During installation Read the instruction manual completely before installation and commissioning. The installation must be carried out by qualified personnel. General conditions and regulations for the installation and operation of electrical machinery must be observed. Measures to protect against personal in-jury and damage to the machine must be taken following local rules and regulations The EMX-R drive system is intended for permanent installation. Cables must not be connected or disconnected while the supply voltage is on. Check that the equipment is correctly connected before it is taken into use. See the instructions for mounting/ connection. Faults that arise due to faulty installation or operation are not covered by the guarantee. During operation Measurement in the control unit during operation may only take place at the connection terminalblocks. N.B.! Great care must be taken. The units may not be opened or disassembled while they are operating. Regarding the control logic and operation: During start up and after each time the AHU has been stopped, it is recommended that the exhaust fan operates during 1 minute before the supply fan is started. The priority switch has higher priority than the summer/winter switch (only available on Model E) and the control signal. ALARM OUTPUT The alarm output is a changeover contact, max A 230 VAC. 10-F0 SELECTI OF MAX SPEED Maximal speed can be limited to 80% (200 rpm) or 0% (10 rpm). This function is intended to be used especially for rotors smaller than ca 1.3 m, when it is desirable to maximize the revolution and/or when using larger belt pulleys. 100% 80% 0% PARALLEL CNECTI If several rotary heat exchangers are to be operated in parallel using one control signal or sensor, each heat exchanger rotor must be equipped with its own drive system (motor and control unit). The control signal cable is connected to the first drive system according to the instructions for connection. The other control units are connected by connecting terminals 33 and 3 of the other control units to terminals 33 and 3, respectively, on the first control unit. The DIP switches on the first control unit are set as described in Setting the DIPswitches. DIPswitch 1 and DIPswitch 3 on the other control units are to be set as described in Setting the DIPswitches, while DIP switch 2 is always set as illustrated below: 2 FläktGroup DC_9180GB _R0 Specifications are subject to alteration without notice
4 Installation- and maintenance instruction 0-10V 10 k 2-10V The control units initiate individual alarms. The alarm outputs can be connected in parallel or in series in order to obtain a collective alarm. Model E can also use the analogue output signal in order to control other drive systems. Terminals (-) and (+) are connected to terminals 3(-) and 33(+), respectively. The DIPswitches on all control units are set as described in Setting the DIPswitches. SPEED CTROLLER If a faster and stiffer controller intended for use with stiff belts is used, the DIPswitch should be set to On. If a smoother controller intended for other belts is used, the DIPswitch should be set to OFF. V-belt Styrsignal Other belts Remtyp Kilrem If the stiffer controller is not adequate for smooth oper-ation when Styrsignal Remtyp the max speed is set to 100%, an even stiffer and faster controller 0-10V can be selected by Plan Kilrem setting DIP switches and 7 and setting 10 k rem DIPswitch 8 OFF. separate differential thermostat to the EMX-R, terminals Model E has a built-in differential thermostat. This makes it possible to connect two NTC sensors of resistance 2000 Ohm (EGL11, for instance), one in the incoming air duct and one in the exhaust air duct, directly to the EMX-R, terminals 1-3. ANALOGUE OUTPUTSIGNAL (available on Model E only) The output signal, 0 20 ma or 0 10 V is proportional to the speed of the motor. The maximum value, 20 ma, is always obtained at the selected max speed (0, 80 or 100% of the motor s maximum rpm). The choice between the 0 20 ma output signal and the 0-10 V output signal is made with jumper J1 positioned behind the control terminals V 2-10V Plan Rotationsriktning rem -20mA 0-20mA JA ROTATI MITOR The rotation on the motor is monitored with RotoSens by measurement of the motor load. 5 Installation- and maintenance instruction OPERATING INDICATORS / BUILT-IN FUNCTIS Two LEDs, one red and one green, are used on the Model S for indication, while the Model E has an LED display as follows: OPERATING INDICATI - MODEL S Green Red Slow flashing Purging mode/low control signal. Rapid flashing Operation, the motor rotates continuously. Lit for two seconds Magnet passing rotation sensor. Lit - RotoSens measures the load on the motor during acceleration. Lit or flashing LED indicates alarm; see also the section on troubleshooting. OPERATING INDICATI - MODEL E AUTOMATIC PURGING MODE / HOLDING TORQUE When the control signal is low, i.e. <1.V at 0-10V, the drive system switches to purging mode. In purging mode the motor shaft turns two revolutions every 10 minutes, which is equivalent to around 30 degrees of rotation by the heat exchanger rotor. It may be the case that the rotor rotates although it should be stationary. To prevent involuntary heat recovery a holding torque is activated to keep the rotor still. If a holding torque has been applied and you grasp the drive belt and try to turn the rotor by hand, the torque will progressively increase. PROTECTI OF THE CTROL UNIT The control unit has a built-in motor protection that protects against overloading, and external motor protection is not required. Built-in short circuit protec-tion protects against short circuits between the phases of the motor and between the phases and earth. Purging mode. Low control signal The speed of the rotor in rpm. At the start, the speed is displayed according to the rotor/motor gear ratio of 1:2. After 2 pulses from the rotation monitor, the correct speed of rotation of the rotor is displayed. Range: rpm RotoSens is selected using the DIP-switch () and with no rotation sensor connected Lit for two seconds when the magnet passes the rotation sensor RotoSens measures the load on the motor during acceleration Summer operation/cooling energy recovery No rotation monitor - DIP in the OFF position and jumper An alarm is indicated by the letter F followed by a number. 6 Installation- and maintenance instruction TROUBLESHOOTING Check that the equipment has been correctly installed, i.e. that the cables are properly stripped, no loose cables, etc., and check that the DIPswitches are correctly set. It is always possible to test run the drive system usingthe TEST switch located under the cover next to terminal 37. The switch has two fixed positions, when it is in the up position, the motor accelerates to its maximum speed independent of the control signal, and when it is in the down position the rotation speed is controlled by the control signal. If the motor does no treach maximum speed or respond to the control signal, check DIPswitches 1-3 and 7 and 8. If the heat exchang-er rotates in the wrong direction, change the setting of DIPswitch. MOTOR DIAGNOSIS Disconnect the supply voltage. Disconnect the motor cables from the control unit. Measure the motor resistance between 1 2, 3 and. The values should be: 1M: Ohm; 2M: 1 Ohm; 3M: 1 Ohm The resistance should not differ by more than Ohm between the phases for 1M, and by no more than 2 Ohm for 2M/3M. Also check the insulation resistance between 1 3, 1, 3, 1-earth, 3 earth and earth. Alarm indication S E Fault Fault condition/action required Green LED flashes slowly Red and green LED flash rapidly Red LED flashes rapidly Red LED is lit and green LED flashes rapidly Red LED is lit No LED lit Red and green LED flash slowly and alternately Purging/ low control signal rotation monitor Rotation monitor overload/ motor protection Overload/ motor protection Supply voltage Missing Over voltage Under voltage Check EMX-R by running the drive system with the test switch located next to terminal 37. The motor should accelerate to its maximum speed. If the motor does accelerate to the maximum speed when the test switch is activated, the fault is external. Can 0-10 V (2-10 V) be measured between 33(+) and 3 (-)? Have + and been swapped? The drive system has switched to a softer speed controller because the motor shaft is jerking sharply. Check that the drive belt is not slipping on the pulley. The exchanger rotor is not rotating; check the drive belt. The rotor is rotating; check that the indication is given when the magnet passes the rotation sensor, see the section Operating indicators. If not, replace the rotation sensor. Check that the rotor or belt pulley is not smaller than 30 mm or 3 mm respectively. The motor protection has been activated due to excessive load. After a cool-down period of 10 minutes, the system restarts automatically. If the overload protection trips 3 times within 120 minutes, the drive system will be shut down, see also Overload. (only red LED is lit). The motor protection has been activated due to excessive load. Check that the motor cables are connected correctly, see the section on Connection. Check also that the rotor runs freely and that the diameters of the rotor and pulley are not too large. If the fault remains, carry out motor diagnosis. Replace the motor if it is faulty. If the fault does not lie within the motor, replace thecontrol unit. Check that 230 VAC ±1% is connected to the supply terminal. The supply voltage exceeds 2 V AC The supply voltage is below 19 V AC Red and green LED flash rapidly and alternately Red LED flashes slowly Earth connection in the motor Short circuit in the motor. Disconnect the supply voltage, check the connection of the motor cable and check that the correct motor is connected. If the fault remains, carry out a motor diagnosis. If the motor is faulty, replace it. If the motor is not faulty, replace the control unit Circuit break in the motor FläktGroup DC_9180GB _R0 Specifications are subject to alteration without notice
