1 ABANAKI Oil Viper Tube Skimmer Installation Instructions GEAR REDUCER MOTOR HINGED COVER 3/4" O.D. TUBING MOUNTING BASE Your Abanaki Oil Viper Tube Skimmer has been manufactured and packaged to rigorous standards of design and service. Proper installation and maintenance of the unit is essential for efficient and long lasting use. We have tried to make these instructions as clear as possible. 2 Oil Viper Tube Skimmer Installation and Maintenance Instructions Setup: 1. Mount the Tube Skimmer using the available holes in the mounting base so that the tubing will be positioned to drop into the tank. 2. Un-bolt the hinged cover and lift up to full open position. 3. Remove the tension pulley, spacer and shoulder bolt as shown in figure Loosen the tension pulley and spacer shown in figure 1 and move it as far to the left as possible. 5. Tubing may retain curled up shape during shipping. Prior to placing on unit, hang tube for at least 24 hours to let curled tube relax to natural state. 6. Place your purchased tubing as shown in figure 2, making sure the 2 washers on the tubing are to the right side of the bracket, with the steel washer closest to the bracket as shown. 7. Slide the tension pulley and spacer, which were loosened in step 3, back to the right up against the tubing. Tighten shoulder bolt. (See Fig. 2). Re-insert the pulley, spacer and shoulder bolt, which were removed in step 3. Adjust pulley downward onto the tube. Note: Pulley should NOT interfere with ceramic fingers. Attach the motor to the gear reducer with the supplied motor shaft key, bolts and lockwashers. Attach the safety switch to the viper base thru the square cutout underneath the gear reducer. (See Fig. 4) 10.Pressing on plunger, on right side holding cover in open position, close cover making sure safety switch key is engaged in cover safety switch. (lower left side) (See Fig. 5) 11.Plug motor into grounded 110v outlet. 12.Tubing should be placed into tank making sure there are no obstructions for tubing to get caught on. MOTOR Figure 4 GEAR REDUCER SAFETY SWITCH Gear Reducer Maintenance: (See Fig. 6) Use Abanaki Part #PGR-O for oil replacement. Figure 5 Oil Capacity is 3 ounces. SAFETY SWITCH KEY Change oil after first 6 months. Annually thereafter. May operate at 205 F (96 C). SAFETY SWITCH DOOR PLUNGER Top plug should be removed (if not already done) and replaced with breather plug (furnished with reducer). Side plug is oil level. Fill to this point.
