10 Hand Auger Assembly 3 1/4 in. 2 The unique cylindrical Hand Auger is ideal for augering shallow holes in fine grained soils. It requires negligible force to advance the hole because the blade diameter exceeds the bucket diameter. Little effort is required to turn the hand auger to produce a 4 inch diameter hole. Standard construction for the bucket is a heavy-guage, heat-treated, plated carbon steel. The blades are hard surfaced to resist abrasion. A stainless steel Hand Auger is available for environmental sampling needs. A special windowed bucket is available to facilitate soil removal when used in sticky clays. Extensions are 3/4 inch diameter by 3-foot long and use a threadless design to avoid the need for wrenches. Quick connect pins are used to join the tee handle, extensions and bucket. 18 Thin Wall (Shelby) Tube 5 The Thin Wall or Shelby Tube Sampler is designed to take undisturbed samples in cohesive type clays and soils. The sampler consists of a head assembly, ball check and cap screws for securing the sampler tube. The sampler tube consists of a head assembly, ball check and cap screws for securing the sampler tube. The sampler is pressed and retracted by hydraulic force into the undisturbed clay or soils. The tube is then removed from the sampler head and the sample is retained in the tube and transported to the laboratory. The thin wall sample tubes are made available in either steel, galvanized steel or brass in varying lengths. The head of the assembly comes with a ball check feature that helps prevent losing a sample by washing out during withdrawal from a test boring. The heat treated shoe is recessed to allow the use of a basket retainer or trap valve. Liners for the split tubes are also available for specific sampling needs. 43 Wireline Coring System NQ Overshot Compact Overshot NQ Features: For surface or downhole applications with NQ/NQ3/NQ2 core barrels. Stonger lifting dogs and lifting dog compression spring. Threaded connection between jar staff and overshot head. High strength alloy steel jar staff with increased diameter and fail safe stop. Eye bolt machined with radius to eliminate need for thimble. Dry Hole Lowering: In dry holes, the overshot assembly is used to lower the inner tube assembly. The locking sleeve will release the inner tube assembly upon contact with the water table or when the landing shoulder makes contact with the landing ring. The taper on the spearhead point forces the top end of the lifting dogs inward, allowing the locking sleeve to drop down and lock the lifting dogs open. The set screw (#16) can be used when dry hole lowering to prevent the locking sleeve from cable jumping.! WARNING The inner tube assembly can be released prematurely if it encounters resistance inside the rod string that resembles contact with the water table or landing shoulder, i.e. bulged rod joints. Releasing the Overshot Assembly: If the inner tube assembly becomes stuck in the outer tube, the locking sleeve is used to release the overshot. The locking sleeve is guided onto the wireline cable through the guide slot and dropped to the overshot/inner tube assembly. Until now removing and replacing the advancer inner assembly for soil sampling, coring or bit changing was an unreliable and difficult procedure. How could you be sure that the advancer assembly would relocate correctly in the driving sleeve? Self-regulating Stop Latches Boart Longyear has developed simple self-regulating stop latches (patent pending) which reliably and accurately relocate the inner assembly in the driver no matter what the condition of the overburden. Removal and replacement of the Boart Longyear Casing Advancer is rapid, easy and positive. No special presetting or positioning of the latch mechanism is required prior to insertion; just lower it through its loading sleeve into the casing. Self-regulating Stop Latches locate the inner assembly accurately in the driver sleeve. Spring-loaded Drive Latches engage with driving keys and positively latch into the key recess until the weight of the inner assembly is taken by an overshot. Coring and Soil Sampling as required Overburden coring and soil sampling can be carried out with confidencs as often as required. The Boart Longyear Casing Advancer inner assembly returns quickly and positively to the keyed driving recess in the sleeve. Changing bits to optimize penetration rates is also now possible. Positive Latching, Positive Reaming For maximum drilling efficiency the postion of the drilling bit relative to the casing shoe is important. Correct position prolongs the life of the casing shoe by ensuring that it only does the job it was designed for; sizing the drilled hole for the casing. Boart Longyear s positive latching, case hardened drive latches securely locate the inner assembly and bit at a predetermined distance in front of the shoe. This distance is adjustable by the driller to suit the nature of the overburden and the type of bit being used.

The new reaming shell is tougher: it can withstand more shock and vibration stresses because the increased ductility of the matrix forms a much stronger bond with the steel blank. 2. Circumslot is an excellent choice for low yielding formations to enhance sample retrieval when monitor wells recover slowly. 102 Terms Exclusion of Warranties BOART MAKES NO WARRANTY THAT THE PRODUCTS SOLD HEREUNDER SHALL BE MERCHANTABLE OR THAT SUCH PRODUCTS SHALL BE FIT FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES EXPRESS OR IMPLIED MADE BY BOART EXCEPT ITS FOLLOWING STANDARD WARRANTY: Boart warrants each new and unused product manufactured at its Stone Mountain, Georgia factory be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for 90 days from date of delivery to buyer. The obligation under this warranty being limited to the replacement or repair at the Boart factory, or at a point designated by it, of such parts as shall appear to it upon inspection at such point to have defective in material or workmanship at the time sold, provided that the parts claimed defective are returned to inspection point, transportation charges prepaid. This warranty applies only to new and unused products which after shipment from the Boart factory have not been altered, changed or repaired in any manner. 2. Exclusion of Liability for Consequential Damage It is further agreed by the purchaser that in no event shall Boart be liable for increased costs, loss of profit or goodwill or any special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages whatsoever arising out of any breach by Boart. 3. Delivery Boart shall not be liable for any delays in manufacturing or delivering any of the merchandise hereunder, or for any damage or loss to purchaser arising therefrom, if such delay shall be due to one or more of the following causes: fire; destruction of plant; strike; lockout; dispute with workman; epidemic; flood; accident; delay in transportation; war (whether declared or undeclared); insurrection; riot; blockade; embargo; acts, demands or requirements of the United States, or of any state or territory thereof, or of any governmental subdivision of any thereof, restraining orders or decrees of any court or judge; or any other cause whatsoever, whether similar or dissimilar to those hereinbefore enumerated, beyond the reasonable control of Boart; and the existence of any such cause or causes of delay shall extend the time of performance by the time or times measured by any such cause or causes of delay. If delivery is not completed within 60 days after the date stipulated in the acceptance of the order due to any of said causes, either Boart of the Buyer may cancel this contract on 10 days notice to the order. If delivery of the merchandise is delayed in transit due to default in payment of purchase price, or to delay in receipt of shipping instructions, document for payment, required inspection, export permit or other cause for which Boart is not responsible, charges for demurrage and storage shall be paid by the Buyer. Any goods delivered, any manner of delivery, or any matter not directly disputed shall be paid for by the Buyer, notwithstanding that other goods or methods or times of delivery might be disputed by the Buyer. 4. Taxes The sales price stipulated in this contract does not include any sales, use, excise, or other tax. If any such tax is imposed by law on the Buyer on account of this sale and Boart is obligated to collect and pay such tax, the amount of such tax paid by Boart shall be reimbursed to it by the Buyer forthwith in addition to the purchase price. 5. Title and Risk Loss Title to, ownership, and right to possession of the merchandise sold by this contract, and risk of loss, shall pass to the Buyer at the time of delivery to the carrier or Buyer, whichever first occurs. Provided that if payment of the purchase price is not contemporaneous with, or does not precede delivery to carrier or Buyer, delivery may be conditioned by Boart upon prompt execution and delivery of such documentation as it deems necessary or appropriate, including without limitation execution of such security agreements, and Uniform Commercial Code financing statements and such other documents as are appropriate to perfect its security interest in the goods delivered, or upon execution of a conditional sales contract containing such provisions as Boart deems appropriate to protect its interest, and reserving title until payment of the full purchase price. 6. Claims By Buyer Claims for any shortage or defects shall be deemed and released unless such claim is made in writing to Boart within seven days after receipt of the shipment, except for defects covered by the warranty in paragraph 1 above, which shall be made in writing within seven days after discovery thereof. 7. Terms Terms of sale are net 30 days less any cash discount as stated on the invoice for established customers. New accounts must provide bank reference as well as three trade references. A check or money order for payment in full or shipment on a C.O.D. basis will be allowed while credit is being established. Buyer agrees to pay Boart finance charges at the rate of 1.5% per month on past due accounts. Visa/Mastercard purchases are now being accepted at the Stone Mountain location. 8. Price Prices, published under separate cover, are subject to change at an time without notice. Boart reserves the right to correct price list or billing errors as they are discovered. Orders calling for future delivery will be billed according to the price in effect at the time of delivery. Prices are f.o.b. shipping point.
