This 1967 Camaro owned and driven by Tom DeMarco from Massachusetts was the home for the very first Race Car electrical control; our in dash Pro-Stock ; rocker switch panel. The result was such an advancement in car electrics it was granted the first US Patent for its utilization of high current printed circuitry in automotive power distribution. The differences being, only the switch lettering is illuminated and the front is now equipped with night glow, automatically increasing brightness at night to maintain readability even in total darkness. By reducing light in the car, night vision at the track improves. 7 ROCKER SWITCH CONTROLS Model 3700 & Model 3710 PRO STOCK CONTROLS Overhead and Dash units have the same functions Starter Switch Recessed to prevent accidental striking. It is mounted nearest the driver and next to the ignition switch for ease of operation. 8 L x 2-5/8 H x 3-1/2 D Model 3100 & Model L x 2-1/4 H x 2 D Internal Fuse & Connector Layout Dual Purpose Solenoid 3300 *Both in dash and overhead units hinge out for easy access to fuses. It also contains two spare fuses. Ignition Switch This switch interlocks to the fuel pump controls shutting the pumps off when ignition is killed. The switch is lighted red when on to aid in night racing. Fuel Pump Switches Off in the center position, on in the up position. They are safety interlocked with the ignition switch. The down position is a spring return marked test which bypasses the ignition interlock for the purposes of filling the carburetors, setting pressure regulators and float levels or individually checking pump outputs. Dual switching also allows the use of only one pump in the non-race running conditions saving the batteries. The 2 nd switch can also be used for any other function. Cooling Switch Designed to operate an electric water pump in the low cool position and both an electric water pump and electric radiator fan in the high cool position. Lamps To allow the gauges and/or headlights to be lighted only when needed extending the bulb life. Units have a three-position lamp switch: off-down, middle gauges only and up for gauges and headlights. Units have a #6 main power cable. 8 ROCKER SWITCH CONTROLS Model PS6 Power Sticks Switch Orientation from left to right Starter Switch Ignition Switch Fuel Pump Switch 7-3/8 L x 1-7/8 H x 1-5/8 D Model PS8 Second fuel pump or accessory switch. By selecting one of two different fuse insertion locations this switch will either draw its powers directly from 12V or through the ignition switch. An accessory switch for any function. An accessory switch which also activates the night glow feature in the unit. Although intended for the operation of dash and taillights it may be used for any function. The PS8 has two additional accessory switches. By activating the night glow function, it is possible to read the switch labels and find the switch easily in the dark even when they are turned off. 9-3/8 L x 1-7/8 H x 1-5/8 D Units are furnished with wiring. 9 NITROUS CONTROLS Both Rocker and Flat Touch Model Complete System Model also appears here as well as in the section on Flat Touch Controls to demonstrate its unique ability to operate in a nitrous car. It can be configured with a stand-alone nitrous section. Switches 9, 10, 11 and 12 can either be simple on/off switching same as switches 1-8 or using the programming switches at the right side of the unit can be configured to have a second master arm kill switch for your nitrous system. To accommodate the variety of different systems you can have as many as three purge switches. In dash panel nitrous switches. The Standard ignition switch activates the nitrous controls. The nitrous section is intended to be used in conjunction with the pump and stage relays part number 1401 listed in this section. 10 NITROUS CONTROLS Both Rocker and Flat Touch Relay Model 1402 Time Delay Relay MODEL 1402 This unit features plug-in fuse and 40 AMP relay along with an adjustable.1 sec to 1.0 sec time delay in.1 sec increments. It enables you to minimize engine and driveline damage while improving driveability. EXAMPLES: 3 L x 2 W x 2-3/16 H Time delay a stage activated by a shifter switch until after driveline loading peaks, the clutch locks up and or the tires hook up. Activate 2 stages by the same switch delaying the 2 nd stage to lessen motor and driveline stresses and improve traction. Relay Models through-5 These relays are typically used for pump, purge or stage solenoid operations. These modules feature plug in replaceable fuse and 40 AMP relay and can be operated by switching 12V or ground. Available in one through 5 position units ( Four position module pictured). Each relay position occupies a 2 x 2 inch space and are 2-3/16 H. TECH INFO: When using solid state instead of relay or switch activation note that it causes additional battery drain due to losses in the electronic drivers. This can be anywhere from ½ to 1-1/2 volts in voltage drop to the accessory. This difference in loss becomes greater as the current being delivered increases. 11 ECU-EFI SWITCHING & RELAY CONTROLS Model 4000 ECU This unit has the same functions as the model 4000 mentioned in the Flat Touch controls section including four additional fuse/relay sections which can be controlled by grounding inputs from your ECU/EFI systems. These are available as: 4000 R - ECU - Rollbar mount 4000 D - ECU - Dash mount Model 8000 ECU This unit has the same functions as the model 8000 mentioned in the Flat Touch controls section including four additional fuse/relay sections which can be controlled by grounding inputs from your ECU/EFI systems. This unit has a #6 main power cable and plug in replaceable 40 AMP relays and fuses. It includes custom labeling sheet. RC - 8 ECU 16V (16 Volt battery cars) RC - 8 ECU 12V (12 Volt battery cars) 6 L x 4-7/8 W x 2-1/4 H 1. All inputs switched by ground 2. 4 inputs switched by + voltage 4 by ground Model RC4-ECU This unit has a #6 main power cable and plug in replaceable 40 AMP relays and fuses. It includes custom labeling sheet. RC - 4 ECU All inputs switched by ground 4 L x 4-7/8 W x 2-1/4 H Model 1440 Relay Module 5-1/4 L x 2-3/16 W x 2-1/4 H Now you can select switches with any appearance or current rating and leave the dirty job of reliable high current switching to the ARC relay Module. The unit contains for 40 AMP plug in relays and input fuse connectors for ATO fuses. If your car already possesses the required fusing, the unit can be wired to a point which bypasses its built-in fusing. This unit also features replaceable lugless connectors. Simply connect your switch to ground and the other to this relay board or connect your ECU or EFI grounded outputs to operate this module. 13 RELAY MODULES Model RC12 Model RC8 RC-12 Dimensions 9 L x 4-7/8 W x 2-1/4 H RC-8 Dimensions 6 L x 4-7/8 W x 2-1/4 H These relay controls are set up to operate from 12-volt switch outputs. The purpose is to provide twice the current carrying capability of toggle or rocker switches and to provide the appropriate fusing and plug in replaceable 40 AMP relays all linked to one #6 main power cable input for simplicity of installation. Unit is mounted to an aluminum base plate which mounts with four screws. Units come with 56-word label sheets to cover any function. The labels are printed white on clear and adhere to the top of the relays. Model RC4 RC-4 Dimensions 4 L x 4-7/8 W x 2-1/4 H TECH INFO 12V batteries vs. 16V batteries: When using accessories designed for 12V with a 16V battery, your battery will drain faster than a 12V battery. If an accessory draws 15 AMP at 12V it will draw 25-30% more current on 16V (because it s over driven). This extra 4 AMP draw multiplied by the new battery voltage of 16 results in about 125 additional watts of power being lost from the battery, by heat generated inside the accessory. This heat then turns around and causes premature failure in solenoids, relays, motors and lights. So if at the end of a run it seems your 16V battery is more drained than you expect it to be its because of the wasted energy when driving a 12V accessory. 14 FUSE MODULES Model 1420 Contains positions for 12 ATO fuses or resettable breakers. It also includes hazard and directional flashers and horn relay. It is the smallest product of its type and coupled with its internal wiring track will take approximately 1/2 the space of any other product of this type. It also features replaceable lugless connectors. Fuses are grouped in three pairs of 4 one for "Bat", "Accy" and "Run" key positions. Model 1430 Fusing sub panel with blown fuse alarm system built in. This unit represents the State-of-the-Art in Street Rod electrical systems in an unbelievably small package. Contains positions for 12 ATO fuses or resettable breakers. It also includes hazard and directional flashers and horn relay. It also features replaceable lugless connectors. Fuses are grouped in three pairs of 4 one for "Bat", "Accy", and "Run" key positions. One LED is located adjacent to each fuse position. If any fuse should blow this unit will sound an audible alarm and light the LED at the blown fuse location. The unit is also supplied with an external switch to cancel the audible alarm until the fuse is replaced, and a dash LED which will remain "on" to remind you to fix the problem. TECH INFO: When selecting the wire for the car keep in mind that at any given wire size the finer the stranding the less voltage drop you will experience down the cable. 16 ACCESSORIES & REPLACEMENT PARTS Flush Mount Dash Brackets These brackets allow you to flush mount your ARC flat touch dash units from the rear of the dash. They will require a cutout the size of the face of the unit.
