-off valve side, and the side OA should face toward the canister side.
