1 Emirates Lighting Factory (L.L.C.) began in 1995 in response to the industrialization policy of the United Arab Emirates and the growing demands. Today Emirates Lighting Factory is one of the primary luminaire manufacturers in the United Arab Emirates. Emirates Lighting Factory plant encompasses an entire production process that commences with conception and design to fabrication, treatment and protection, and product checking prior to distribution. The latter is pursued with the most state-of-the-art technology & machinery. 87 Aluminium Pole E A P Corrosion resistant fluted poles, made of extruded aluminium high static strength of different heights. Specifications The extruded aluminium poles, with outer diameter 120mm are available with height from 2.7 to 4.5 meters, the static of the poles allow them to with-stand all normal stress connected with the respective luminaires. Paint The aluminium poles are subject to chemical conversion treatment before powder coating.the layer is made by polyester powder coating with highest resistance to sunlight, heat, humidity and atmospheric condition. Construction The aluminium poles are supplied complete with aluminium base plate, (250 x 250mm, thickness = 12mm), with 4 Nos. oblong holes with 30 x 20mm provision for fixing the pole by anchor bolts. Under fault conditions, the power supply is cut by an overload. Safety class II designates luminaires that, apart from functional insulation, have an additional protective insulation. Under fault conditions, no dangerous voltage can reach metal parts which can be touched. Safety class III designates luminaires operating on extra-low safety voltage. They can only be connected to safety transformers in accordance with EN 61558/VDE 0570, EN 61347/VDE 712 or VDE 0100 Part 410. The transformer must be approved for this type of installation. 91 Index of protection Protection indexes for electrical equipment enclosures in accordance with the IEC 529 and EN standards. Protection against electric shocks This relates to the risk of so-called indirect contact as a result of a fault in the insulation between the active parts and the earth of the load. The IEC 536 standard defines the following four classes: Class 0 - Single functional insulation, no possibility of connecting metal earths to a protective conductor (this kind of equipment is prohibited even in non hazardous zones). Class 1 - Single functional insulation, obligatory presence of an earthing terminal for the earths. Class 2 - Double insulation or reinforced insulation identified by two concentric squares (international symbol ) Class 3 - Equipment supplied at a voltage not exceeding the limits of a very low voltage (VLV) and not having any internal or external circuits operating at a voltage above these limits. Moreover, article 13 of the EN standard stipulates, for all equipment for explosive atmosphere, at least one connection element for the protective conductor or the conductor for the equipotential earth connection. NB: classes 2 and 3 do not provide any additional protection with regard to the risk of explosion. 92 Photometry What are photometric units and quantities Luminoous flux: Symbol - F The amount of light emitted in one second by a luminous source. Unit: lumen (lm). Luminoous intensity: Symbol - I The quantity of luminous flux (F) propagated in a given direction, by the solid angle of the direction (Ω).. I = F Unit: Candela (cd). Values on photometric curves are given in candela. Illuminance: Symbol - E The quantity of light falling on a unit area (A) of the element. E = A F Unit: lux (lx)=1 lm/m² Luminance: Symbol - L The quantity of the luminous aspect of an area lit by a lighting source or device, in a given direction. L = I A COS Unit: Candela per square metre (cd/m²). Efficiency: Symbol - µ It is the ratio of light emitted by a luminaire to light emitted by a lamp. µ = F (luminaire) F (light) Luminous efficiency: Qualifies the efficacy of a luminous source. It is a quotient of flux propagated over the power comsumed. Unit: lumens per watt (lm/w). Colour retention index: Symbol - CRI The degree to which the coloured aspect of an object lit by a given light source correspondents to the aspect under a controlled luminous source. The CRI is a number between 0 and 100 (on this scale, 50 it is a mediocre colour retention level, while 80/90 is a good retention level). Unit: Ra Colour temperature: Complex idea of cold and hot light, linked to the chromatic properties of light and to vision of the human eye. Unit: Kelvin (K). Example: 2700K for hot-light incandescent lamps, 8000K for metal halide discharge lamps (a colder type of light). What is a depreciation correction factor? In order to compensate for the decrease In the luminous flux, due to the ageing of the lamps and to the accumulation of dust in the area. The level of lighting (E) should be increased by multiplying it by the depreciation coefficient (d). Example of a value for d: Dust accumulation: low 1.25 medium 1.35 high 1.50 What is a photometric curve The photometric curve shows the luminous intensity distribution of a lighting device. Values are given in candelas (cd). In order to make a comparison between the different types of lighting devices, this curve is drawn for a 1000 lumen flux. Example: for a point placed at 30 from the luminaire s vertical axis, the luminous intensity is 147 cd in the lamps transverse direction and 118 cd in the lamps longitudinal direction. Very low luminance CAT1 Luminaires have the average luminance above the 55 elevation angle less than 200 cd/m², and a maximum patch luminance of 500 cd/m² above the same angle. Very low luminance CAT2 Luminaires have the average luminance above the 65 elevation angle less than 200 cd/m², and a maximum patch luminance of 500 cd/m² above the same angle. Low luminance CAT3 Luminaires have the average luminance above the 75 elevation angle less than 200 cd/m², and a maximum patch luminance of 500 cd/m² above the same angle.
