3 I. Foreword Dear customer, We thank you for the trust you have placed in us by purchasing this machine. When you received this machine, we hope that your dealer gave you instructions for the operation, maintenance and adjustment of the machine. However, this brief introduction to the machine is no substitute for a detailed acquaintance with the different tasks and functions of the machine and the proper way of treating it. These operating instructions are designed so that you are extensively informed of the activities required in each area, from commissioning and operation to the maintenance and care of the machine. The structure of the individual chapters in the text and illustrations corresponds to the sequence of work procedures when you use the machine. Read these operating instructions carefully before you use the machine, and pay special attention to the safety instructions. Important: To avoid accidents and to ensure maximum results, no alterations may be made to the machine without the manufacturer s permission. Similarly, the machine must only be used under the conditions prescribed by Krone. This symbol is intended to draw your attention to safety notes contained in the operating instructions. Follow these notes in order to avoid accidents. This symbol can be found at various places in these operating instructions. It indicates special instruction for using the machine which must be observed during operation. All information, illustrations and technical information in the operating instructions represent the latest status at the date of publication. Material quality is difficult to test visually, therefore special care is required when purchasing cheap offers and imitation parts! The simplest remedy: Purchase only original KRONE parts!

7 II. General. Operation in Accordance with Specifications The round baler is designed solely for normal agricultural use (operation in accordance with specifications). Any use of the machine for other purposes is deemed to be not in accordance with specifications. The manufacturer bears no responsibility for any resulting damage; such use is entirely at the operator s risk. Use in accordance with specifications also includes adherence to the operating, maintenance and service instructions prescribed by the manufacturer. The round baler must only be used, maintained and repaired by personnel who are acquainted with the machine and have been informed of the dangers involved. The applicable accident prevention regulations and all other generally recognized safety, health and road traffic regulations must be adhered to. Any unauthorized alterations to the machine render any liability for damage undertaken by the manufacturer null and void. Basic rule: Before any public roads are used and before the machine is started, check the round baler and the tractor for road-worthiness and operational safety.. Safety and Accident Prevention Regulations. Take note of both the regulations in these operating instructions and also the general safety and accident prevention regulations!. The attached warning and information signs give important advice for safe operation. Observing them will enhance your safety!. When you use public roads, make sure you observe the relevant traffic regulations! 4. Make sure you know all equipment and controls before you begin working with the machine. When you are operating the machine, it s too late! 5. The operator s clothing should be tight fitting. Avoid wearing loose fitting clothes. 6. Keep the machine clean to prevent the danger of fire! 7. Before starting the machine and moving off, check the danger area around the tractor (children!). Good visibility is absolutely essential! 8. Carrying passengers on the implement during work or transport is not permitted. 9. Make sure that the implement is correctly coupled, and that it is only fixed and secured with the prescribed fittings! 0.Make sure that the supporting devices, jacks etc. are in the correct position during assembly and disassembly!.special care is required when equipment is being coupled to the tractor or detached from the tractor!.ballast weights must always be attached in the prescribed way at the designed attachment points!.adhere to the permitted axle loads, total weights and transport dimensions! 4.Check and fit transport equipment e.g. lighting, warning signs and, if required, protective equipment! 5.Operating equipment for remote controls (ropes, chains, rods etc.) must be laid out in such a way that, whatever the working or transport position, it can not inadvertently cause any movements. 6.Prepare equipment for road transport as prescribed by the manufacturer, and lock the equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's regulations! 7.Never leave the driver s position when the tractor is in motion! 8.The speed of travel must always be suited to the environmental conditions! Avoid any sudden turns when travelling uphill, downhill or across a slope! 9.The handling, steering and braking of the tractor is affected by integrated or attached equipment and ballast weights. Make sure that you allow for more flexibility in steering and braking! 0.When turning, remember to take account of the wide load and/or the greater weight of the equipment! 5

8 .Only switch on equipment when all protective devices are fitted and in protection position!.persons are not allowed to enter the working area!.keep clear of the area of rotation and swing of the equipment! 4.Hydraulic controls must only be operated if no persons are in the swing area! 5.Power operated parts (e.g. by hydraulics) contain danger points which can cause injury by bruising and, grazing! 6.Make sure that no personnel go between the tractor and the implement unless the tractor is protected from rolling by the parking brake and/or wheel blocks!. Trailed implements. Secure the implement against unintentional movements.. Do not exceed the maximum load permissible on the -point linkage, drawbar or hitch.. In the case of trailed implements sufficient freedom of motion must be provided at the hitch point. 4. Power take-off shaft operation. Only the P.T.O. shafts prescribed by the manufacturer may be used!. Both male and female guard tubes and cones of all P.T.O. shafts must be fitted and in good condition!. Observe the tube overlap prescribed for P.T.O. shafts in transport and operating position! 4. Before installing or removing the P.T.O. shafts, make sure to turn off the power take-off shaft and the engine, and remove the ignition key! 6. Always ensure correct assembly and guarding of the P.T.O. shaft! 7. Protect the P.T.O. shaft guard from rotating with the shaft by fitting the chains! 8. Before switching on the power take-off shaft, make sure that the p.t.o. speed of the tractor matches the permitted speed of the implement! 9. When using the travel PTO shaft, take into account that the shaft speed is dependent upon the speed of travel and the direction of rotation is reveresed when the tractor reverses. 0.Before switching on the power take-off shaft, make sure that nobody is in the danger area of the implement!.never switch on the power take off shaft when the tractor engine is turned off!.any work on the power take-off shaft may only be carried out when nobody is in the area of the rotating power takeoff shaft or P.T.O. shaft..the power take-off shaft should always be turned off when the angle is too great or the p.t.o. shaft is not required! 4.Danger! Working elements continue to rotate after the power take-off shaft is turned off! Do not approach the machine during this time! Work may only be carried out on the machine when the machine is fully stationary and the rotating parts have been secured by the parking brake. 5.Cleaning, lubrication or adjustment of the P.T.O. shaft or any equipment driven by the power take-off shaft may only be carried out when the P.T.O. shaft and the engine are turned off and the ignition key has been removed! Rotating parts must be secured with the parking brake. 6.Place the detached P.T.O. shaft on the support bracket provided! 7.After removing the P.T.O. shaft, place the protective cover on the stub of the power take-off shaft! 8.Any damage must be repaired immediately before any work is carried out with the attachment! 5. When using P.T.O. shafts with overload or free wheel clutches that are not covered by the guards on the tractor, the overload or free wheel clutches must be fixed on the implement side! 6

9 5. Hydraulic System. The hydraulic system is pressurized!. When connecting hydraulic cylinders and motors, make sure that the hydraulic hoses are correctly coupled!. When connecting hydraulic hoses to the tractor s hydraulic system, make sure that all pressure has been released from the hydraulics of both the tractor and the implement! 4. When there are functional hydraulic connections between the machine and the implement, all coupling sleeves and plugs must be marked to prevent operating errors. If the connections are switched, the functions are reversed (e.g. lifting and lowering) this can cause accidents! 5. Hydraulic hoses must be checked regularly, and they must be replaced if they are damaged or worn. Replacement hoses must conform to the technical requirements of the implement manufacturer! 6. When tracing leaks, suitable aids should be used to prevent injury! 7. Fluid leaking under high pressure (hydraulic oil) can penetrate the skin and cause serious injury! When injury occurs, consult a doctor immediately! Danger of infection! 8. Before carrying out any work on the hydraulic systems, lower the pick-up to the ground, depressurize the system and turn off the engine! 6. Tyres 7. Maintenance. Repair, maintenance and cleaning work and the correction of malfunctions must always be carried out only when the drive is turned off and the engine is at a standstill! Remove the ignition key! Apply the parking brake.. Nuts and bolts must be checked regularly for tightness, and tightened if necessary!. When carrying out maintenance work on the machine in a lifted position, it must always be supported on suitable jacks. 4. When replacing fittings that contain cutting blades, always use suitable tools and gloves! 5. Oil, grease and filters must be correctly disposed of! 6. The power supply must always be disconnected before any work is carried out on the electrical system! 7. If protective devices are subject to wear, they must be checked regularly and replaced in good time! 8. When electric welding is carried out on the tractor and any fitted attachments, the cables must be disconnected from the generator and battery! 9. Replacement parts must conform at least to the technical requirements defined by the manufacturer! The best guarantee is to use only original KRONE parts! 0. Where gases are stored, only refill with nitrogen. Danger of explosion!. When working on the tyres, make sure that the machine is safely supported and can not roll (wheel blocks).. Fitting of wheels and tyres requires sufficient knowledge and correct equipment!. Repair work to tyres and wheels must only be carried out by specialist personnel, and only with the correct equipment! 4. The tyre pressure must be checked regularly! The recommended pressure must be adhered to! 7

10 . Introduction The KRONE Round Baler is equipped with all safety devices (guards). Not all danger areas in this machine can be rendered completely safe as the machine must remain functional. You will find corresponding danger signs on the machine which refer to the remaining danger. We have represented the danger signs in the form of so-called warning symbols. You will find important notes on the positions of these danger signs as well as their meaning and supplementary information below! Familiarise yourself with the meaning of the adjacent warning symbol. The adjacent text and the selected fixing point on the machine give information on the special danger areas in the machine.. Road journeys are only permitted with an empty bale chamber. When operating the baler in fields, the total weight must not exceed 980 kg and the supported load (on the tractor hitch) 450 kg.

16 . Working Methods and Operating Principles of the machine The round baler compresses crops such as hay, straw, grass silage etc. into round bales. On completion of the baling procedure the bale is wrapped with twine, net or synthetic foil, depending on the type of wrapping material selected. Due to their form, the round bales have good storage properties, can be transported simply and can be processed further with ease. The working method can be described as follows: The crop is collected into a swath and taken in by the pick up, transported to the centre by the augers (only for wide pick ups) and enters the bale chamber via the transport roller. In the bale chamber the crop is turned by the rotating roller panel and rolled up. A roller-shaped round bale forms as the crop continues to enter. The bale becomes increasingly compressed as more crop is fed into the round baler. Volume and baling pressure gauges are located on the left and right in the front side of the baler for the corresponding side of the bale. A soon as the set baling pressure on the baling pressure preselection gauge is reached, the wrapping process is started. Depending on the type of equipment, the wrapping process can be started hydraulically or mechanically by hand using an actuating cord. On completion of the wrapping process, the final round bale is transported through the open tail gate out of the round baler and set down. The idle time during use can be reduced when closing the tail gate, due to the special design of the bale ejector as a straw trap. This increases the efficiency of the round baler. 4

17 . Preparing the Round Baler. Special Notes on Safety Always switch off the PTO shaft when undertaking maintenance, care and repair work. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Only use PTO shafts specified by the manufacturer which have an appropriate overload coupling. Only attach and detach the PTO shaft when the drive shaft is switched off, the engine is switched off and the ignition key has been removed! Lay hydraulic hoses, electric cables and synthetic cords such that they are not under tension and do not come into contact with the tractor wheels when driving round corners. Take particular care on and around the tractor and the round baler when attaching and detaching the round baler! The maximum drive speed for the round baler is 540 rpm. Switch off the PTO shaft as soon as the round baler jams.. Adapting the Swinging Drawbar to the Tractor The swinging drawbar on the round baler is designed for the various methods of attaching (above in three-point linkage; below e.g. swinging drawbar). It must be mounted and adjusted in accordance with the different attachment options for the tractor. Before starting work park the round baler on firm ground. Secure from rolling away. Particular care is required when attaching the round baler to the tractor. Make sure that there is nobody in the danger area round the tractor and round baler. After attaching successfully, switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. When mounting anything on the swinging drawbar always observe the following: The teeth in the slots must be in the same position on both sides of the swinging drawbar. First tighten the screw in the round holes. Make sure that the teeth in the slots mesh. Only then should the screws in the slots be tightened. 5

18 Mounting the Swinging Drawbar for Top Attachment Mount the swinging drawbar () in the upper attachment holes in the brackets () on the front cross carrier. The height adjustment of the swinging drawbar is made as described below in this chapter. KR-0-00 Mounting the Swinging Drawbar for Bottom Attachment Rotate the swinging drawbar () through 80 degrees about the lateral axis and mount it in the lower holes in the brackets (). KR-0-00 Height Adjustment of the Swinging Drawbar For optimum crop collection by the pick up, the round baler must be attached horizontally to the tractor, if necessary tilted forwards slightly. A corresponding fine adjustment of the swinging drawbar () can be made at the slots (). This adjustment can be made while the baler is coupled to the tractor. 4 KR Attach the round baler. Leave the machine on the jack stands (4). Loosen the fastening screws () - do not take them out. Bring the machine into the specified position by turning on the jack stands. Tighten up the screws in the order described above. 6

19 . Adapting the PTO Shaft Before working on the PTO shaft, switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor together with the round baler from rolling away. When adapting the PTO shaft there must be nobody between the tractor and the round baler. Attach the round baler to the tractor to adapt the length of the PTO shaft. The PTO shaft is at its shortest when going round tight corners. To measure, take the PTO shaft apart and and slide the two halves () and () on to the machine and the tractor. The exact procedure for adapting the length can be found in the PTO shaft manufacturer's operating instructions. KR Cleaning and Checking the Double Twine Guide Starter Rollers Before working on the starter rollers, switch off the PTO shaft, switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. The starter rollers are wrapped in adhesive tape to protect them from corrosion. Remove the adhesive tape and clean the rollers of any residual adhesive. The pressure rollers () must be able to be rotated easily. Turn the drive roller () to check. If the pressure rollers do not rotate or only rotate with difficulty, refer to the notes in the chapter "Care and Maintenance". KR

20 .5 Adjusting the Height of the Wheel Hubs Park the round baler on firm ground and secure from rolling away with wheel chocks. To jack up the round baler, use a suitable jack and jack stands. Risk of crushing from falling components. a b c KR-0-0 For adaption to different tyre sizes and working conditions, the height of the wheel hubs can be adjusted on both sides of the round baler. To adapt: Take off the tyres (make sure to observe the "Tyres" section in the chapter "Care and Maintenance"). Loosen the fastening screws () in the flange plate (), take it out and re-attach the flange plate in a different position. Tighten up the screws again (tightening moments are listed in the chapter "Care and Maintenance"). Attaching the Round Baler to the Tractor Particular care is required on and around the tractor and the round baler when attaching and detaching the round baler! Observe the tractor's maximum permissable supported and trailer loads. KR Attach the round baler to the attachment device, e.g. to the attachment linkage (), and secure as directed. Attach the actuating cord () to the tractor. Make sure that the actuating cord is not under tension and does not come into contact with the tyres when driving round corners. This also applies for bottom attachment, not shown here. 8

21 Jack Stand Risk of crushing hands and feet when actuating the jack stand. For operation, bring the jack stand () into the top position and twist the support plate tight beneath the front cross carrier. To do this: Take the load off the jack stand (using the crank) Unlock the safety bolt () Bring the jack stand to the top position Let the safety bolt lock into position Crank up the support plate beneath the cross carrier KR Use Safety Chain The safety chain () is used as additional protection of tailed machines, if they should disengage from the adjustable drawbar during the transportation. Attach the safety chain () with the corresponding mounting parts to the adjustable drawbar support of the tractor or another stated hitching point. The tolerance of the safety chain should be just as high that curves can be driven. The attachment of safety chain is not compulsory in all countries. RPN00075 Hydraulic Connections Make hydraulic connections when the engine is switched off. When connecting hydraulic hoses, make sure that there is no pressure in the hydraulics on the tractor and machine side. Lay hydraulic hoses in such a way that they are not under tension and do not come into contact with the tractor wheels when going round corners. Depending on the type of equipment, the round baler may require up to three hydraulic connections to the tractor.. Actuation of the tail gate / pick up. Hydrulic starter (special equipment). Separate pick up actuation (special equipment) Clean plugs on hydraulic hoses () before connecting them up to the particular couplings. Make sure that the hoses are mounted in the bracket (). KR

22 DANGER! Danger of entrainment at P.T.O. shaft. Effect: Risk of injury when drawing in open long hair, jewellery or baggy clothes. The machine may only be operated with an attached guard cup. Universal drive shaft Attaching the guard cup for universal shaft Remove guard cup () out of the twine box. Push guard cup () above the P.T.O. shaft at transfer gearbox () and install it with its hose clamp () at the transfer gearbox () in that way, that the great bore hole is all the way up around the circumference of the guard cup (). RPN000 Only slide the PTO shaft on to the PTO shaft stub when the engine is switched off and the ignition key has been removed. Make sure that the safety device locks into position. Secure the protecting tubes from rotating as well using chains. The PTO shaft () is equipped with an overload coupling. The maximum turning moment which can be transmitted is specified on the slip clutch. The permissable values for the machine are listed in "Technical Data". The overload guard is mounted on the machine side (observe the arrow on the PTO shaft). After mounting successfully, always attach the retaining chains (). KR Every time the PTO shaft is mounted, make sure that the safety device has locked into position. Only use PTO shafts supplied from the works. Electrical Connection Cables KR Lay electrical connection cables in such a way that they are not under tension and do not come into contact with the tractor wheels when going round corners. Before every journey on public highways, fit with a lighting system and check that this is functioning correctly. Make the connection between the lighting system on the round baler and the tractor's electrics using the 7- pole plug coupling (). Lay the cable () such that it cannot come into contact with the wheels. Depending on the type of equipment, connection cables to the electronic final pressure gauge as well as the connection cable for the comfort controls must also be laid to the tractor (see chapter "Special Equipment"). 0

23 Actuating Cord for the Starter Mechanism Lay the actuating cord for the starter mechanism in such a way that it is not under tension and does not come into contact with the tractor wheels when going round corners and thereby activate a wrapping cycle or damage the starter mechanism. The binding process in the round baler is initiated by actuating the starter actuating cord. It must be attached to the tractor in such a way that the driver can reach it easily. The adjacent diagram shows the actuating cord () attached to the actuating lever (). KR Selection of Binding Material The selection of the binding material is of great importance for the trouble-free use of the round baler and for storage of crops. High-quality binding material also guarantees safe handling when transporting the round bales..6. Bale Counter The bale counter () is mounted on the left hand side of the machine behind the rear side guard plate. The bale counter is activated by a bracket () and a chain () every time the tail gate is opened. The bale counter can be set back using the knurled screw (4) KR-0-07

24 .6.4 Road Journeys Driving on public highways is only permitted with the bale chamber empty and closed. The maximum permissable speed is 5 km/h. Carrying passengers on the round baler is forbidden. The road safety of the round baler must be checked before driving on public highways, in particular the lighting, tyres, protective plates must be locked, the pick up must be raised and secured. Before starting, make sure you can see in and around the tractor perfectly and can see the round baler clearly. Before commencing journeys on public highways the roadworthiness of the tractor and the round baler must be checked and corrected if necessary. Minimum Empty Weight The round baler has no brakes. According to the specifications of the German Regulations Authorising the Use of Vehicles for Road Traffic, the tractor requires a minimum empty weight to travel on public highways with the round baler. Data is listed in the section "Technical Data"..6.5 Detaching the Round Baler Park the round baler on firm flat ground only. When parking on loose ground, increase the size of the pads on the jack stand. Secure the round baler from rolling away using wheel chocks before uncoupling the round baler. Care is required when lowering the jack stand - risk of crushing. Release the pressure in the hydraulics system before removing hydraulic hoses. This is particularly important for machines which are driven with comfort controls (see chapter for special equipment: "Comfort Controls"). Remove the PTO shaft only when the engine is switched off. Remove the ignition key.

25 Secure the baler from rolling away accidentally using wheel chocks (). The wheel chocks are located behind the side plates on the round baler. KR-0-08 Bring the jack stand () from the transport position into the jacking position and wind down. (For handling, see chapter.6. - "Jack Stand" section) KR-0-08 Remove the PTO shaft from the PTO shaft stub with the engine switched off and lay it on the PTO shaft plate (). KR-0-08

26 Undo the hydraulic hoses () as well as the actuating cord and the electrical connection cables and place them in the appropriate containers in the twine box. Unlock the three-point linkage or remove the bolt (the same applies for the swinging drawbar) and carefully drive the tractor forward. KR

27 . Working with the Round Baler. Special Notes on Safety Besides the general notes on safety, a number of additional safety notes also apply for working with the round baler. The following always applies for all maintenance, mounting, repair and adjustment work: Bring the machine to a standstill. Switch off the engine. Remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. Keep a sufficiently safe distance from all moving parts in the round baler while it is in operation. This applies to the crop collecting devices in particular. Clear blockages here only when the PTO shaft and engine are switched off. Never stand in the swivel space of the tail gate or under the tail gate when it is not secured. Always secure the tail gate from lowering with the shut-off tap when carrying out maintenance, mounting or repair work on the bale chamber or the tail gate. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Switch off the PTO shaft immediately in dangerous situations and bring the round baler to a standstill. Never run the round baler without an operator in the tractor. The round baler may only be operated with a PTO shaft speed of 540 rpm. Risk of injury from the cutting blades in the double twine binding device! On slopes always place bales in such a way that they cannot be accidentally be set in motion. Once set in motion they can cause severe injury due to their weight and shape.. Basic Settings for the Round Baler for Different Crops Judgement of the working conditions is an essential factor for the basic settings on the round baler, e.g. bale density, height setting of the pick up, baffle plate setting etc. The following criteria should be observed when choosing the basic settings. 28 . Baling Process Drive up to the beginning of a swath with the round baler and observe the points in the following sections. Settings not described in these sections can be found in the "Settings" chapter in these operating instructions..4 Checking the Tail Gate Lock The tail gate is correctly locked when the baling pressure gauge () on the right hand side of the machine indicates a position below "O" when the bale chamber is empty. KKR Lowering the Pick Up The pick up is raised and lowered hydraulically from the tractor using a control valve. Using the control cord (), bring the reversing valve () on the front side of the round baler into position (), pick up operation. The symbol on the sign () must be pointing forwards. KR

29 .6 Forward Speed and PTO Shaft Speed The working speed is dependent on the following factors: Type of crop Moisture content of the crop Swath height Swath width Ground conditions Adapt your forward driving speed to the conditions. Avoid overloading the round baler. Take a speed of 5 - km/h as a guide. Reduce the speed at the start and at the end of each baling process cycle. The drive characteristics with a MINISTOP machine are shown in the adjacent diagram. Note the following: The binding process at the end of a particular baling process must be initiated during crop collection. Crop collection can be started again while the tail gate is still closing. Do not select too high a forward speed at the beginning and the end of crop collection. PTO SHAFT SPEED FW DRIVING SPEED MAX / 0 MAX / 0 baling stop binding bale ejection tail gate open close baling KR Filling the Bale Chamber The bale chamber must be filled uniformly in order to obtain a uniform bale density inside the round bale. The swath width is of great importance here. The optimum width is when the swath is exactly as wide as the bale chamber. Exact forming of round bales can not be guaranteed when the swath is wider. The bale is frayed at the sides and is hard to transport out of the bale chamber. With narrow swaths, uniform filling of the bale chamber can only be achieved by collecting from the left and right sides of the swath alternately. However, do not do this by driving in zig-zags. Drive long stretches up the left and the right sides of the swath, as shown in the adjacent diagram. Changing too frequently and nonuniform filling lead to barrel-shaped bales and nonuniform bale density. The baling pressure achieved (volume filled) can be read off the baling pressure gauges for the left and right hand sides of the machine separately. ~~ 0 m KR-0-07 Barrel-shaped bales can damage the roller panel. Non-uniformly formed and compressed round bales jeopardise proper silage collection. 7

30 .8 Completing the Baling Process 0 KR 0 0 KR-0-04 If the pre-selected baling pressure has been reached (baling pressure gauges () at the level of the preselected indicator ()), the baling process can be completed. Follow the steps listed to do this. Start the binding process, while still collecting more crop, until the binding or wrapping material is gripped by the bale. Stop the tractor and carry out the binding process. On completion of the binding process, open the bale chamber and eject the round bale (see also section "Forward Speed and PTO Speed" in this chapter)..9 Dismounting the Straw Trap The straw trap weighs approx. 40 kg. Beware of possible risks of crushing when carrying out adjustment and mounting work. Under some work conditions, e.g. on slopes or when working with foil, it is advisable to dismount the straw trap (). Dismount screws (). The straw trap can now be moved backwards. KR Baling Other Products The round baler is constructed exclusively for standard use in agricultural work (proper use). If other products are also collected and baled with the round baler in deviation from the proper use, particular care and attention is required. If crops other than agricultural ones are baled, these must also be laid out in swathes and collected automatically by the pick up by driving over the swath. Before you process crops other than those defined as being for proper use, please consult your local KRONE dealer. 8

Drive Chain for Pick-up with Shearing Bolt In order to ensure against overload, the pick-up driving mechanism and the feed auger, which is located behind the protective cover (), are secured with a shearing bolt to the upper chain wheel. 5 extra bolts () are located at the top of the protective cover () M 8 x 5 (Order No ). In case of malfunction, unfasten the lock nuts (). Remove the protective cover (). KR0-7-0 Check the condition of the shearing bolt (4) and replace it if necessary. Replace protective cover (). 4 KR

32 4 Basic Setup and Operation 4.. Pick Up KR 0 The following applies for all maintenance, mounting, repair and adjustment work: Bring the machine to a standstill. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and round baler from rolling away. The adjacent diagram shows the round baler with a wide pick up (special equipment). Handling and settings for this type of equipment are described in chapter. "Wide Pick Up". KR-0-00 KR 0 The round balers can be fitted with pick ups of two different widths. The wide pick up is available to customers as special equipment. The adjacent diagram shows the standard round baler with the "normal" pick up. KR Adjusting the Working Height (low limit) of the Pick Up Risk of crushing when adjusting the pick up working height. Secure the pick up from accidental lowering. The adjustment of the working height of the narrow pick up is made using chains (). Raise the pick up and secure it from accidental lowering. Hang chain link on the hook () according to the desired working height. By hanging the chain on the left or the right hook, the height setting of the pick up is altered by half a chain link. In the basic setup, the distance from the tines to the ground should be approximately 0-0 mm. KR

33 4.. Adjusting the Feeler Wheels Risk of crushing when adjusting the feeler wheels. Secure the pick up from accidental lowering. Set the feeler wheels () on the left and right hand sides of the pick up in such a way that these just touch the ground at the pre-selected pick up working height. To do this undo screws () and () and adjust the height of the feeler wheel in the slot (4). Tighten up the screws again. For very flat crops lying on the ground it may be necessary to have the pick up running on the feeler wheels only, so it adapts to the ground contours better, without hanging it from low limit chains. 4 With particularly short and dry crops it may be that the pick up does not collect the crop optimally even when in a lower working position. The round baler should then be tilted forward by shifting the swinging drawbar (see chapter "Preparing the Round Baler"). KR Adjusting the Height of the Baffle Plate Risk of crushing when adjusting the height of the baffle plate. Secure the pick up from accidental lowering. The height adjustment of the baffle plate () is made with a chain () and carabiner hook (). The setting of the compression rake must be adapted to the prevailing crop conditions (see chapter: "Working with the Round Baler"). KR-0-04

34 4..4 Additional Compression Rake Risk of crushing when mounting and dismounting the compression rake. Secure the pick up from accidental lowering. An additional compression rake () is mounted as standard on the pick up. It rests loose on top of the pick up. The compression rake can be dismounted easily once the pin () has been removed (see chapter "Working with the Round Baler" for use of the additional compression rake). KR Twine Wrapping Mechanism Threading the Twine Attention!- Contamination of tying twine as well as the tying mechanism by oil and grease Effect: Damages to the machine and problems with unrolling of the tying twine Twine, twine tensioner and eyes must not be contaminated with oil or grease. Those parts of the tying device the tying twine or net will rum through, must not be contaminated with oil or grease. Before inserting and threading the twine in the round baler, switch off the PTO shaft and let the machine come to a standstill. Switch off the engine. Remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. KR Up to six rolls of twine () can be stored in the twine box (). The rolls of twine are secured from falling out by a bar (4). The locking mechanism () prevents the rolls of twine from being laterally displaced.

35 There are lugs () located in the twine box () above the rolls of twine, through which the twine must be fed before the individual rolls of twine (I to VI) are tied. 36 From the twine holders the twine () is fed from above through two twine guide lugs () and laid into the twine brake (4). Feed the twine between the spring clamps () and the screws (5). 5 4 KR From the twine brake the twine () is laid around the drive roller () and fed further to the starter for the double binding mechanism. Arrow () indicates the sense of rotation of the drive roller. The drive roller is divided into three steps. Depending on the selected step into which the twine is inserted, the spacing between loops of twine when wrapping the bales is increased or reduced. 37 4.. The Binding Process for Twine Wrapping The round balers can be simultaneously equipped with a net wrapping mechanism as well as the twine wrapping mechanism. Note that only one wrapping mechanism is started at any one time. For this reason only the synthetic cord or the steel cord may be attached to the actuating lever. For twine wrapping in standard models there is mechanical actuation for the starter via a synthetic cord (). The starter is initiated via the actuating lever (). Hold the the actuating cord under tension until the twine is taken by the bale in the bale chamber. KR-0-08 The cutter blade in the net wrapping mechanism must be raised and locked in order to be able to work with twine binding in round balers which are additionally equipped with a net wrapping mechanism. To do this, move the lever () on the right hand side of the machine in direction of the arrow. Rotate the stop () behind the actuating wheel () forwards (see the direction of the arrow). KR

38 During the binding process the twine is fed through twine guides to the right () and left () from the centre outwards and then back in again. The twine is cut off in the end or starting position. The adjacent diagram shows the twine guides with the starter dismounted. KR-0-0 The right and left twine limiters () and (7), with which width of the windings round the bale can be adjusted, are also located on the double twine guide and cutting device, shown dismounted. The twine is fed through twine guides (,6) to knives (4,5) and cut KR Dismounting the Starter Mechanism The starter mechanism on the double binding device may only be dismounted when the PTO shaft is switched off and the machine is at a standstill. Switch off the engine. Remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. 4 KR-0- If a round baler equipped with both twine binding and net wrapping mechanisms is operated for a long period using only the net wrapping device, it is possible to dismount the starter for the double twine binding device and to store it on the right side of the round baler behind the side plates. Remove the three spring pins () to dismount (the lowest spring pin on the lever (4) is not visible). Take off the lever and place in the twine box. Slide the starter mechanism () from the bracket () in the direction of the arrow and remove. Insert the spring pins again. When remounting the starter mechanism, follow the same procedure in the reverse order. 6

39 Before the starter mechanism can be laid behind the side plates, the twine guide plate () must be unscrewed from the starter (). Lay the twine guide plate in the twine box. KR-0-04 In the machine, the bracket () for holding the starter () is located on the right hand side of the machine. Secure the starter with a spring () once inserted in the bracket. KR

40 4. Pre-selecting the Baling Pressure Bring the machine to a standstill before adjusting the baling pressure. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. 0 KR 0 0 The baling pressure on the right and left hand sides of the bale chamber can be infinitely varied at the indicators () on the front side of the round baler. It may not exceed level "". The adjustment is made by loosening the wing nuts used to lock the indicator needles. After completing the adjustment tighten up the wing nuts again. For round balers with comfort controls, the baling pressure is pre-selected at the control and indicator box. In order to gain an insight into the options when setting the baling pressure, please read the relevant sections in the chapter "Special Equipment". KR

41 5 Settings 5. Special Notes on Safety The adjustments listed below may only be carried out when the machine is at a standstill. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the round baler and the tractor from rolling away. On completing the adjustments remount all protective plates and protective devices properly. Follow all further notes on safety in order to prevent injury and accidents. 5. Adjusting the Tail Gate Lock To adjust the tail gate lock, undo the self-locking nuts () on the piston rods () on both sides of the round baler. Turn the piston rod until the the distance between the locking hook (4) and the clamping sleeve () a = 5-7 mm. a 4 KR Adjusting the Baling Pressure Gauge The basic setting for the baling pressure gauge is made with the bale chamber closed. Insert a mounting lever or a screw driver () in the gap between the tail gate and the frame. Push the tail gate back until the locking hook rests () on the clamping sleeve (). KR

42 The adjustment is made at the adjusting screws () on bothe sides of the round baler. The adjusting screws are each connected to the baling pressure gauges respectively via steel cords (). To make the adjustment, undo the self-locking nuts () and twist the adjusting screws. KR Following the default setting, the baling pressure indicators () on the front panel (right / left) of the round baler must be located in or under position "0". KKR Setting the Baling Pressure The baling pressure is set at the gauges () which are llocated on the front of the round baler. Undo the wing nuts () and adjust the indicator in the slot () to the selected value. Tighten up the wing nuts again after making the adjustment. Do not exceed the setting "" when making the adjustment. KKR

43 5.5 Locking Hook Stop In order to guarantee that the tail gate is correctly locked, it is necessary to check the setting of the locking hook stop () for the tail gate lock. When the tail gate is open, the distance (a) between the adjusting screw () and the feeler (4) must be - 5 mm. To make the adjustment, undo the self-locking nuts () and twist the adjusting screw. After successfully making the adjustment tighten up the self-locking nuts again. 4 a KR-0-0 Similarly, the distance a between the locking hook stop () and the limit stop () must also be checked. The distance a should be - 5 mm. The adjustment is made by undoing the nuts () and shifting the limit stop in the slots (4). 44 5.5. Adjusting the Cord for the Display "Bale Chamber Closed and Locked" Via the cord (), the right hand baling pressure gauge indicates whether the tail gate properly closed. If the locking hook is in the deepest position, but the tailgate still closed, the right-hand baling pressure indicator () should be on a level with firgure "". To make the adjustment, undo the nuts () and twist until the baling pressure gauge is at the level of number "". Tighten up the nuts again. KR Double Binding Twine Guide 5 4 KR-0-0 Twine Guide Unintentional actuation of the starter mechanism must be prevented. This applies particularly for round balers with comfort controls. Please read the appropriate sections in the special equipment chapter: "Electronic Comfort Control". Undo the self-locking nuts (5). Set the double lug screw () to such a height that the twine () enters exactly in the middle between the starter roller () and the particular pressure roller (4). Then position the lug screw at an angle such that the twine rests on both sides of the lug. Tighten up the self-locking nuts again. Twine Limiters To be able to set the width of the windings round the bale, the twine limiters () in the slots () on the left and right hand sides of the double binding twine guide are adjustable.to do this, undo the screws () and shift the twine limiter in the slot. 45 Carriers Particular care is required when adjusting the knife stop. The knives are extremely sharp. Risk of injury. The carriers () should have the distances shown in the adjacent diagram a = 8 mm and b = 0 mm. a b KR-0-5 Knife Stop Particular care is required when adjusting the knive stop. The knives are extremely sharp. Risk of injury. The position of the knives () on the double binding twine guide can be altered by twisting the excenter disks ().To do this, undo the nuts (). Bring the excenter disk into the desired position and tighten up the nuts again. Should the twine not be cut simultaneously although the knives are sharp, the later of the two blades to cut the twine should be positioned further outwards using the excenter disk. KR

46 5.7 Twine Brake The twine brake (4) causes the twine () to be fed taughtly. The adjustment is made by twisting the wing nuts (). The force on the twine is increased and reduced using the compression springs (). The setting depends on the twine used and of course the quality of the twine. 4 The twine should always be kept under tension so that proper cutting of the twine is guaranteed. KR Distance from the Roller to the Roller Panel Adjustments to the roller should be carried out with the bale chamber open. Secure the tail gate from accidental lowering. Close the shut-off tap on the left hand hydraulic cylinder on the tail gate. a KR-0-4 The distance between the roller () and the roller panel chain () should be greater than a = 0 mm. If this distance is not reached, the roller must be re-adjusted. To make the adjustment to the distance from the roller to the roller panel on the right and left hand sides of the round baler by the pick up (4), undo and remove the nuts (). Unscrew the screws () and shift or twist the perforated plate () until the optimum distance between the roller and the roller panel has been set. Screw the screws back in and tighten up together with the nuts. 4 KR-0-07 Make sure that the settings on the left and right hand sides of the machine are the same so that the roller does not jam. Setting the roller differently on both sides can lead to damage of the bearings. 44

47 If the distance from the roller () to the roller panel is corrected, the distances from the guide plates () to the roller on the left and right hand sides on the inside of the bale chamber must also be reset. To make this adjustment undo the screws () on the left and right hand sides on the outside of the round baler. Adjust the guide plates on the inside of the bale chamber and tighten up the screws again. KR Distance from the Compression Rake to the Pick Up The distance from the compression rakes to the pick up is set at the screws () on both sides of the round baler. Undo the screws and shift them in the slots (). Tighten up the screws again. KR-0-45

53 7. Tyres Repairs to the tyres may only be carried out by specialists with suitable mounting tools. Bring the round baler to a standstill before commencing mounting. Park the round baler on flat firm ground. Secure from rolling away accidentally using wheel chocks. Check regularly that the wheel nuts are tight and tighten up if necessary. Do not stand in front of the tyres when inflating with compressed air. The tyre can explode if the pressure becomes too high. Risk of injury! Check the air pressure regularly. When undoing and tightening up the wheel nuts, maintain the order shown in the adjacent diagram. Check the wheel nuts 0 operating hours after mounting and tighten up if necessary. 54 7.4 Main Drive Gearbox Change the oil only when the round baler is at a standstill. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. When the tail gate is open, secure it with the shut-off tap. The main drive gearbox () is located in the front cross carrier in the round baler. When changing the oil or checking the oil level, dismount the guard on the rear side of the cross carrier. Bring the round baler into a horizontal position. The type and quantity of gear oil are listed in the section "Technical Data". Oil Check KR Check the gearbox oil after every 500 bales produced. To do this unscrew the checking screw (). The oil must come up to the checking hole. Changing the Oil The first oil change should be made after the first 500 bales produced. Subsequent oil changes every 000 bales produced. Unscrew the checking and draining screws. Collect gear oil (approx. litre) in a suitable container. Screw in the draining screw and fill with oil through the checking hole until it just overflows. Screw in the checking screw. Dispose of used oil properly! 5

55 7.5 Drive Chains Only attempt to oil and tighten the chains when the machine is at a standstill. The drive chains are equipped with guards.always remount the guards after tightening and oiling. Use biodegradable, plant-based oils when oiling the drive chains if possible Roller Panel Drive The roller panel drive is located on the left hand side of the machine. Open the protective flap to be able to reach the drive chain (). The drive chain transmits the turning moment from the drive chain wheel () to the cog (5) on the roller panel. Tightening the Drive Chain 4 5 To tighten the drive chain undo screw (4) slide the chain wheel () in the slot down until the proper chain tension has been reached.tighten up the screw again. Oiling the Drive Chain KR-0- Oil the drive chain with plant-based oils every 4 operating hours Roller Panel Chain The roller panel chain () is kept under tension by an automatic chain tensioner (). Readjustment is therefore not necessary. If the distance between the roller panel chain and the roller falls below 0 mm, the distance must be corrected by shifting the roller. A description of the steps can be found in the chapter "Distance from the Roller to the Roller Panel". KR-0-4 5

Roller Drive The drive for the roller is on the right hand side of the machine. 4 Tightening the Drive Chain A continuous tensile force is exerted by the compression spring () via the reversing lever () and the chain tensioning wheel (4) on the drive chain (5). To adjust the chain tension undo the self-locking nuts on the adjusting screw (). Twist the adjusting screw until the desired chain tension has been reached. Tighten up the selflocking nuts again. 5 KR-0-5 Oiling the Drive Chain Oil the drive chain with plant-based oil every 4 operating hours Pick Up Lower the pick up to the ground. Take care - risk of crushing! 4 5 Drive Chain The drive for the pick up is on the left hand side of the machine. Tightening the Drive Chain Undo the screws () on the left hand side of the pick up. There is another screw located under the mount () for the chain tensioner, which must also be undone. Undo the self-locking nut (5). Tighten the drive chain with the adjusting screw (4). Tighten up the self-locking nut again as well as the other screws undone. KR-0-6 Oiling the Drive Chain Oil the drive chain with planr-based oil every 4 operating hours. 54

57 7.5.5 Double Binding Twine Guide The drive chain () for the double binding twine guide is located in the binding mechanism. It can be accessed from the front by opening the flaps. Tightening the Drive Chain The drive chain has an automatic chain tensioner and does not need to be tightened. KR Adjusting the Straw Trap Adjustments to the straw trap are carried out with the tail gate open. The hydraulic shut-off tap on the left hand tail gate cylinder must be in the locked position. To check, the round baler is put into operation and the distance is measured. Proceed with particular care here! The straw trap () is adjusted to the roller panel (), i.e. the distance from the upper edge of the straw trap to the running roller panel () must be approx. 0-0 mm when the tail gate is opening. The height adjustment is made with the screws () on the underside of the straw trap. KR Hydraulics 7.7. Special Notes on Safety Let the pressure out before carrying out work on the hydraulics system. High-pressure hydraulic fluids emerging can cause severe injury. Seek medical atention immediately in case of injury. Work on the hydraulics system, especially the accumulator, may only be carried out by trained specialists. Fill the accumulator with the gas provided only. 55

Work on the swinging drawbar, especially welding, may only be carried out be trained specialists. a The limiting degree of wear of the sleeve on the tractor hitch () is reached when a = 4 mm. If this value is exceeded the sleeve must be replaced. Clean and grease the sleeve and the tractor hitch every day to minimise wear. KR

60 7.9 Electrics Lighting KR Lay the electric connection cables between the tractor and the round baler in such a way that they do not come into contact with the tyres. The lighting system () on the round baler consists of three unit lamps on the tail gate, as well as round, red rear reflectors () on the rear side and orange cats eyes on the lateral protective plates. The connection to the tractor's electrics is made via a 7-pole standard plug. Additional connection cables are required for the electronic final pressure gauge and comfort controls supplied as special equipment. This is dealt with in greater depth in the relevant chapters. 58

General Clean the the round baler thoroughly internally and externally before putting it away for the winter. If using a highpressure cleaner, do not point the water jet directly at the bearings. Lubricate the lubricating nipple after cleaning. Do NOT wipe away grease emerging from the bearings. The grease ring provides additional protection against moisture. Remove the drive chains and wash in petroleum (do not use any other solvent). Check the degree of wear on the chains and chain wheels at the same time. Oil the clean chains, remount and tighten them up again. Check all moving parts move easily, such as deflection rollers, joints, tension rollers, etc. Where necessary dismount, clean, grease and remount. Replace with new parts if required. Only use original KRONE spare parts. Pull the PTO shaft apart. Lubricate the inner tubes and guard tubes with grease. Lubricate the lubricating nipples on the universal joint and on the bearing rings on the guard tubes. Park the round baler in a dry place well away from artificial fertilisers and stables. Touch up the paintwork, protect bare spots thoroughly with rust-proofer. Jack up the round baler only with a suitable vehicle jack. Make sure that when jacked up, the round baler is in a stable position. Jack up the round baler to prevent damage to the tyres (damage to the tyres can occur when the round baler stands in the same position for a long time). Protect the tyres from the effects of oil, direct sunshine etc. Have the necessary repair work carried out in the time directly after the harvest season. Prepare a list of all spare parts required. By doing this it is easier for your KRONE dealer to process your orders and you can be sure that your machine will be in top condition for the start of the next season. 6

64 0 Putting into Operation again 0. Special Notes on Safety Always bring the machine to a standstill before carrying out maintenance, mounting, repair and adjustment work. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. When the tail gate is open, secure it from lowering with the shut-off tap. Avoid skin contact with oil, grease, cleaning agents and solvents. In case of injuries or burns caused by oil, cleaning agents or solvents, seek medical attention immediately. On completion of maintenance and care work, remount all protective plates and protective devices properly. Follow all further specific notes on safety. 0. General Before putting into operation again, start the binding or wrapping process and turn the round baler manually. Check the operation of the starter mechanisms in the binding or wrapping process. At the same time make sure that the roller panel chain turns round properly as well. Grease all lubrication points and all chains. Wipe away any grease emerging from the lubrication points. Check the oil level in the main drive gearbox, topping it up if required. Check hydraulic hoses and lines for leaks. Replace if required. Check the air pressure in the tyres. Pump up if required. Check that all screws are fastened tight. Tighten up if required. Check all electric connection cables and the lighting. Repair or replace if required. Check all settings on the round baler. Correct settings if required. If the round baler is equipped with comfort controls, the operation of the hydraulic reservoir must be checked. To do this, fill the hydraulic reservoir by opening the tail gate completely. Activate the binding or wrapping process at the control and indicator box. If the binding or wrapping process does not start, have the hydraulics checked by a specialist. 0. Checking the Twine Holder Before putting into operation again or after long idle periods, check the operation of the twine holder with the carriers (). To do this, manually turn the stepped drive roller anti-clockwise, in the direction indicated by the arrow, to turn the twine guide through at least on complete revolution. If this is difficult to turn, open the cover plates () and remove deposits of dirt from the twine holder's path. Oil the drive chains (). KR-0-6

65 0.4 Checking the Starter Rollers The pressure rollers (,4) must be able to be turned easily. Turn the drive roller () to check. If the pressure rollers do not turn with it, or only with difficulty, slide a screw driver between the drive and the pressure rollers and move back and forth gently. The screw () may have to be loosened slightly and the bearings oiled. 4 KR Checking the Blades KR-0- Particular care is required when checking the blades. The blades are extremely sharp. High risk of injury. The blades () must be able to move easliy. Corrosion or congealed grease can impair the mobility of the blades. Clean the blade guides (). Undo the screws (). Move the blades back and forth until they move easily again. Tighten up the screw again such that the blades remain easily mobile. 0.6 Freeing the Overload Coupling on the PTO Shaft After long idle periods the surfaces in the overload coupling () can become stuck to the contacting surfaces. Free the overload coupling before use. To do this, undo the eight screws () on the overload coupling above the cross and turn the PTO shaft manually. Then tighten up the screws above the cross again. The chain is not sufficiently well oiled and shortens, thereby increasing the distance between the roller and the elevator chain. Split the swaths Reduce the forward speed. Drive more slowly at the start of the baling process until the crop collected rolls into the bale chamber. Check the setting of the swinging draw bar. Lower at the front if necessary. Set the compression rake/baffle plate higher. Shift the roller to reduce the distance. Oil the elevator chain. 64

67 Fault Roller panel chain is knocking against the roller. Causes loud noises. Roller panel chain becomes shorter. An electronic final pressure gauge does not work. Possible Cause The roller panel chain has lengthened. Chain dirty and not oiled. Electrical supply from the tractor to the gauge unit has been interrupted. Elimination Move the roller forwards. Clean and oil chain. Check the electrical supply using the circuit diagram. The operating voltage must be V. Caution! Don not cause any short circuits. The right hand baling pressure gauge does not go right down to the lowest position. One baling pressure gauge does not go up to the upper baling pressure area. The binding material comes undone in the middle of barrelshaped bales. Bale is cone-shaped The tail gate lock is not locked properly. Locking hook does not lock into position. Setting of the baling pressure gauge is not correct. Indicator needle does not extend completely. Setting of the baling pressure gauge is not correct. Bale chamber is not uniformly filled. Number of windings is too low. Bale chamber is only filled on one side. Too high a driving speed at the end of the baling process. Twine or wrapping material is torn. Number of windings is not sufficient. Binding / wrapping comes loose. Open the tail gate again and close again quickly. Check the mobility of the struts, blow out dirt form the housing, tighten the extension springs more. Check the setting of the baling pressure gauge, readjust. Clear of dirt by blowing out the housing and / or make the indicator needle mobile. Check the setting of the baling pressure gauge, readjust. Drive back and forth over the swath. Increase the number of windings. Make sure the bale chamber is filled uniformly, and above all drive more slowly at the end of the baling process. Drive more slowly at the end of the baling process. Only use twine or wrapping material of the recommended quality. Set the binding device to a narrower winding spacing or increase the number of windings at the binding mechanism. Bale has differing diameters on the left and right hand sides. Distance between the tensioning pin in the locking lever and the hook too great. Hydraulic cylinder on the tail gate lock is defective. Correct the setting of the locking lever. Replace the cylinder. 65

68 Fault Twine is not fed in at on starting. Twine slips off the edges of the bales. The twine is not cut off at the same time in double twine binding. Twine holder in double binding is not taken. Possible Cause O ring in the starter defective. Starter cord on the hydraulic starter mechanism is too long. On starting the drive rollers do not press against each other. Pressure rollers in the starter are too hard to move. Crop is very dry or crumbly. Cutting edge on the blade is not sharp enough. Twine brake set too lightly. Pressure rollers in the starter are too hard to move. Chain in double binding too loose. Elimination Replace the O ring. Friction wheel without an O ring must not press against the drive shaft. Check the cord or spring setting. Oil the bearings or undo the screws on the pressure rollers slightly then lock again. Set the twine limiter in the binding mechanism inwards. Drive slowly at the end of the baling process and continue to compress before binding without feeding any more crop. Sharpen the blades. Cutter must be free of paint. Readjust blade on excenter. Adjust the twine brake. Oil the bearings or undo the screws on the pressure rollers slightly then lock again. Chain tensioner defective. Wrapping material is not transported at the start process. Wrapping material has the wrong dimensions. Actuating wheel in wrapping mechanism not pressed against the friction wheel or free-wheeling in actuating wheel jams. Rolls of wrapping material are not inserted correctly in the collector mechanism and/or the rolls brake mechanism is not set correctly. The wrapping material is not inserted correctly in the wrapping mechanism. Only use rolls of wrapping material with the recommended dimensions. Check the settings of the drive wheels or make free-wheel mobile. Insert the rolls of wrapping material in accordance with the operating instructions. Adjust the roll brake. Draw the wrapping material out of the wrapping mechanism and insert again. Wrapping material tears off after the start process or immediately after being wrapped. Dirt in front of and on the start rolls can lead to the material slipping through. Blade carrier has come down again immediately after the start process. Roll brake is set too strong. Blade carrier too low. Remove accumulated dirt from the wrapping mechanism after long periods of use. Repeat start process, if necessary check the catch on spring bar can move. Check the setting of the brake mechanism. Check the setting of the brake mechanism. 66

69 Fault Wrapping material is not being cut off cleanly. Possible Cause Catch is in locked position. Blade carrier does not fall all the way down. Elimination Unlock. For hydraulic starter mechanisms: check the setting of the operating cord. Wrapping material comes out forward between the starter rollers directly after being cut. Wrapping material comes out between the starter rollers during the baling process. Wrapping material does not extend to the outer edge of the bale. The PTO shaft speed is kept too low during the wrapping process. Extension springs on the blade carrier have stretched or become torn off. Wrapping material is not correctly braked during the wrapping process. Wrapping material has become snagged on the cutter blades. Let the wrapping process run with a PTO shaft speed of approx. 400 rpm. Correct or replace the extension springs on the blade carrier. Check the setting of the brake mechanism. Check the setting of the cutter blades. Starter rollers in the wrapping mechanism are bent. Check the wrapping mechanism, replace if required. Tail gate does not open correctly. Hydraulic cylinder has a leak. Seal or replace the hydraulic cylinder. The bale does not roll or only rolls slowly out of the bale chamber. Too much crop remains on the straw trap. This crop is deposited with the bale when the bale is ejected. The sides are too full, i.e. the baling pressure is too high. Straw trap is set too low. Make narrower swaths. Reduce the baling pressure. Alter the height setting of the straw trap. 67

70 Special Equipment. Electronic Final Pressure Gauge The final pressure gauge may only be mounted on the tractor when the engine is switched off and the ignition key has been removed. Secure the tractor and the round baler from rolling away. When mounting the electronic final pressure gauge, make sure that the connection cable is not under tension and does not come into contact with the tractor wheels when driving round corners. Disconnect the power supply cable when welding on the tractor and round baler. Too high a voltage can cause damage to the electronic final pressure gauge. Attach the electronic final pressure gauge to the tractor in the driver's field of view using a magnet and connect to the round baler with a cable () to the socket () in the electronic final pressure gauge. Secure the plug with a bar. Attach the connection cable to the round baler with the cable clip (). A second cable provides the power supply ( volt). Plug this into the cigarette lighter. If the round baler is operated without an electronic final pressure gauge, seal the socket with the protective cap (4). 4 0 KR As soon as the bale has reached the pre-selected baling pressure shown on the pre-selected pressure gauge, a horn signal sounds and the two indicator lamps () on the final pressure gauge () are extinguished.the bale can then be wrapped. 71 .. Adjusting the Final Pressure Gauge Do not cause any short circuits when carrying out checking, maintenance or repair work! Operational Check To check its operation, connect the final pressure gauge to the round baler and the power supply ( volt). Both indicator lamps must be illuminated. As soon as the baling pressure gauges () on the left or right hand side of the machine are raised and exceed the pre-selected value on the pre-selection gauges, the corresponding indicator lamps must go out. When both the left and right hand baling pressure gauges have exceeded the preselected value, a horn signal sounds as well. KKR000 Control Sensors The control sensors () on the final pressure gauge are located on the left and right hand sides of the machine behind the front protective plates. KR a If the baling pressure gauge and the pre-selection gauge overlap each other, the control plate must be set at such a height that the upper edge of the control plate is positioned in the middle of the sensor (). The distance a of the sensor from the control plate must be mm. KR

72 Control Plate To adjust the control plate () undo the attaching screws and slide the control plate in the slots (). Tighten up the attaching screws again after making the adjustment. 73 . Round Balers with a Wide Pick Up.. Adjusting the Working Height (low limit) of the Pick Up 4 Risk of crushing when adjusting the working height of the pick up. Secure the pick up from lowering unintentionally. To adjust the working height of the pick up, open the front lateral plate. The adjustment is made on the left and right hand sides of the machine using the bar with holes () which are connected to the hydraulic cylinder to raise the pick up. To adjust the height, raise the pick up remove linch pin () and shift the bars with holes. There is a slot () located on the lower attachment of the hydraulic cylinder to the pick up. In uneven ground conditions the pick up can move upwards. The setting of the bars with holes must be identical on both sides. In the basic position the distance from the tines to the ground should be approx. 0-0 mm. The settings of the compensation springs (4) must also be identical on both sides. KR Adjusting the Feeler Wheels Risk of crushing when adjusting the feeler wheels. Secure the pick up from lowering unintentionally. 4 KR-0-0 Set the feeler wheels () on the left and right hand sides of the pick up in such a way that these just touch the ground at the pre-selected pick up working height. To do this undo screws () and () and adjust the height of the feeler wheel in the slot (4). Tighten up the screws again. For very flat crops lying on the ground it may be necessary to have the pick up running on the feeler wheels only, so it adapts to the ground contours better, without hanging it from low limit chains. With particularly short and dry crops it may be that the pick up does not collect the crop optimally even when in a lower working position. The round baler should then be tilted forward by shifting the swinging drawbar (see chapter "Preparing the Round Baler"). 7

74 .. Drive Chains The pick up drive is on the left hand side of the machine. Tightening the Drive Chain Undo screws (4) on both sides of the pick up (). The pick up is displaced in the slots (5) by twisting the tensioner () supported on the mount () and the drive chain is thereby tightened. Oiling the Drive Chain Oil the drive chain every 4 operating hours with plantbased oil. 4 5 KR Adjusting the Augers Only adjust the auger when the the machine is at a standstill. Switch off the engine. Remove the ignition key. It is important to adjust the augers to the feed rake on the pick up after repair and mounting work. To do this, loosen the drive chain, raise the chain and twist the auger to the proper setting. The adjacent diagram shows the auger drive on the right hand side of the machine. Proceed in the same way on the left hand side of the machine. The auger () must be positioned with its lower edge () parallel to the scrapers () on the pick up. The feed rake (4) must protrude above the scrapers on the pick up by in front approx. 0 mm. This setting applies to the left and right hand augers in the pick up. 4 KR

The roller crop guide () can be adjusted to the different swath sizes. To do this, hinge the chains () correspondingly higher (large swath) or lower (small swath) into the groove of the plate (6). The setting for the chains () must be made on both sides for the same height. The contact pressure of the whole baffle plate on the crop is adjusted at the adjusting screw () (left and right hand sides). The extension spring (4) exerts a force on the baffle plate tines. An adjustment is made at the holes, position "5"...6 Compression Rake An additional compression rake () is mounted on the pick up. It rests loose on top of the pick up. The compression rake can be dismounted easily once the pin () has been removed (its use is described in chapter "Working with the Round Baler"). KR
