2 INSTALLATI Operating mode indication Indication is given with two LEDs, one green and one red. Green Red Slow flashing - forced air operation / Low control signal Rapid flashing In operation, the motor is rotating continuously Flashing Rotation alarm Lit constantly - Overload Automatic forced air operation When the control signal drops below a specified value, as shown in the table on page 3, the rotor of the heat exchanger will rotate ca 30 every ten minutes. ( EURZ-02-2 is installed at the factory). The speed detector checks that the rotor of the heat exchanger is rotating when there is a need for heat or cooling recovery. One or two magnets, installed on the rotor, actuate an impulse generator once every revolution. If the drive belt fails and the rotor stops, the pulses will cease and an alarm will be given. The motor will not stop, but will continue to rotate regardless of whether an alarm is given for no rotor rotation. If it is wished for the motor to stop for all types of alarm, including speed detector alarm, the mains voltage can be locked externally when an alarm is received from EMS-VVX. The time to an alarm is 20 minutes at minimum speed and 24 seconds at maximum speed. The speed detector also monitors during forced air operation, although the time to alarm is then longer, ca 8 hours. Connection details for the speed detector transducer can be found in the connection diagram below, see also page 5. Protection of control unit The control unit is equipped with overvoltage and undervoltage monitoring of the mains voltage. At values respectively above and below the mains voltage, the control unit is disconnected and the motor will stop. When the mains voltage returns to its normal value, the motor will start automatically. The control unit has a built-in motor protector which protects against overloading, and there is thus no need to install external motor protection. In the event of overloading the motor is disconnected automatically. To restart the motor the mains voltage must be interrupted for ca 5 seconds. A built-in short-circuit protection protects against short-circuiting between the motor phases and between the phases and earth. Protection External alarm Restart Resetting function after an alarm Main fault, Overvoltage Main fault, Direct Automatic undervoltage Automatic Rotation alarm 20 min min speed The motor 24 sek max speed don t stop ca 8 tim forced air Motor protection Manual, break Manual, break overload Direct and close and close Short-circuiting mains mains voltage voltage Alarm Alarm terminal Alarm output Built-in alarm relay closed in the event of an alarm sensor Magnet Rotor Pulse sensor 3 5 mm Fläkt Woods 3206 GB Specifications are subject to alteration without notice

3 INSTALLATI Control signals The drive system has a built-in linearization function which gives a linear function between the control signal and the energy efficiency of the VVX rotor. Instead of the speed being proportional to the control signal. This offers a good possibility of stable regulation. Operating mode of the drive system for different control signals. Control signal Forced air From min to Max.speed max.speed 0 10V 0 1,5 V 1,5 9,7 V >9,7 V 2 10 V 0 3 V 3 9,7 V >9,7 V 0 20V 0 3 V 3 19,4 V > 19,4 V 4 20 ma 0 6 ma 6 19,4 ma >19,4 ma 0 20 ma 0 3 ma 3 19,4 ma >19,4 ma Priority switch A predetermined speed can be specified by the potentialfree closing of priority inputs When terminal 34 is closed to terminal 35, the speed is controlled by the priority potentiometer, which is located next to the DIP switches in the control unit. The priority switch has higher priority than the control signal. The switch can be used, for example, for cleaning the rotor, defrosting with an external differential pressure regulator and for manual control of the speed. Priority potentiometer DIP switch Cooling recovery When cooling recovery is initiated by differential thermostat EURZ-03-2, as shown in the connection diagram below, see also page 5, the rotor of the heat exchanger is increased to max. speed. Priority switch Cooling recovery (Max. speed) Jump Defrosting GT Defrosting is initiated by the differential pressure regulator, as shown in the connection diagram below, see also page 5, which measures the pressure drop over the exhaust air side of the heat exchanger. The control unit reduces the speed of the heat exchanger rotor to the set speed on the priority switch. Defrosting (Min speed) Jump 31 Diff. thermostat Manual control with 10 kω potentiometer The drive system can be controlled manually with a 10 kω potentiometer, which is connected as shown in the figure. 10 kω Control unit GP Diff. Pressure regulator Parallel operation Details of the parallel operation of several heat exchangers can be provided on request. 4 INSTALLATI Setting of DIP switch 0-10V 10 kω 2-10V 0-20V 4-20mA Control Styrsignal signal Kilrem V-belt Plan rem belt Remtyp Belt type Medurs Clockwise 5 5 Rotationsriktning Direction of rotation 6 In conjunction with shut-down When it is wished to switch off the heat exchanger rotor at night, for example, this can be effected by a relay in series with the control signal which interrupts the signal to control signal terminal 33. In this way no alarm will be given due to mains interruption. The control signal can also be reduced to its lowest value for the same function. In conjunction with shut-down Instead of interrupting the mains voltage it is recommended that the control signal is interrupted as shown in the figure. No alarm will then be given due to a mains fault mA Speed Rotationsvakt detector YES JA 4 Moturs Anticlockwise 6 Maximalt Maximum speed varvtal 100% 7 8 Test switch The control unit is equipped with a test switch located under the cover between terminal s 37 and 41. In the position, the motor soft-starts and runs up to its maximum speed regardless of other signal sources. In the OFF position (downwards), the test change-over switch is disconnected. See also page 1. NO NEJ 4 80% 60% 7 8 Alarm terminal OFF Test switch Choice of max speed The maximum speed can be restricted to 80% (200 rpm) or 60% (150 rpm). This function is intended essentially for use with rotors smaller than ca 1.3 m when it is wished to restrict the max speed and/or when larger belt pulleys are used. Mains connection 1 x V is performed as shown in the connection diagram above and is protected as shown in the table on page 1. A safety cut-out must be installed in the incoming supply before the control unit. When the mains connection is disconnected an alarm will be given for voltage failure. The control unit has a built-in motor protector, and no external motor protector needs to be installed. The control unit is not protected against short-circuits or earth faults in the cable between the control unit and the motor. Such faults lead to immediate breakdown. You should thus always check with an ohmmeter that no short-circuits or earth faults are present before switching on the mains voltage. A safety cut-out must not be installed between the control unit and the motor. To prevent an alarm, when the supply voltage to the control unit fails or is disconnected, the alarm signal must be locked via an external breaking contact. In conjunction Defrosting Potentio- Prio. 6 INSTALLATI Maintenance / Troubleshooting A residual voltage remains for 1 minute after disconnecting the mains voltage. Alarm indications S Fault Reason for fault Green Forced air/ Check EMS-VVX by operating the drive system with long low control the test switch next to terminal 37. The motor lights signal must and run up to its maximum speed. If the motor runs up to test switch the fault is external. Can 0 10V (2 10V) be measured between 33 (+) and 34 (-)? Is + and shifted? Maintenance The motor and control unit are normally maintenancefree. However, you should check regularly that the wiring is fault-free and that all fixing screws are properly tightened. Troubleshooting Check that the installation is correctly executed, e.g. that the cables are properly insulated, that there are no loose cables, etc and that the DIP switches are correctly set. Test- and DIP switches must only be reset after the mains voltage has been disconnected. It is always possible to test the operation of the drive system with the TEST switch under the cover next to terminal 37. The switch has two fixed positions, in the up position the motor will run up to its maximum speed, and in the down position the speed is controlled by the control signal. If the motor fails to run up to its maximum speed or to respond to the control signal, check DIP switches 1 3 and 7 and 8. If the heat exchanger rotates in the wrong direction, DIP switch 6 must be reset. When replacing the control unit, the entire enclosed box with the circuit board must be replaced. Red Rotations VVX the rotor remains stationary. Check the drive flash- alarm belt. The rotor rotates. Check that the rotation ing sensor is correctly installed, see page 2. Measure the voltage between terminal s 33 and 34. When the magnet actuates the sensor, the voltage must be < 1V, and when the magnet does not actuate the sensor, the voltage must be >11V, if this is not the case, replace the rotation sensor. Red Overload/ Motor protector has tripped due to high loading. lights motor Check that the motor cables are correctly conprotector nected, see Chapter Connection. If the drive system operates for longer periods, the loading can be too high, check that the rotor is not seized and that the diameter of the rotor and belt pulley is not excessive. If the fault persists, perform motor measurement, see below. Replace the motor if it is defective. If the motor is faultfree, replace the control unit. No Missing Check that a 230 VAC ±15% supply is connected LED main voltage to the mains terminal. lights Overvoltage Mains voltage exceeds 264 VAC Undervoltage Mains voltage below 196 VAC Short-circuiting Break mains voltage, check motor cable connection in the motor and that the right motor is connected. Interruption in If the fault persists, perform motor measurement, one or two see below. motor phases Replace the motor if it is defective. Interruption of If the motor is fault-free, replace the control unit. all three motor phases Motor measurement Switch off the mains voltage. Disconnect the motor cables from the control unit. Measure the motor resistance between 1 2, 3 4 and 5 6. It must be: EMS-VVX 15M; Ohm EMS-VVX 25M; 5 15 Ohm EMS-VVX 35M; 5 15 Ohm The resistance must not differ by more than 5 Ohm between the phases for 15M and by no more than 2 Ohm for 25M/35M Also check the insulation between 1 3, 1 5, 3 5, 1- earth, 3-earth and 5-earth.
