4 WARRANTY CONDITIONS.. Warranty Statement: INGERSOLL ARGENTINA S.A. Warrants its products are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal wear and tear conditions on proper installation, application, handling and use for a period of 2 months from date of sale by INGERSOLL ARGENTINA S.A. 2. Warranty is limited to replacement of defective product only. NOTE: It does not cover the cost of freight, removal and replacement of product and forwarding or returning of product. 3. The buyer must notify INGERSOLL ARGENTINA S.A. Immediately of any faulty product or workmanship. 4. Replacements parts will be issued to the customer and charged to their account until the customer returns the faulty parts. These parts whill then be thoroughly investigated and if a warranty claim is approved a subsequent credit will appear on the customers account. Limitations - The warranty shall not apply to the following:. Alterations and repairs not approved by INGERSOLL ARGENTINA S.A. 2. Any product or part, which has been subjeted to misuse, negligence, improper installation or accident. 3. Any routine maintenance items. 4. Normal deterioration of paint, trim and appearance items due to wear and exposure. 5. Normal noise and vibration. 6. Damages, consequential and indirect loss or expenses, failure or corrosion resulting from:. Accident, theft, fire or misuse.. Failure by the buyer or its representatives to perform prope maintenance services.. Use of parts not supplied by INGERSOLL ARGENTINA S.A.. 5 SAFETY. Safety relies heavily upon the actions of the machine operator. The operator of the machine must be trained accordingly in the safe operation of this implement. The operator must be familiar safety requirements and be continually safety conscious. Although INGERSOLL ARGENTINA S.A. has constructed this machine with a high degree of safety in mind, an experienced, careful and safety conscious operator is vital for the machine safe operation. 4

6 MAINTENANCE. General: During and after the first day of operation and periodically thereafter, check the tightness of all U-bolts, Shell Clamps, Bolts and Nuts. Wheels: Check the tightness of wheel nuts after the firts hour of operation and again after ten hours. Thereafter, check bolts/nuts periodically and keep them tight. Refer to Specifications for correct torque. Wheel Bearings: Once every year or every 250 hours of operation, whichever comes first, service and replace if necessary, all wheel bearings on the implement. Caution: Do not wash bearings in kerosene, as this will leave a film, which prevents grase adhering to the rollers, resulting in overheating, and damage to the bearings. Consumable Components. Inspect consumable wear components daily. Replace all worn out genuine Ingersoll Argentina S.A. consumables with Using consumable parts beyond their wear limitations can cause damage to more expensive components. Lubrication: If applicable all chains should be lubricated daily using a spray on chain lube. Using recommended grease (refer to Specifications ). Lubricate the implement in the locations shown in the spare parts pages. DO NOT ATTEMPT LUBRICATION OF IMPLEMENT OR MAKE ADJUSTMENTS WHILE TRACTOR ENGINE IS RUNNING. ALWAYS USE THE SAFTY STANDS PROVIDED. 5

7 SPECIFICATIONS. Lubrication: Grease - lithium based multipurpose grease. Bolt Torque. NOTE: Tighten all U-bolts to 80 % of above torque for equivalent diameter bolts. 6

8 SINGLE DISC SEEDING UNIT. Ingersoll s Single Disc Seeding Unit has been manufactured to face heavy duty seeding and fertilizing tasks. The 8 plain disc at a 7 angle opens a furrow leaving the soil firmly pressed on one side but stirred on the other. A 4 ½ x 5 levelling wheel determines furrow depth while a cast shoe working jointly with the blade places seed and fertilizer in the furrow through independent down comers. A press wheel guarantees accurate seed placement at the bottom of the furrow for improved emergence. A cover wheel system covers the furrow. The Single Disc Seeding Unit is ideal for minimizing trash removal and soil stirring. Highly recommended for clayish, sticky soils and also for salty soils where non-stirring is appreciated. 7

9 - SEEDING SHOE. The cast seeding shoe is hardfaced on the area where wear is the greatest and features two downright, independent anti-blockage tubes for fertilizer and seed. The seed tube includes another smaller tube for fodder seeding. SEEDING SHOE ADJUSTMENT Check tube position. Trim the bracket after tightening it round the plastic tube. Make sure the bracket is not an obstacle for mobile parts such as the main holder Do not apply hardfacing to the machined surface as it prevents proper contact between shoe and coulter. Hardfacing must be as neat as possible so as to avoid warping. Make sure the down tubes are placed just in between the clearence left by the the coulter and the seed press device. Hardfacing on the lower area of the shoe must be very neat so as to ensure good shoe-coulter contact. Check the shoe can swing freely on the fixing bolt. 8

10 SEEDING SHOE OPERATION AND SERVICE. Follow the instructions for proper operation and longer set life. - The shoe (5) must swing freely on the fixing bolt (3). Spring (4) ensures good contact between disc blade (7) and shoe (5). Swinging allows for shoe self-cleaning during seeding. If the soil were too wet, some manual cleaning would be needed. If there s no pressure between the shoe and the disc blade, spring(4) will have to be changed. - The drop bolt (2) must not cancel the spring (4) action since it would prevent self-cleaning and maintenance with eventual damage to the system cm in the lower area should be the minimum clearance between disc and shoe. - Check there is a constant contact between shoe (5) and disc (7). If the instructions were ignored the system may be damaged and the following problems may occur: - Quick and uneven shoe wear (5). - Quick wear of bolt holes in the main unit (). - Quick wear of shoe bolt hole (5). - Breakage of disc holder hub bolts (7). - Breakage of shoe bolts (5). IMPORTANT: - See shoe adjustment outline next page. 9

11 A The shoe (5) must be bolted to the main holder fixing holes (A); right bolting position will depend on soil condition and on disc wear. The shoe can be bolted to the upper hole in order to. - Compensate coulter wear. - Reduce shoe wear with deep seeding practices. - Reduce trash storing between shoe and coulter. The shoe can be bolted to the lower hole in order to: - Seed at 30mm deep or even shallower. - Seed over heavy trash. - Use a wear shoe together with a new coulter. - Get even seeding depths when sowing at high speedlar. Caution: Always ensure a minimum of 5-0mm of disc below the seeding shoe otherwise damage may occur to the main arm of the unit. At this point of disc wear you have the option to move the shoe into the next hole position above or replace the coulter disc. 0

12 A The drop bolt (2) must let the shoe swing freely (2.5cm) so that a self-cleaning action can take place. If it is too tight against the shoe the spring will not work and the set will wear faster or break as blockage will be produce. An advantage of tight fitting is the possiblility of working on damp soils. SHOE ADJUSTMENT The drop bolt must allow for a 2.5 cm swing between coulter and how for selfcleaning. 2 7 Check the spring for strong shoe pressure against the coulter. Check pressure by swinging the sheo on the bolt. 3 Tight the self stopping nut so that it does not prevent the shoe from swinging on its bolt. 4 5

13 2- MAIN HOLDER. It is made up by a strong nodular cast reinforced holder which features heat treated bushings and zerks for a longer component life. Advantages of proper greasing: a) Prevents friction between two metallic surfaces B) Prevents rusting c) Protects bushings and bearings from dust and dirt Proper greasing ensures satisfactory performance. Make sure the zerks are not clogged and in good working condition. Change them if necessary. 2

14 3- DISC HOLDER HUB PRE-LOAD BUSHING HUB. ASSEMBLY: It is assembled with a spacer pre-load bushing and three steel nuts. The hub set wears better and ensures more accurate seeding. It can be re-adjusted when slack appears by taking some of the nuts away. ADJUSTMENT: Use a torquemeter at a pressure of 5 kg. Start by rotating the coulter until the torquemeter indicates adjustment is completed. SET FINAL CHECK: Check the coulter for free rotation by driving it forward by hand. Make sure there is no rubbing between shoe and coulter or between coulter and tyre. Check the axle and the hub for slack. If no slack is noticed, the spacer is in the right position CONICAL BEARING HUB. 15 4- PRESS WHEEL. The hub can be built in the rim for non-demanding tasks while heavy duty work needs bearing and seal wrought hubs. An adjustable spring regulates wheel pressure as needed. Swing the seed pressing device and check for undesirable rubbing against the seeding shoe plastic tubes. IMPORTANT: - Minimum spring pressure is advised for soft dry soils and for preventing mud from sticking on the wheels. - Maximum spring pressure is used for deep seeding at greater depths. 4

16 SEED PRESS SYSTEM ADJUSTMENT The spring must not get in the way of the grease gun. The spring lock must be right in the middle of the slide. The seed pressing device must be flat with the holes at 90. Lubricate the pressing device through the zerk until grease is seen on the sides of the bushing. The zerk must be positioned so that the spring is not in the way. Use the grease gun tip to check for right zerk position. The autostop nut must be adjusted so that 2 or 3 thread screws pass. Swing the seed pressing device in order to check spring action and to make sure the device swings freely. 2.5 mm maximum warp is advisable for the press wheel which is assembled following seed delivery sense. 5

17 5- COVER WHEEL. There are two alternatives to cover the furrow: The first system is made up by a cast cover wheel which presses the soil and covers the furrow on the shoe side. The wheel must be near the seeding line on clayish soils while it should be farther apart if seeding on sandy ground. Number of washers determine cover wheel position. This system does not feature the bearing on the wheel but on the holder which protects the bearings from dirt. The second system is made up by two wheels placed on both sides of the forrow for proper seed covering. These wheels can feature 4 notched disc blades (43-E3) for a stronger covering action. 6

18 A torsion spring with three adjustment points controls the pressure on the covering system as for soil requirements. Wheel angle can be adjusted. The function of the wheels is to bring earth into the furrow (See picture below). 7

19 COVER WHEEL ADJUSTMENT. Lubricate the assembly through the zerk until grease can be seen on the sides of the bushing. The zerk must be position so that the spring is not in the way. Use the grease gun tip to check for right zerk position. 80º-90º The autostop nut must be adjusted so that 2 or 3 thread screws pass. The cap and the nut must be fully glued with thread glue. Check seguer before putting the cap. Check the axle for smooth rotation. IMPORTANT: Strong pressure is needed for proper furrow covering. Make sure the spring fittings are at 80 /90. 8

20 COVER WHEEL ADJUSTMENT. Lubricate the assembly through the zerk until grease can be seen on the sides of the bushing. The zerk must be position so that the spring is not in the way. Use the grease gun tip to check for right zerk position. 80º-90º The autostop nut must be adjusted so that 2 or 3 thread screws pass. Adjust in middle position without glueing. IMPORTANT: Strong pressure is needed for proper furrow covering. Make sure the spring fittings are at 80 /90. 9

21 6- LEVELLING WHEEL. The levelling wheel ar designed to wrought hub and double bearings for heavy work. To increase wheel life under severe working conditions some extra non-ribbed bolts have been added. 20

22 The 3mm opening between the lip of the tyre and the coulter is aimed at reducing tyre wear. It is adjusted by means of steel washers and it allows the wheel to come into slight contact with the disc when the drill is at work. A special tool for displacing a punched plaque in one way or the other is used to adjust levelling wheel position. 2

23 7- COMPRESSION SYSTEM. It is made up by a first quality, highly resistant helicoidal spring which can resist heavy loads during the seeding process. Check the separator tube is well shaped to ensure free circualtion through the cast bushing. After changing a consumable, assembly the system carefully and check nut pressure to prevent them from becoming loose and the tube from getting out of shape. COMPRESSION SYSTEM ADJUSTMENT. Lubricate the system through both zerks until grease can be seen. Tight the nuts at 2kg/cm2. Do not glue nuts. Check the tube is in good shape. Use only one machined washer on each side. Charge Kgs. Arrow mm Tight the nut at 5 kg/cm2 so as not to damage the tube ends. Remove burr to free the way for the tube. Tight nut to its limit taking care not to damage the tube. The tube must pass easily through the cast bushing. If an obstacle is met the system will not work and the tube, the bolts and the clamps will break. 22

24 FIELD ADJUSTMENT. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER ADJUSTMENT: Adjust seeding unit thoroughly. - Adjust seeding depth. Reduce pressure on the cover wheels and on the press wheel. Use the handle to adjust seeding depth on the punched plaque going up or down one hole at a time. When you get to the desired depth adjust unit spring compression to prevent the wheel from leaving a deep track on the ground or the body from being lifted. Depth must be checked with the drill travelling at working speed. The seeding unit MUST NEITHER work over the ground NOR press it so hard as to leave a deep track. 2- Adjust press wheel pressure until there is good contact between seed- furrow bottom. 3- Adjust cover wheels until getting the desired seed coverage. In order to bring earth into the furrow adjust the wheels and exert torsion on the spring. Reduced stirring is achieved by assembling the notched devices on the inner side. Replace them when working on high stalk trash. 4- Adjust the remaining units the same way. 5- Try the drill at seeding speed in order to check general performance. You may need to adjust the cycle of the cylinder commanding the seeding units. 23
