2 Manual Scope The Scope of this manual is to provide guidance only, with respect to the fitting of the Grid-LokTM tooling option to a FUJI NXT pick and Placement module.ithasbeendesignedasageneralguideforacompetentpersonto complete, with minimal downtime of the machine. No liability can be accepted by the publishers for any machine issues or failures, subsequent to a Grid-LokTM installation using this guide. In all cases Ovation Products recommend the use of a properly trained engineer to complete the works. The Installation Manual is intended to be used in conjunction with the Grid-LokTM Technical Manual, which is included with the kit. Please refer to this document for additional details. 3 CHAPTER 1 Tools Required Required Tools Optional Tools 1. Machine access keys (To remove machine panels). 2. Cutters (Required to trim pneumatic pipes and cable ties). 1.Double sided adhesive pad or tape (To locate Operator Interface). CHAPTER 2 Kit Description Kit Description Standard Components Your exact Grid-Lok TM kit contents will be determined by the option purchased. This typically would be with respect to the number of modules and type. All kits are supplied with a number of typical components required to facilitate fitting. Please make sure you have identified all parts required either included with your kit or fitted to the target machine. Controller, Manifold, Operator interface, Pneumatic connection cables, Grid-Lok modules and Power Supply. Controller
4 Tooling Modules (Number Dependant On exact Kit) CHAPTER 2 Kit Description
5 CHAPTER 3 Preparation WARNING COMPRESSED AIR. COMPRESSED AIR SHOULD NEVER IMPINGE UPON THE BODY. PORTS, TUBING, ETC MUST NEVER BE BLOCKED BY HAND. BEFORE ANY PNEUMATIC EQUIPMENT TO A COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY, ALL MOUNTINGS, FITTINGS, PIPEWORK AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS SHOULD BE REMOVED FOR SAFETY. NO PIPEWORK ALTERATIONS OR REMOVAL OF FITTINGS SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED WITH AIR SUPPLIES CONNECTED. Pre- Installation Before installing the equipment the target machine must be powered down and in a safe state. All machine safety procedures must be followed. Please ensure you are familiar with these procedures before undertaking this installation. 1. Close the system software and when it is safe to do so, switch off electrical power to the machine at the mains isolator switch. 2. If possible remove the NXT module from the inline base to gain better access: Machine top cover. Machine rear panel top Machine rear panel bottom 3. Disconnect the air supply from the machine.
6 CHAPTER 4 Locating the Kit Controller Location Fit the Grid-Lok TM Controller as follows: 1. The Grid-Lok TM controller fits at the rear of the machine under the top cover. The photograph below shows the approximate location of the controller located on the top Y beam of the machine. Controller Location
7 CHAPTER 5 Connecting Up Overview The following drawing shows an overview of the Grid-Lok system connections. The actual Grid-Lok modules are not shown for clarity, see the diagram on page 12 for more details. 8 CHAPTER 5 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting Pneumatic Connectors Air Supply to Controller At the rear of the machines Y pillar (see picture), remove the pneumatic cover, Locate the spare 8mm air connection, remove the plug and insert the 8mm piping. 10 CHAPTER 5 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting Pneumatic Connectors Air Supply to Modules Feedthepipeswiththe8mmtubetotablesthroughchamberwhere the 8mm pipe is connected and out through the lower gaps (take care to avoid the belt drive pulleys) and feed to right hand side of machine. 11 CHAPTER 5 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting Pneumatic Connectors Air Supply to Modules Feedthepipesforthefronttablethroughthetubeguardandlocate the tubes so that the modules can be connected. The tubes for the reartablesimplylaythetubesinthebaseofthemachineandlocate thetubessothatthemodulescanbeconnected Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame
12 CHAPTER 5 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting electrical Connections 24 VDC Power Supply From the rear of the control box, connect the power lead, feed the cabletotherearofthemachineandfeedthroughthecutoutinthe box section, down through to the lower rear fan unit. Using connectors, connect the red and the black wire to the same connections on the fan. Insulate to complete connection. Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame
13 CHAPTER 6 Operator Interface Operator Interface The operator interface is located on the rear of the control box. It comprises of 3 toggle switches. - Set/Reset Table 1 To raise and lower the tooling pin (in semiautomatic mode) - Set/Reset Table 2 - To raise and lower the tooling pin (in semiautomatic mode) Auto/Manual Automatic or semi-automatic NOTE the semi-automatic function is overridden when the sensor signal is detected Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame Two power on LED s are also located on the rear of the control box to indicate that each of the control board inside the control box have correct functionality
14 CHAPTER 7 Adjustments and settings Module Flow Controllers Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame Grid-Lok modules are fitted with Flow Adjustors that are factory set to ensure that all modules behave the same Changing this setting is may be required to obtain the required pin momentum when contacting the board. Below is the procedure should it become necessary. 1. Set the flow regulator adjustment to approximately half way. 2. Attach all modules to the manifold adjust manifold flow control to approximately half way. 3. Raise and lower the pins (in manual mode), adjust the individual module flow control so that all modules behave the same. That is, the speed at which the pins raise on all modules is the same. Increase air at manifold flow adjustor as necessary. 4. The adjustment can be fixed if required by using the lock nut provided.
15 CHAPTER 7 Adjustments and settings Adjusting Module Configuration The tooling modules can be configured to suit the product to be printed. The tooling modules can be staggered in the X axis and/or spread evenly in the Y axis to fully support the product to be populated. See figure below for examples NOTE Keep the tooling modules clear of the rails
16 CHAPTER 8 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting Sensors Sensor Location Using the magnetic feet provided, locate the two sensors for table 1 and table 2 on the back of the second (table 1) and forth (table 2) rail with the optics looked down at the table and the adjustment controls facing the right hand side of the machine Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame
17 CHAPTER 8 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting Sensors Sensor Connection Feedthecabledownthelefthandsideofthemachineensuringthat the second and forth rail can move without catching cable. Secure with tie wraps and bases where necessary. Feed cable up to pneumatics chamber securing to existing cables Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame
18 CHAPTER 8 Connecting Up Locating and Fitting Sensors Sensor Connection From the pneumatics chamber feed the cables up the rear box section pillar, secure with tie wraps and bases, feed through the pillar cut out to and connect to the front of the control box to the two large screw connector sockets. These may need to be swapped over later when the sensors are powered up to get the right sensor working with the right table Feed 4mm twin tubes from control box through box frame
19 CHAPTER 8 Sensors Setting the sensor Sensor Setting The sensor has two LED indicators and two adjustors. The operationaladjustermustbesetto L.WiththeNXTtableintheup position tune the sensitivity adjuster so that the orange LED is permanently light and the green LED just illuminates. This is correctly set! Sensor Setting Test Run the machine with everything connected, monitor when the pins come up. If the table 2 pins raise when table one is actuated then the sensor connections on the control box require swapping. The pin should raise approximately 10mm from full table travel. If they raise too early then the pin lock will actuate before the pins reach the board and compliant support will not be achieved
