Temperature sensors for recording the contact temperature directly in the cavity at the surface of the solidified plastic melt. Description The s Types 6192A..., 6193A... and 6194A... are compatible with the mounting system for the common cavity pressure sensors with front diameters of 4 mm, 2,5 mm and 1 mm. The measuring principle is based on the Type K thermocouples whose speed of reaction has been optimized. The lower the mass of a thermocouple, the faster it reacts to temperature changes. This caracteristic has been utilized in that the two thermocouple leads have been fed separately to the sensor front, and welded there to a thermocouple. For this reason, these sensors cannot be machined at the front. Type 6193A... (Ø1 mm) Type 6194A... (Ø2,5 mm) Type 6192A... (Ø4 mm) The thermocouple Type K is used for this application based on the technical advantages such as the corrosion resistance. Technical Data Types 6192A..., 6193A... and 6194A... Application The sensors measure the contact temperature at the surface of the solidified surface layer of the plastic melt in the cavity. This temperature can be used for monitoring and control purposes, for example for adjusting the mold temperature during the process. In addition, this temperature can be used to calculate back to the melt temperature in the molded part. The sensor can not be machined at the front. 4 Installation The sensors are normally fixed in the bore by the mounting nut Type 6457 (for Types 6192A... and 6194A...) As an alternative a spacer sleeve Art. No (for Type 6193A...) can be used. If possible the connector should be installed with the mounting plate (Art. No ) in a secure and covered place of the mold. The sensor front forms part of the cavity wall. It should therefore be installed in such a way that the sensor front is flush with the cavity wall. The sensor front may not be machined. Reponse of a Thermocouple The response of a thermocouple depends on its mass. The smaller the mass, the faster the thermocouple will react to temperature fluctuations. In the case of the Types 6192A..., 6193A... and 6194A..., the individual thermocouple leads are fed separately to the sensor front thereby minimizing its mass. The actual thermocouple is produced by welding the two thermocouple leads to the sensor front. It should be pointed out in this respect, that it is not the mass temperature of the melt which is measured but the contact temperature on the surface of the molded part. The thermocouple Type K is used for this application based on the technical advantages such as the corrosion resistance.
